I don't believe that was at all a factor. It seems like the devs really thought the usage of Analog hitting was low enough that something should be done to make it viable. But then you could argue that a mode like manage-only mode really is underused but is still staying in the game, so it is indeed a bit out of character of the devs to remove a feature this way.

If the interface changes this much, I don't necessarily think it was a good idea to simply scratch the mechanics that has been part of the game for four years, so I understand your frustration.

Unfortunately the Analog hitting interfaces weren't in the state where I could try thoroughly at the community event, so I cannot really comment on how the new mechanics feels.

I'm pretty surprised, I thought the majority used analog hitting.

You took my post out of context, that was not what I was relaying to bcruise.

For simplicity sake let's call it just analog. Basically analog has been made an input option for zone and timing. So out of those two choices you use either buttons or analog. The analog portion is performed the same way for either. I asked about the angle (in or out) on the way up for the timing option and was told it was just straight up.

The controls for analog for timing or zone are as follows:

          Right stick up to swing
Right stick left or right for a contact swing
Right stick down then up for a power swing

You will no longer input a button command for your swing type with analog. This will all be done by the right stick now.
I still don't think you understood what I was asking. I understand how you choose the swing types and you don't preload the swing type before the pitch for analog and all that other stuff. What I am trying to ask is are there still 4 types of swinging interfaces with 2 interfaces of analog swinging like MLB 13 & MLB14? Or are there now only 3 interfaces (1. Zone with buttons, 2. timing with buttons or 3. whatever this new analog is)?

I know exactly what you were asking and spelled it out in the post you quoted. To finish off your last sentence 3. Zone with analog 4. Timing with analog (with timing you have the ability to use the directional influence with the left stick for buttons and analog).

Re: Analog hitting changed or not?

Won't this make the online more unbalanced? This sounds easier than using zone and in the past I have felt that Analog and Zone both had Pros and Cons that offset one another and thus kept the hitting difficulty balanced for online.

And where did you guys see they took out Zone+Analog? Why would they take this out lol? Zone+Analog would actually be balanced with this new mechanic of just flicking the stick up rather than in the past where you had to focus on Stride timing, PCI Placement manually, and Swing Timing via Analog.

Also will this new directional hitting be allowed for online? I hope they keep in mind the major unbalancing issues when making drastic changes to hitting interfaces for us online gurus.

Thanks for the feedback. I get now. I was confused with you answer because to me it still wasn't clear that their are 2 different options for analog because you were explaining way more than what I was looking for. All I was trying to get was an answer of yes there are still 2 interfaces using analog or no there is only one analog option now. I can deal with how you use the changes when I get the game. Again, thanks for answering.

I was told directional hitting would be allowed online. Not sure if that was the final decision but at the time I asked that was the direction.

                        No, it's:

                        - Timing, with buttons
                        - Timing, with analog
                        - Zone, with buttons
                        - Zone, with analog

The button/analog thing is called "Input type" option

By the way nemesis: is analog pitching the same?

So you got zone....the simplified analog....the new directional hitting....and what else?
