Re: MLB 15 The Show Player Rating Predictions

Ok. I've read thru all this stuff on MadBum and here's my opinion....First off. His power better be a 50 cuz hes prob got the 3rd most power (I freaking rake with him btw) behind Posey and Pence haha. [left]-Overall for the game I do not think he's a 99. I saw a 92 on that stream they did and I'm fine with that. I figured he'd get a 92-94 rating so that is perfectly fine with me. What makes me angry when watching MLB network or listening to anyone talk about him is the fact that ppl act like he came out of nowhere! He finished what? 4th in the Cy Young voting? Pretty sure that means ur season was just fine. Also. Does anyone realize that 2014 was his 24 yr old season!?!?!?! 24! He isn't even near his prime! He's still learning to pitch. So say what u want but 3 rings before your 25 year old season is pretty good. Let's not forget that dirt cheap contract. And yes, that plays a huge role in any discussion. U want a pitcher that ur paying 30M to choke in Oct? Or u want a pitcher that is considered one of the most dominant WS pitchers ever at 25 and will never even make 1/2 of $30M over the life of his contract which is good thru 2019. Bum will have a much better defense behind him this year. Panik and Crawford r filthy together and Aoki (yes Royals fans) is a much better defensive upgrade then Morse. Two things that I personally think make Bumgarner so nasty is his arm path is absolutely insane. It has to be so distracting watching the ball start winding up in LF and see it release from RF. The other (and Giants fans probably can agree with this most) thing is I swear he throws the HEAVIEST ball in the league. Something about his pitches just feel like the "heavy" ball he throws destroys bats.
onto the most underrated player on SF...
      --------------
Brandon Crawford - First off let me just say (sorry Braves fans) u couldn't convince me to want any other SS in the MLB. Not Tulo, not Andrelton, not Peralta, not anyone. This dude is absolutely filthy at SS and has no emotion at all which i think is hilarious. The good thing is that he'll be a Giant his whole career cuz of our loyalty to our own and he grew up a SF fan so ya...anyways tho, onto what I'm most interested in seeing on The Show for him....I wanna see what his contact split is vs. LHP compared to vs. RHP. He hit .320 vs LHP! but only .213 vs RHP. I imagine his defensive attributes will all be 90+ but im hoping his contact vs LHP is in the mid to high 70s. I'm sure I get ripped for rather having BCraw over any other SS but I'm sure other Giants fans are the same way.

Aoki may be better than Morse. But there is a reason he was sitting on the bench in the last few inning every game.

That's what Blanco is for....Innings 1-6 is where the upgrade is. Any Giants fan knows once Bochy gets a double switch chance, he'll make the move. Plus Aoki might like LF better then RF

LOL dude. No, just no. The reason why everyone's saying Andrelton is better on defense is because he is better. Better than Crawford. A good look at FanGraphs would support this.

            2014 Season Stats:
--Andrelton Simmons (1,277 innings at SS in 146 games): 28 Defensive Runs Saved, 15.5 Ultimate Zone Rating, 12.1 Range Runs Above Average, 22.1 Defensive WAR

--Brandon Crawford (1,273 innings at SS in 153 games): 8 DRS, 1.0 UZR, 2.6 Range Runs Above Average, 7.5 Defensive WAR

            Career Stats:
--Andrelton (3,055 innings at SS): 88 DRS, 51.1 UZR, 12.1 RngR, 66.8 Defensive WAR, 31 total errors, .981 fielding percentage.
--Crawford (4,107 innings at SS): 25 DRS, 16.1 UZR, 14.9 RngR, 37.2 Defensive WAR, 61 total errors, .971 fielding percentage.

            Awards:
--Andrelton: In 2013, Andrelton won a Gold Glove for NL SS, and even finished 14th in MVP voting. He also won the Platinum Glove that year. Also he made history in 2013 with a season total of 41 DRS, which is tied with Gerardo Parra for the most ever in one season by a player (certainly the most in one season by any shortstop ever). In 2013, he tied Terry Turner (1906) for the highest single season Defensive WAR ever (5.4) in baseball history. In 2014, Andrelton won another Gold Glove for NL SS.

            --Crawford: None.

That says enough. Crawford has played 511 games at the MLB level compared to Andrelton's 352; Crawford has played over 1,000 more innings at his position than Andrelton has; yet Andrelton has well surpassed Crawford in all defensive categories. But please keep in mind that I'm merely talking about defense here. Not at all hitting. In hitting, without looking at any statistics I'd concede that Crawford is a better hitter.

But it's well established that Andrelton, in much less time than Crawford, has established his place as the top defensive shortstop in baseball.

Eric Young is known I believe too from the CC trade in the Franchise, I think he was a 75 or so, will probably make the 25 man since Melvin is out now.

oh dear Tim Tebow.....where in the world did I say that Crawford is better than Simmons or vice versa? Did u see me say that? errrr nope! I said u couldn't convince me to want Andrelton over BCraw....so before u go throwing all these Brian Kenny stats around I will throw this pretty little thing at u....Brandon has been our SS for 2 of these....
Andrelton....well....maybe in 2017? That's what you guys are building for right?

Brian Kenny stats? I can see you're well read on evaluating players.

Enjoy your World Series rings, but is that really going to be your answer to any person or thing that talks about a player being better than a player on the Giants, or a team doing better than the Giants, or anything of the like?
OMGZ WE GOTZ WORLD SERIES SO YOUR POINT IS INVALID!! That's mature.

                      I love these arguments:

"My player is better than your player."

"No way dude, my player is better than your player."

"You're dreaming. My dude is better because (shows stats). How can you argue with that?"

"Who cares about stats my guy has this (shows championship of some sort). Your stats mean nothing!"

"Oh good comeback. His (championship of some sort) has nothing to do with being better. These (shows stats) are all the proof anyone needs."

Then a 3rd person will get involved and say..."My dude better than both your dudes!"

                      And the cycle starts over.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
