Is it possible this is changed in the future? Perhaps an exception for franchises in their first year? Or... change it to where players are marked for replacement, but aren't actually replaced until the next offsesason?
I do not believe it is because of a design decision.

It is because they no longer have the rights to have a "digital representation" of the player since they are no longer a part of the mlbpa.

I would assume if they left the digital Jeter in there could be legal ramifications.

Yea I would assume if it were up to them any player being carried over from previous franchise would be allowed to remain in until they retire (within the franchise) so I don't think that can be changed.

No this will not change, he is no longer a part of the MLBPA therefore his likeness cannot.be in the game period.

For those wondering about Kris Medlen, Dylan Bundy, Brandon Beachy, Josh Johnson etc...... They aren't in the default SCEA rosters in MLB 15 for whatever reason. All accumulated service time last year while on the DL. Idk why they were removed, but it has nothing to do with the Y2Y saves feature.

Yeah I get that it was just hopeful thinking. I guess the best thing to do is just wait til the offseason before transferring to the next year.

I didn't expect Bundy to be in bc he played a full season in the minors (with dl stints I think). But I'm surprised about those other guys

Are they in the roster update maybe?

I have a question related to these missing players, but my question is not about Y2Y saves.

I have a modified 2015 OSFM Franchise file setup where I was planning on exporting certain players from this Franchise file before importing them into the MLB 15 roster I will use. There is no reason why I can't include these missing players in my export/import tasks. My question is related to how the audio features of the game handle announcing when a given player comes to bat or fields the ball. Does the game use the exact spelling of a player's name and if it is finds a match for some other player then the game will be able to announce this player through the audio features? I ask this because I was playing a Spring Training game in MLB 14 with these rosters and when the Cub's rookie Kris Bryant came to bat (a user generated player in the OSFM roster) the game was still able to announce his name. Now a Josh Johnson should have other name matches, but are there any other Medlen or Beachy players in the game? I don't think so and if SCEA removed them from the MLB 15 game I would imagine that even if I exported/imported them from MLB 14 into MLB 15, their names won't be announce by the audio features of the game?

I don't think they remove names from the names database so as long as Medlen was a last name in the game last year it won't be removed from the audio DB.

Nope. There was an update Friday and only 3 players were added. Justin Germano, Donovan Solano, and Joey Butler(he's missing his service time though).

I would think he'd be replaced. You could finish or sim the rest of 2014 on last year's game if you don't wanna lose him for the 2014 season.

Thxs ... now that I think about this, even I tried to export/import these missing players. I guess I will still be losing their likenesses if the game does not migrate them when it opens up my MLB 14 Franchise file. D'Oh.

Edited to add: Did Rockies relief pitcher Rafael Betancourt make it into the game? Perhaps he is in the pool of Free Agents? He was out for the entire 2014 season recovering from Tommy John surgery and while it is still unknown whether or not he will actually make the Rockies opening day 25-man roster (he was invited to Spring Training as a non-roster invitee), he was in the game in previous years.

I wish SCEA had a deal like 2k does, where they have rights to any player to enter the NBA after the first 2k. Would be really useful in the Show with free agents and future legends.

I slipped Jeter a $20 and he said it's okay to use his likeness in year to year saves now.

So how are folks planning to adjust their carryover saves?

I understand the legal reason for this, but am wondering if OSFM rosters just make this even more impossible to manage?
