Moving Victorino helps ease (not solve) the crowded OF situation and somewhat opens up RF for Braun. It also helps offset some money owed to Braun but Victorino is on an expiring deal so that's a win for you. Garza just to give the Sox extra motivation to swing the deal and get some extra depth to their rotation without getting an ace.

Probably not the most realistic deal to make prior to the season but it could work during the season. It'll give you some really nice payroll flexibility heading into the offseason so that you can chase hometown boy Jordan Zimmermann
I...didn't even think of BOS as a destination for Braun, haha.

Like you said, it probably isn't too realistic to make a swap this season (if it involved Braun), so this could be something I look at in the offseason. Victorino looks to be a FA after the 2015 season, so maybe Allen Craig as a substitute?

If acquiring Craig then I probably wouldn't look at Shaw, since I'd probably let Craig play 1B, and hope he gets on track until his contract is up.

So a 2016 offseason trade of:
    BOS Receives:
    - Ryan Braun, RF
    - Matt Garza, SP

    MIL Receives:
    - Allen Craig, 1B/RF
    - Brian Johnson, SP
    - Garin Cecchini, 3B/LF
    - ?

Any idea on who else I may be able to get back? I'm perfectly fine with just about anyone age-wise & position-wise if I can bring back Johnson in this trade.

    Thanks again. Very much appreciated.

Edit - Awesome! I just saw Bard's post and wouldn't mind JBJ's glove at all in this trade. Does that seem fair for both parties?

Jackie Bradley as the final piece instead of Shaw.

You could make the deal mid-season if you wanted too. Or would you like to keep Braun and aim for the postseason in 2015?

That will be a tough call, as far as midseason or offseason. I've played 5 games so far with MIL and really like some of their pieces, and feel like this would be a really fun trade to go through with. Unfortunately, I am 1-4 in those, and not confident I'll be much better the rest of the season!

So, midseason could definitely be a possibility - especially when I have a bit of free time at work on the Vita.

        Thanks again Totte & Bard!

That seems like a really underwhelming package for Garza.

Value for value, I would agree. However, I like the deal. The slight under pay for Garza helps offset the bad contract in Braun. Good deal and good level of risk for both teams.

I meant to say Braun, lol, but even that package for Braun is underwhelming. Braun isn't a "bad contract" yet. He's still a valuable player that should get a top 75ish prospect back.

I think Braun is still an allstar type player. If he is producing well in your franchise you can probably land a top 50 prospect

The post was in this thread and it was about how this guy did his franchises. I remember him mentioning something about how he uses a number generator to make trades for teams that are in contention. If anyone remember this post please respond. Thanks.
I believe the post you are looking for is in the thread "CPU Trade Logic". It's on page 4.

I'm in the 2nd month of my Red Sox franchise, looking to trade Victorino to make room for a Nava/Craig platoon. He's hitting .268 with 1 home run and 9 doubles in 35 games or so. Which teams would be interested in a salary dump for him? Or would I need to take a bad contract back to move him?

In the real world, Boston would be eating about half of that contract if they wanted to move him, I would think. The Dodgers can't give Ethier away without eating half of his, and he's actually shown he still has a pulse, which is more than can be said for Victorino. There's no way they would get anything back other than some farm fodder. As for teams who could be interested, take a look at your standings and identify the teams that look like they're really going to contend, then assess their outfield situations. You're bound to find one who wouldn't mind having a veteran outfielder on their bench for the stretch run of August/September for the price of a couple of guys who'll never make it to the bigs.
Looking at the contenders, the Nat's are leading their division but lost Harper for the season to a torn acl. They seem like a team that could take on Shane's contract

Sounds like a fit given Harpers injury. Go for something like Brett Mooneyham and Robert Benincasa in return. Two minor league arms that'll provide depth but nothing else.

I don't think we've given a clear value on Segura. What would be a fair value for him to get on the D-Backs?

Also, what would it take for Arizona to get Starlin Castro? I have a good idea of what it would take, but I'm looking for more ideas. If the price is low enough, I may get him instead of Segura.

Asked for Benincasa and the Nat's accepted. Looked at their lineup, they installed Victorino as the everyday right fielder and #2 hitter. This also clears the logjam in the OF for my team as of now so that helps
