I've had tag issues at least 10 times and twice at home where my catcher just stands there and watches the guy score.

Whoever said earlier about manual tags got me thinking....that would be pretty cool. You could control your arm with the right stick.

I use auto fielding and have yet to run into a problem like this and i have played close to 50 games already. Could this be a problem that only exists with manual fielding?

I'm gonna say probably. From what I've read and seen the cpu doesn't experience these issues. Just the user which leads me to believe auto fielding is probably fine.

Something I dont understand is that you'll get these times where the throw beats the guy to the bag by miles and yet the tag is whiffed and the guy is safe; YET, on throws where the ball essentially gets to the bag the same time the guy is, and the fielder is able to lightning fast throw down the tag and get him out. #annoying

I think that's the point. He shouldn't have missed the tag. Good eye, blue. Bad programming, Sony.

But that doesn't solve the problem for us people who DO like manual fielding and don't want a broken system where issues affect the user, but not the CPU. That in itself is a joke.

And to make it even odder 2nd, if you throw home but the runner on 3rd does not come the catcher will go into a sweep tag routine like its practice and he is getting a phantom rep in, then throw it to the pitcher.

I had one earlier in an online game that looked pretty funny. Runner coming home and the throw from the 1rst baseman comes in straight at the plate. The funny part is the catcher was standing on the 1rst base side of the plate and facing the dugout. The ball hit home plate an took a sharp turn right into the catchers glove (who is still facing the dugout on the opposite side of the plate) and he make the sweep like he is tagging out the runner. Clearly I was out when the catcher was sweeping the right batters box while the runner slid in behind him.

I know if the catcher was turned around the right way that it was a good tag. It just looked funny to see him facing the other way.

Try going into any replay of any tag and i bet you 99% of the time you will see the exact same problems as the posters are showing, its undeniable and unacceptable, GLOVES DONT GO THREW BODY PARTS.

All games have some problems with stuff going throw body parts but I have not seen any thing like that before.

Clipping issues are a pretty common occurance in games, and with MLB 15 allocating resources to eliminate the clipping just simply isn't feasable, and would require reworking of not just models but animations as well.


I do remember something about Human IK and that does bring the possibility of some changes to collision detection but, thats straying far off topic.

Yeah I remember hearing about Human IK from I think the target thing or something but then never heard any thing about it after that. Yeah I hope at some point all games can get ride of clipping because it just looks so odd awkward as the games get to looking better and better.

So auto fielding or not, if I have a play at the plate, should I take control of my catcher? I tried both ways and have still missed the tag where I clearly had the runner beat. Last night I threw home and just let the CPU take over and he hardly moved to make the tag. The next time, I controlled the catcher and he made some animation where I could not make the tag.

What is the consensus of how and who makes the tag??

If youre on Auto fielding you do nothing...ive had it happen twice to me and my catcher made the correct tag easily both times.

If you move your L Stick it will take control and he may not tag him.

Just do nothing.

I play auto fielding and manual throwing and have seen numerous issues. A lot of the things being said. This HAS to be fixed cuz it leads to runs scored and game outcomes to change.

I've seen the catcher whiff on tags after clearly having the ball before the runner reaches home. I've also seen this happen at third base. I've see the 1B standing off the bag field an easy ground ball but never moves to step on the bag!

I've seen the 3B field an easy double play ball, throw to second ONLY to see the 2B is way off the bag! I end up throwing to first to get only one out instead of being out of the inning I had a hell of a time getting out of. It's very frustrating and I almost want to quit the game when it costs a run.

Is there anyone who plays with full auto fielding and throwing that has seen these issues? I feel like the problem only exists with any type of manual fielding. It would be good to narrow the problem down so that maybe it can be patched.

Just adding my name to the list. I've only played a few times and I think I've had one of these missed tags at least once each game. Reeeally bad misses that left me staring at the tv screen wondering "what the hell was that?!" This is why I usually wait until the first patch to dive too deep into a game. It's a shame that we have to do that these days.
