Guys lets get back on topic. This thread is for your MLB 15 Franchise updates. Any discussions about MLB 16 need to be in the appropriate thread.

    Thanks

Going into game 5 I'm tied with the Royals in the ALCS 2-2. I play one game and then sim one and it seems when I sim the games my team does better. I don't think I'm going to win this series since I just can't get the bats going.

Well, it all comes down to this...Game 7. I have to beat King Felix to do so.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Well, I'm now in my 2019 season from my cubbies franchise that I started back on mlb 14 of the PS3 (now taken to mlb 15 on PS4). My records are the following:

          2014: 72-90
          2015: 93-69 (lost NLDS)
          2016: 101-61 (world champ)
          2017: 104-58 (world champ)
          2018: 99-63 (lost NLDS)

This is without question the most fun I've had on a sports video game. The year to year save feature has me damn near playing the show year round (I do find some time to carve our some niners madden franchise in the fall, but the show is just so addicting). My sports loves have always been the Niners and Cubs. While I've had a tremendous amount of great moments with the niners (fan since '87) the cubbies have only had a hand full ('89 cubs are still my fav baseball team and Ryno is my all time favorite athlete), but this current cub team just feels different. It just feels like it built for the long run and I love having my show franchise in companion with the real life team.

For MLB the Show 16, do we know if uniform flair specific to 2016 (such as the Padres 2016 ASG patch) will remain on uniforms in franchise mode once you've advanced beyond 2016?

I am several years into a Padres franchise in MLB 15 and it is annoying playing the Reds year after year and seeing their 2015 ASG patch in 2016, 2017 and beyond. Would hate to be stuck with that in my glorious Padres chize.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Final game of the ALCS I ended up losing to the Rangers 3-1 and they moved onto the World Series to face the Nationals. Had a chance in the top of the 9th to take the lead with runners on 1st and 2nd but ended up grounding into a double play. The Rangers got swept in the World Series so that made me feel a little better.

During the offseason I needed to get a catcher since I let Jaso go because I didn't want to give him what he wanted. So I traded Matt Moore to the Astros for their starting catcher who is rated 77 and a low rated prospect. I kept most of my minor league players but let the ones who were rated a D or over the age of 32 go.

I have it ready to advance to spring training when 16 drops. Don't know how my team will do this year we didn't get any big names in free agency but we also didn't lose any big names on our team.

This thread is for 2015 franchise progress updates. The Franchise streams and Info come out next week I believe. That would be the time to ask questions about MLB 2016.(And in the proper thread) As they have not talked about Franchise Mode yet, nobody can answer this question except The Show Developers.

In the meantime, I struggled to figure out what I wanted to do in the show. I tried pumping all of my extra stubs into an RttS character, but I just couldn't get into it.

I finally settled on a Season mode (ugh, season mode, I know) with a new team (the Mets) and a downloaded roster of completely fictional players. I added in a few custom players of my own that were balanced with the rest of the league, and I've been going to town on it. There are a few things that I discovered playing this mode.

                  1. Fictional Roster was a great idea: It adds a lot of unique challenges and new scenarios you just don't find with a realistic roster. Also, I don't feel as guilty playing a team other than the Blue Jays.

                  2. I Like NL Baseball better: I always suspected, but now I know. Strategy! Who knew it was so fun?

                  3. I Like NL Stadiums better overall: Seriously, there are some gorgious stadiums in the NL, and I'm glad I get to see more of them while I wait for 16.

                  4. ... Except Turner Field: That place kind of reminds me of progressive field, except with all of the joy sucked out of it and an extra layer of grime added on for good measure. Sorry Braves fans, I hope suntrust is better.

                  5. It's great to give your players silly names: Nothing relaxes you more for an at bat then chuckling at Manny Manzo or Sluggy McSlugger. Also, my best pitcher so far is Lefty Lawrence.

                  6. The Mets have numbers on the front of their uniforms: I never noticed that before. It kind of bothers me now. I'm going to be using those old throwbacks a lot. Like a LOT.

                  7. It's easier to imagine the personality of created players: This helps me a lot, since I like to role play. Instead of guessing at real life personalities and trying to form a changeroom dynamic that way, it's all whatever I make up in my head, and there is no chance that I could be wrong to break the illusion.

Just some thoughts that I wanted to share. Sorry if I veered a little too off topic but I wasn't sure that this needed its own thread.
Can you revert back prior to spring training? Otherwise you'll not have the accurate 2016 schedule.

Well I always keep in the habit of having two saves for my main franchise, so I have one right before spring training starts. I can always go back if I want to but even if I did want an accurate schedule, would I be able to get it? I'm going into 2017, not 2016.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I think I will stick with MLB 15 this year and get next year's game. However, I may be swayed if there are great reviews. Meanwhile, I have started my dynasty for the year with the Blue Jays. Haven't done much so far in sprig training.

Royals re-signed Holland to a 2 year 7.2M contract. He will likely fill a bullpen role if he stays healthy after Tommy-John surgery.

As for my Blue Jays, I signed 1B Pedro Alvarez to a 2 year deal worth around 3.8M (1.9 per year with a club option for year 2). He will battle it out for a roster spot. With his high power rating he may do well, which means I got a steal. If not I will just decline his option next year. Also, signed Kevin Fransden to a 1yr/700K deal. He probably won't crack the big league roster, but provides AAA depth and can play LF/RF/1B/2B/3B so I will play around with him during spring training.

Here is how the roster is shaping up for ST (Bolds = opening day lock)
C: Martin, Quintero, Jiminez (Thole in AAA)
1B: Colabello, Smoak, Alvarez (Kotchman in AAA)
2B: Travis, Goins, Barney, Izturis, Fransden
                      3B: Donaldson, Dominguez, Fransden
                      SS: Tulo, Goins, Izturis
OF: Bautista, Pillar, Saunders, Pompey, Brown, Lake, Fransden, Carrera (Cecillini in AAA)

SP: Stroman, Estrada, Sanchez, Dickey, Happ, Hernandez, Floyd, Hutchinson (Penny, LeBlanc, Diamond in AAA)
RP: Storen, Osuna, Cecil, Loup, Soriano, Delabar, Chavez, Schultz, Dragmire, Biagini

                      Main positional battles will be:
                      1) 2 OF spots (LF+backup OF (between Colabello, Saunders, Pompey, Brown, Lake, Carrera, Fransden)
                      2) For the 4th starter spot (likely between Happ, Chavez, Hutch, Floyd, Hernandez)
                      3) For a bullpen spot (wide open)
                      4) 2 spots for 1B (between Colabello, Smoak, Alvarez)
                      5) 2 INF backup (between Goins, Izturis, Fransden, Barney, Dominguez)
                      6) Backup C (between Quintero, Jiminez, Thole)

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I just finished season 1 of my first franchise and I'm about to enter the off-season. I started with a fantasy draft to build a team to my liking (managed to get Greinke and Shelby on my Dbacks team back in the summer when I started). I played all of Greinke's starts and we made the playoffs where Greinke threw a no-hitter in Game 1 of the 1st round. I need to up the difficulty for next season as we managed to win the World Series over the Mariners in 6 games.

Regarding transferring my franchise to '16, is there a "best" time in the franchise year to do this: Before starting the off-season, just before Spring Training, just before the '16 season starts? Or does it not really matter? Not sure if I should stop here and wait or continue playing and possibly transfer mid-season.

Also, regarding the budget, do draft picks have a signing bonus that I need to consider. With the Dbacks, I drafted 1/1 overall, so I assume my pick would want a signing bonus (if this is an element to the mode). Will this factor into my available budget? After Cole complained about his 2016 salary, and I saw he had a signing bonus of $8 mill when he was drafted, I was wondering if this is part of the franchise mode.

For those who have played Franchise mode before, is there any negative impact to simply renewing a player's contract? For whatever reason, several players simply refuse to sign even when I offer more than they are seeking or the interest bar is a almost full. I'm getting annoyed with them and now want to offer 80% of their prior salary.

I don't believe so. I renew players contracts all the time and haven't had any negatives happen to me.

there are a few others i can't think of but im def not looking forward to player morale... this could end my run... not good...
