What kinds of trades did you pull off for them? I let Gee go I believe in FA.

I had a hole at RP and depth in the minors at 3B so I traded Gee to the Rays for Johnny Venters and 3B prospect Tyler Goeddel.

I then traded Neise to OAK for prospects SP Dustin Driver and CF Justin Higley. I just took the best players I could get for them, and didn't really care what positions as Gee/Neise were valueless to me at this point.

Side note, Venters ended up being a flop so I spun him and minor leaguer for Addison Reed.

Started one with Opening Day rosters with the Astros. I wanted the challenge of using a small-budget team. I plan on using a six man rotation to see how that goes. As for my sim-schedule, I play one, sim two, play one, sim 3 and repeat. The Stros are off to a measly 2-5 start. Evan Gattis got hurt, he'll miss about 3 total weeks.

I looked at the trading block. I'm considering trading for Jon Niese or Brett Anderson near the deadline (they're on the block and pretty realistic candidates to be traded.)

What a busy end of the summer (real world). With Madden, MG, UD, and your other gaming interests all coming together, the All Star Break was a welcome site.

Was a specter for the HR Derby. First pic shows the contestants.

Hoping to see a Cabrera / Stanton showdown, instead, a victorious Giancarlo over Moss.

IL All Stars defeat PCL All Stars 7 -6. Jose Pirela - POG.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

2018 has come to an end and the Marlins squeezed to a successful defense of their NL East division crown by 1 game over the Nationals. The Marlins offense decided to take the last week off for the most part (Davis being the constant exception) and that nearly cost the squad the division.

Winning just 90 games is nothing short of a disappointment. If it wasn't for the playoff berth, it would be a terrible season in light of the last two the Marlins put up. That may lead to some shaking up in the coming offseason.

But first the book has to be closed on 2018, and the Marlins are in the playoffs. They will face the San Francisco Giants in the NLDS. The Giants head into the playoffs scorching hot, winning their last ten games and 96 in total on the season.

The Marlins have arguably just two weaknesses, but they showed up a lot: Bullpen and inconsistency at the plate. The Marlins scored 685 runs, but were shut out frequently as well - it's feast or famine. That's dangerous in the playoffs.

And then any leads the team gets might be squandered by a bullpen that's underperformed all season. There's still no definition at closer, and, aside from Tony Watson, there's not much settled with the roles elsewhere either.

That will put the pressure squarely on the starters - who still have to do battle without Jose Fernandez and Aaron Sanchez. Seems the team won't need to worry about Boeve, but Harvey will be making his debut as will Clay "Smoke and Mirrors" Huff, a guy where everyone is just wondering when the other shoe will drop. Iwakuma is slowing down, and Bartlett is another rookie. They've held it together okay in September, but will it last?

An NLDS exit would really be unbearable, but unless they pull it together, it might just happen.

              Marlins Top Performers

              Hitting:
              1B Chris Davis - .326, 51 HR, 134 RBI, .382 OBP, .628 SLG
              OF Christian Yelich - .319, 20 HR, 68 RBI, .406 OBP, .551 SLG, 40 doubles
              OF Giancarlo Stanton - .271, 31 HR, 74 RBI, .366 OBP, .495 SLG

              Pitching:
              Damian Boeve - 15-8, 2.33 ERA, 231 1/3 IP, 48 BB, 274 K, .289 BABIP
              Jose Fernandez - 12-7, 2.17 ERA, 186 1/3 IP, 49 BB, 226 K, .266 BABIP
              Moses Bartlett - 13-8, 2.97 ERA, 212 IP, 44 BB, 141 K, .261 BABIP

Final 2018 Team Top Prospect Rankings

              1. 1B Stan Brito (AA/AAA) - biggest young bat in the system keeps the power coming and might be rounding out the rest of his game now. Could be in AAA to start 2019.

              2. C Lindsay Robertson (AAA/ML) - expected to push Tommy Cruz for a roster spot next spring, especially after a fine September. Best hitting catcher, on paper, in the system.

              3. CP Curtis Anders (AA) - perhaps the answer in a year or two for the team's struggles in finding a sure-fire closer. Uses guile and finesse (and nasty movement) instead of raw velocity to succeed.

              4. SP Tyler Kolek (AA/AAA) - finally showing progress in command, resuming his march towards that high ceiling he has. Might finally be ready to make the jump to AAA.

              5. IF David Sohn (AAA) - his September call-up left more questions than answers. Defense proved to be questionable as thought and his approach all-or-nothing right now. Defense will continue to see a lot of attention, which might be holding back rounding out his hitting.

              6. SP Quinn Williams (AAA) - the Marlins will have to decide what to do with him soon as he's running out of options. Quinn keeps making seeming progress, but for the first time, looked solid in the majors in September action.

              7. OF Matt Baldwin (AAA/ML) - he'll have to fight for a spot with veterans like Ben Revere and Eric Young, Jr. around, and he might be adding "injury prone" to his list of weaknesses...which seems to be growing instead of shrinking...

              8. 1B Russell Parrott (AAA) - didn't show much power, which was disappointing, but otherwise he showed a level stroke that made pretty decent contact. Didn't get flustered in some clutch situations he faced.

              9. 3B Boyce Kruse (AA) - needs to learn defense in order to not have his upward mobility stunted later on. Listed as a 3B now, but probably will end up at 2B due to his arm.

              10. SS Fernando Abreu (AAA) - solid enough with a reputation for being reliable under pressure. The biggest thing with Abreu is just how high is his ceiling. It could be anywhere from not much higher to borderline all-star. The answer is just too unclear at this point.

              2018 Awards:
NL MVP: Chris Davis (MIA) - third year in a row he wins the award.

NL Cy Young: Stephen Strasburg (WAS) - one former phenom aces out current Marlins phenom Damian Boeve.

NL ROY: Chris Reed (SF) - An "old rookie" at 27 years old, this fireballer keeps the pitching stranglehold on the award going, now 4 years in a row.

Chris Davis also won the NL Triple Crown.

AL MVP: Joc Pederson (LAA) - Pederson might be on his way to making Trout second fiddle in a loaded outfield.

AL Cy Young: Felix Hernandez (SEA) - King Felix still reigns the mound in the AL. He's closing in on 200 wins on his career.

AL ROY: Ron Howell (KC) - Not the most impressive year with an ERA in the 3.50's but good enough to get the award.

                  2015 Tigers franchise.

Sitting at 29-31 just split a 2 game series with the Cubs. I've gone on a winning streak as of late. Taking 6 of my last 8 games.

Since coming of the 60 day DL J.D. Martinez has struggled to a .118 average with 1HR and 1RBI.
Victor Martinez is on a tear. Now hitting .369 with 10HRS and 40RBI
Miggy struggling to hit homers, but is now at 12HRS and 47RBI which ties him for 1st with Jose Abreu in the AL.
Wynton Bernard has taken over the CF job and is hitting .300 with 10RBI abd 14 stolen bases in the leadoff spot.

                  Justin Verlander is now 5-2
Anibal Sanchez is 3-5 and continues to struggle.
Kyle Lobestein is 1-1 and looks good so far.

Alex Wilson is now 10 for 11 in save chances.

I'm starting to turn it around a bit and I am now in 3rd place in the AL Central. 3 game series coming up against Cleveland. Hopefully I can get to .500. Verlander on the mound in game 1.

In my franchise The Reds are tied for last (15 games back) and I am the Jays at the trade deadline...they offered me Votto for Stroman... I won't re-sign EE so Votto comes to Canada and we give up one of our best starters... my hope is to do work in free agency regarding SP. Reds get a potential top starter...remember he actually didn't tear his ACL in the game. and is 15-4 with a 3.29 ERA 2 games before the deadline. Plus Votto is hitting .289 with 19 homers and 69 RBI. Should I be adding more or is this fair 1-1?

I'm currently 35-32 with my first franchise as the Cubs. Last year I went with my hometown rays but decided I wanted to play outside to take advantage of the new lighting improvements this year. My division is pretty much all within a game of each other so im getting anxious and feeling like I need to make a run to separate myself from the pack. Changeups which apparently my entire league is tremendous at, is my kryptonite. Lester has a great game every now and then, but Arrieta is the true beast of the team. Rizzo is making a run for NL MVP. I love this game so much.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Game 1 of the NLDS squared off Damian Boeve (15-8, 2.33) against Matt Cain (19-7, 2.47) of the Giants.

The Marlins picked away and gradually wore Cain down to mount some "offense". Why offense in quotes? Here's how the Marlins scored:

1st run - Santana seeing-eye single and then a Campos double into the triangle.
2nd run - Taylor walked, stole second, Revere ground out, Davis RBI ground out
3rd run - Yelich single, stole second, Campos triple

Campos' hits were the only hard hit balls. The rest were just-barely-got-by-the-gloves. The second run didn't even require a hit.

Meanwhile, Boeve was almost literally untouchable through those 5 innings. He gave up one hit and had 10 strikeouts, including seven in a row at one point.

His one mistake was on a bad call by the catcher Moyer as much as anything else. Moyer tried to get cute with a slider and Boeve didn't shake off the sign. CarGo didn't mind as he hit one out to left field to make it a 3-2 game. Boeve went back to his fastball against Sandoval and got a pop up in foul ground for the final out.

Boeve left after 6 1/3 with those 2 runs allowed and 12 strikeouts. He also had a walk and a wild pitch.

The Giants bullpen didn't pitch terribly, but managed to give up a run here and a run there as the Marlins continued to peck away and scratch across a run in each inning. Even Revere's 2-RBI single, the only multi-run inning for the Marlins, was a dying flyball that one-hopped the left fielder.

Stanton did hit one out of the park, 417 feet, in the 8th.

Whether the Marlins can keep this style of offense going remains to be seen, but it might be a preview of how the Marlins want to go. Try to work deep counts and manufacture one run in most innings.

                          Game 2 Matchup:
                          MIA: Iwakuma (11-11, 3.73)
                          SF: Villafuerte (11-4, 2.28)

Game 2 of the NLCS was an offensive back-and-forth affair from start to finish.

The Giants came out firing against Iwakuma, who had pretty much nothing on the ball. Right out of the gate, the Giants got 5 straight hits to lead to two runs. Only escaping a bases loaded situation kept things from getting worse.

Iwakuma ran into trouble again in the 3rd inning, coughing up two runs on a Rougned Odor 2-run triple. Still, though, Iwakuma minimized damage as best he could and kept the game reasonable.

This would pay off in the 4th as the Marlins finally put something together against Giants rookie Villafuerte. The big blow came on a long 3-run HR from Stanton to straight away center field. Later in the inning Jose Campos again came up big with a double to tie the game at 4-4.

The Giants stormed back as Odor hit a blast to RF to give the Giants the lead. The Marlins immediately countered with a Taylor RBI triple and then a Davis RBI single on an 0-2 count with two outs to give the Marlins their first lead at 6-5.

Finally, Mattingly found an arm that could pitch. Jacob Turner came in for a shutdown inning.

Another youngster, Parrott, who looked good in the clutch in September, came up with a key RBI double to make the score 8-5. Davis tacked on a HR to RF that found the Bay to make it 9-5.

The Giants fought back in the 9th. Tony Watson had come in for the 7th and was lights out for two innings. Mattingly tried to stretch him for the 3-inning save but the Giants picked up two-runs with two-outs in the 9th to force a change. Tim Collins came in against Odor, who was looking for the cycle, and picked up the last out via a strikeout.

Marlins held on for a 9-7 win and a 2-0 series lead.

It's good to see the bats working, but the pitching now is a concern. Hopefully, someone behind Boeve can step up. Marlins now get two games at home to try to seal the series.

                            Game 3 match up:

                            MIA: Moses Bartlett (13-8, 2.97)
                            SF: Chris Reed (15-10, 3.30)

Marlins move on and in a way that might make the fans a bit relieved.

                              Why?

-The starter (Bartlett) was okay-but-not-great but managed to leave with a lead.

-The bullpen blew that lead by giving up two solo HR in two separate innings.

-The #1 and #2 hitters produced the go-ahead run. Taylor got on base, stole second, Cruz slapped a single for the GW RBI.

-Bullpen managed one good inning to end the game.

So the weaknesses showed up. HR ball? Check - the Marlins gave up 3 HR. Inconsistency on the mound? Check - Bartlett looked overwhelmed and the bullpen was...well..the same shaky mess it was all year. Up-and-down offense? Check. Marlins scored 5 runs, yes, but 3 came in one inning and they produced just 8 hits with long stretches of doing nothing. This could have been a 4-3 *loss* if not for Campos' 2-run double in the 4th that capped that 3-run inning.

Despite that, the Marlins won. Perhaps they can make a long run after all.

Decision time on who will start Game 1 of the NLCS. Boeve will likely be ready, but Huff's turn is next and bypassing him means he goes a week or so without pitching.

Now the Marlins become Phillies fans for about three days as they hope the Phils can upset the Cardinals. Of course, the players would never admit that, but I think they'd rather face a division rival as well as avoid the team with the .667 regular season winning percentage in the Cardinals!

In the offseason for my jays. Signed Daniel Murphy to play first and last day of free agency I noticed Cueto was unsigned with no offers. I had 7 mil left in budge so offered 1 year 7 mil for kicks and he took that over KC's 2 year/34 mil offer hahah this ever happen to anyone?
