Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
He's got to be close enough to it I'd think. Either Way, robbing the computer of those prospects for what I'm guessing is scrap can't be fun. Should've just done a fantasy draft and take all the young kids and load up on pitching if you wanted to have those guysOakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Nope he's 64th. But I agree with you it makes no sense. When I want a loaded young team I just fantasy draft it and stock up on most of the top guys.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
We are at the point now all free agents are on the market and to say its weak this year is an understatement. And while i would like to battle for some top tier players, its nice to see that teams are keeping their players.
But still, trades are going down, at least one a day as teams make moves to strengthen weak aspects of their organization. Love that!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Season 2 is off to a little better (still not happy) start than last year. As you recall, we started 8-17 last year and pulled it together in July and August to win the division. This year, we're off to a 15-11 start, good for a tie for 1st place with STL.
Pitching is a big problem so far this year. Jason Hammel just pitched a CG 5-hitter for a 6-1 win over MIL, but aside from that, the starting pitching as not been good. The lone bright spot? Justin Verlander is 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA in 4 starts (acquired in an off-season trade).
The bullpen has sucked also, and in desperate need of LHP in the bullpen, I scored Tim Collins and Lorenzo Cain, and a minor league SP for Motte and Lastella. So, in one trade, I got a solid LHP in the bullpen and an elite lead-off guy with blazing speed.
So far the deal has worked as we have gone 3-0 since. Schwarber is on the DL and due to come back soon so I don't know what I'll do. Probably put him back in as catcher because Montero couldn't hit a grapefruit right now. Schwarber sucks at LF (despite what's happening in real life) so I think I'll keep Montero on the bench for a while.Comment

Wow. I didn't expect so many people to crap on my franchise. Bummer. And I did give up some good guys to get those prospects.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
That said, you cannot, in good faith, claim that your franchise is in any way "realisitic." Again, there is nothing wrong with proceeding as you did, but be aware that such an approach simply does not comport with reality.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Don't worry about it.
Play as you wish. Do what brings you enjoyment out of the game. People have their opinions one what "should" be done, but, ultimately, it doesn't matter.
You're playing your franchise and it's a single player experience. Do what you think is best/fun with your team."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
I went back and tried a more realistic approach and am going to see which one I like better. I traded lawrie and a prospect for starlin Castro. I will have him under team control for only 5 mill a year for five years. I also traded Parker and some others for a couple of pretty good relievers to strengthen the weak Oakland bullpen. Sound more realistic? I am just going to try to do really good scouting in order to get a better farm system. Not that oakland's is terrible because it isn't.Comment

But for me this franchise is in a fictional world that exists outside of reality. I have traded Werth, J. Zimmerman,Fister,Gio and a few others, fired Williams to, the moron (but that is personal). I have built my team the way I want it to play and for the first time ever I took my team to the Series and WON!! Had the best experience I have ever had with a baseball game and I don't regret it a bit.
I am almost done with my second season and I traded Scherzer and I am on my way to making the Nationals a dynasty. Building a core of young players in my pipeline and I should be strong for a good long while. I am at 85 wins with 10 to go and have locked up the east again. Time to coast until the post season. Loving carry over saves.
Again just enjoy your game the way you want to playIn Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Marlins phenom Damian Boeve nearly did it again.
He threw a perfect game in his rookie year and he almost managed a no-hitter in his latest start in year two.
He held the Rays hitless through 8 1/3 innings before Cecchini picked up the first hit for his club.
Boeve would get the next two outs to settle for a one-hit shutout.
The youngster is trying to light a spark under the recently lifeless Marlins and has remained upbeat despite being the victim of a lot of those offense outages. He improves to 11-6 and has a 2.35 ERA after this outing.
The Marlins are still in third place, and precariously close to fourth place, so they will have to hope this does light a spark in the team.
Chris Davis went 2-for-4 in the game to get him back in first place for the NL batting title by one point over Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt. This is especially significant since that's the only jewel of the Triple Crown that figures to be contested. Davis' lead in HR and RBI is commanding and would be difficult to overtake.Last edited by KBLover; 09-02-2015, 01:47 AM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
