Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I have a franchise that's dates back to mlb 14 on the PS3 and has been carried over. My Cubs seasons have been the following:

    2014: 72-90
    2015: 93-69
    2016: 101-61....won WS
    2017: 104-58....defended title

    My 2018 cubs are:

    C - Schwarber
    1b - Rizzo
    2b - Duran (stud draft pick...was .276-33-110 in '17)
    3b - Bryant
    SS - Russell
    LF - Zobrist/Billy Hamilton
    CF - DeSHields Jr
    RF - Heyward

    Ace - Jon Gray
#2 - Valencia (traded for 2 seasons ago...is a fictional player - think of a healthy Rich Harden)
#3 - Lester (getting old but still a 87 ovr)
    #4 - Bauer
#5 - Scheiber (another young fantasy guy; 21 years old 78 ovr throws 99 is a lefty)

Im hoping my '16 is a sign of what's coming in 2016 irl. Bryant was a create prospect on the roster set I downloaded for MLB 14 on the PS3. I called him up in sept of '14 and I've been thrilled with his numbers:

    2014: .278-12-20
    2015: .264-32-88
    2016: .265-49-130
    2017: .299-30-112

    Rizzo's been just as good:
    2014: .240-34-88
    2015: .271-34-89
    2016: .277-37-109
    2017: .318-39-115

Year to year saves is the best thing to happen to sport games in years. Given the way the real niners season is playing out the Y2Y saving has me happily playing baseball in December and loving it because I won't lose any of the progress.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

      ^^^^^^
Alright that's enough ab the Cubs lol jk. Just came to put up my fantasy draft Cardinal team

Hey guys ! Here's how I'm rolling until the season is done. Just got 15. Not gonna rush for MLB 16. Fantasy Drafted my team and will be playing all 162 plus some minor league games. Ab 2 of every 5 minors. All star Pitching Veteran hitting. I added ab 10 CAP from the 90s to add to the competition and spread the talent around. I didn't draft one but the players I added were Ken Griffey Jr. , Mark McGwire , Jeff Bagwell , Derek Jeter , Greg Maddux , Randy Johnson , Hideo Nomo , Cal Ripken Jr. and Chris Carpenter. Maddux is #1 pick always and is playing against me in Division on the Pirates.

I chose the St.Louis Cardinals because the stadium is awesome on The Show and brings back so many memories of going to the games. I have a memory for ab every seat in the place plus the different monuments. Like taking shots before the game in the parking garage out past center field .

My update is a little late but this is the team I drafted minus the Kolten Wong trade and a few relief pitchers.

      C) Christan Bethancort
      1B) Miguel Sano
2B) Kolten Wong traded some pitching prospects for him.
      SS) Carlos Correa
      3B) Josh Harrison
      LF) Randall Grichuk
      CF) Billy Hamilton
      RF) Bryce Harper
      DH) Jay Bruce

Bench : Carlos Santana playing 1B&Catching. Osrubel Herrera IF&OF. Stephen Piscotty LF/RF.

      #1 Carlos "Tsunami" Martinez
#2 Marcus Stroman *sent to minors
      #3 Jaime Garcia
      #4 Taijuan Walker
      #5 Marco Gonzalez

      Danny Hultzen * new #5

      LR Manny Banuelos
      LR Raisel Iglesias
      MR David carpenter
      MR lefty Specialist Johnny Venters
      MR Yusmeiro Petit
MR Mop up time Tanner Scheppers
      SU Dellin Betances
      CL Francisco Rodriguez

Now after ab 8 games into the season Marcus Stroman was all over the place. When he could bring it across the plate it was rocked. To a tune if 13.50 era. 3 hrs. I really want to use him but couldn't. So I debated trading him but his value for a trade is not as high as what I value him. 78 B potential. He's a future ace maybe #2. So I sent him to the Minors !! Being only 23 y.o. He can work on things for a while then come back and right his ship. Different move than I have ever made but it happens IRL.

My AAA and AA teams are set too. I have Jose Berrios and Julio Urias in AAA and will be pitching everyone of their games. I'll update that team next time
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

After a June which brought 20 wins, my Cubs followed it up only as the Cubs could with a 9 win July (June felt too dominant so i messed with difficulty and sliders which brought all of my hot players down to earth.....and then some). Our once comfortable lead in the NL Central has been trimmed to 3 games, and weve got a big series against the Pirates where we must at least come away with one win, as a sweep would even us up.

In the first game the Pirates marched out rookie Jameson Taillon, and he made sure to show why he was such a highly thought of prospect. Taillon completely shut down my offense, mixing his 100 mph fastball with a devastating changeup that looked incredibly slow at 88. After 6 strong innings, Clint Hurdle decided to let the pen try to hold the 4-0 lead that the Pirates had created by hitting Arrieta VERY hard (i think he gave up 8 hits and at least 6 of them were for extra bases).

I thought that i had a decent chance at a comeback now that the flamethrowing Taillon had hit the showers. But Clint Hurdles move was pure genius. Joakim Sorias fastball was often slower than what Taillon's changeup had been and it was impossible for me to stay back. Combine that with Soria's 78 mph slider and 68---yes sixty eight---mile per hour curve, not to mention an offense that was completely shut down for 6 innings that is already prone to the strikeout, and you get a lot of silly looking swings.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Hello to everyone who is still grinding in their 162 game quests to satisfaction of playing a whole season. I am having a lot of trouble in my franchise. I am in year 1 with my red sox, in the 1st week of may sitting at 13-12. Pitching has been overall pretty good, with my starters not being dominant but effective enough to keep me in games for the most part. My rotation has been lead early on in large part of Buchholz posting a 1.36 era so far. My pen has been alright but I am looking to acquire diekman from the phillies and jones from the white sox. However it is my offense that struggles mightily. I have a team batting average of .202, worst in the majors by far. My leading hitter is Xander Bogaerts at .309 followed by Napoli at .234. I strike out way too much and am too anxious and swing at awful pitches and hit a lot of weak grounders and pop outs. When I win it is because i hit homers, mostly solo ones since i dont get many people on base. I win games with scoring 3 or fewer runs and it is very aggravating. I play on all star hitting and pitching and I am struggling big time hitting, even as a MLB The Show veteran. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I wouldnt fret too much. In most of the franchises ive played, my offense starts out pretty cold and my pitching carries me through the first month.

This is kind of generic advice, but just try to work the count...make the pitcher throw more pitches, then he is more likely to make a mistake over the plate, and you are more likely to draw walks.

Also find what pitches/locations each of your hitters struggle with and which ones they crush. That will help you come up to the plate with a strategy for each player. Hopefully this will help. Good Luck!

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Back to continue my Cardinals Fantasy draft franchise.

The only owner moves I made this week was Canning Mike Matheny and promoting Jose Oquendo to Manager. He's a good manager too helps Power and control. It helps my wild pitching staff and puts my hitters over the hump. Less warning track power.

I have a winning streak going. Thought is was gone 2 games ago. The Reds hung a 6 pack on me in the top of the 1st on a 3 run homer then a 3 run error by Jay Bruce in left (Jay Bruce is playing for me). But we chipped away all game and won 8-6.

Last game started with a walk by Billy Hamilton stole 2nd , 3rd an then scored on a line out to left up 1-0 on Chris sale in the 1st with 1 out . Proceeded to hit a 2 run homer with Christian Bethancourt in the 5th then piled on from there. Carlos Martinez thru 7 scoreless with only 3 ks and then was pulled for Yusmeiro Petit to finish the last 2 innings. Carlos was getting tired and I'm not running my starters late this early in the season.

                Last line up :

                Billy Hamilton CF
                Carlos Correa SS
                Bryce Harper RF
                Miguel Sano 1B
                Jay Bruce DH
                Randall Grichuk LF
                Christian Bethancourt C
                Josh Harrison 3B (Struggling)
                Kolten Wong 2B

                Bench:
                Stephen Piscotty
                Carlos Santana
Odubel Herrera ( Subbed in the 4th for Carlos Correa. Up 1 run Carlos ended the inning at the plate so I gave him some rest as he was at ab 3/8 Energy to start game. Had to start him against Chris Sale tho)

Carlos Martinez 7ip 5 hits 3 ks. Could never throw a good 0-1 pitch but they only missed 8 pitches all game. So he didn't have his best stuff so I pitched to more contact than his usual style.

Yusmeiro Petit 2 ip. Lights out.

So now I'm ready to update my AAA Team. I pitched with Jose Berrios earlier tn. I scored 3 runs in the 1st then summed the batting. Fast forwarding 1/2 inning. They ended up scoring like 15 for me tn. Never seen that before. Berrios racked up 10 ks in 7 innings. Then pulled him for the shutout. He pitched a long game last time and wasn't 100% to start game so just being careful.

                Line up:

                Addison Russel SS
                Garrin Cechini 3B
                Joey Gallo DH
                Kyle Schwarber C
                Yasmany Thomas RF
                Carlos Peguero LF
                Matt Olson 1B
                Gabriel Noriega 2B
                Courtney Hawkins CF

                Bench:
                Tom Murphy C
                Clint Barmes SS
                Juan Perez CF

                Rotation:

Marcus Stroman (Currently working on mechanics)
                Adam Conley
                Luis Cessa
                Jose Berrios
                Julio Urais

                LR Brandon League
                LR Neil Wagner
                MR Jeanmar Gomez
                MR Michael Kohn
                MR Matt Brazis
                MR Anthony Vararo
                SU Tommy Laybe lefty specialist
                CL Carlos Marmol

This game Cechini played 3rd over Gallo to give him a puff.

Really like my AAA team. Big swing and miss squad but capitalizing on mistakes in the minors are fun. Marcus Stroman 1st simulated game was complete game shut out. I guessed he is pissed being sent to minors. So 2 more good starts and I will consider bring him back up.

I really like the character you add to your franchise. It's alotta games and you have to spice it up. Add some commentary and storylines of your own. I play with my cousin and he appreciates when I take notice of things on his team and build excitement for him. My self too. Some of the snipets I liked :

"Like only the Cubs can do" lol Thats baseball.

Hurdle does make great moves IRL. I like the correlation.

Those silly swings reminds me of a few of my games.

Taillon coming out showing why he's a highly touted prospect. He is a huge 100mph throwin BA. Watched him pitch for team Canada like 2-3 years ago. He should be beast mode now.

So what was I doing during the Christmas holiday week? Experiencing a September to Remember!

Going 13-2 (includes (2) Sweeps of the Marlins, & Nationals) helping to propel me at the top of the NL Eastern Division by 2 games!

Taking a nice break before Yankee series (New Years holiday game play fun) by watching Nats - Miami game play out.

Dodgers 1st team to claim division title. Top ERA Leaders all in playoff picture.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I just started a Rockies franchise. I like their uniforms, the stadium's cool in its own way, the team needs a lot of help, and I feel like I could realistically build the team in my image. I'm using September rosters so Tulo is gone and I have the Blue Jays' prospects that Colorado acquired for TT. I simmed to the draft, and drafted players (2 high potential SPs and a promising 1B highlighted my selections.)

I simmed to the ASB and LeMahieu was the only Rockie to make the game (Arenado was definitely snubbed.) Our team has gotten snakebitten by injuries all year ling; Gonzalez missed a lot of time and our SPs can't stay healthy. Even when they do, they're mediocre.

I simmed to September. My yearly goal is to finish .500 and my contract goal is to make the playoffs. Well, in early September, we were hovering around .500 and just outside if the WC spots. I simmed to late December. Sitting one game under .500 mid-month, I played a game against the Pirates. It was a close game early on, and the Pirates led 2-1 going into the bottom half of the sixth. Colorado erupted, scoring 5 runs, 3 of which game on an inside the park, 3 RBI homer from rookie David Dahl. The Rockies won 6-2 to reach .500.

I simmed a few games ahead, and the Rockies have reached .500 again at 79-79 with 4 games left. The Rockies finish up a road series at Arizona before a three game set with the Giants to end the year. The Giants hold the 2nd WC spot while we are 3 games back of them. If we sweep the Giants (and beat Arizona, I believe) we make the playoffs.

I'm already having a bunch of fun with this, I might just keep this one going for the foreseeable future.

Just finished Spring Training in my first year with the Tigers. Played Opening Day and went 13 against the Twins only to fall 4-3 to them. I hit into 4 double plays, it was very frustrating but I love it. I simply love to hate this game sometimes.

                              Hey guys,

I've played through a few seasons with the jays playing every game, about 100 games of a Marlins franchise and about 50 games of a Diamondbacks franchise

What are your guys value picks or players that are fairly easy to get but are exceptional for any franchise

                              Value picks
                              Justin turner
                              Brock holt

                              Fairly easy

I'll agree with Holt, and add
Tanner Roark, and Ryan Zimmerman from the Nats.

I acquired both for depth in a trade for Dustin Ackley, and they each have been solid. Zimmerman has been consistently a .290+, 4 or 5 hitter, while Roark seemingly "forced" his way into my rotation out of the pen, In 6 starts, 5-1 2.11 ERA .97 Whip.

My team is 21st in league Era, so pitching isnt my strong-suit.
