Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Through Mid-August, the Marlins might not make the playoffs at all.
After a 13-13 July, the Marlins are off to another horrible start to a month going 5-8 through the first half of August.
This has put the Marlins in 3rd place in the NL East, 2 games behind the Nationals for the division lead.
The problem is the offense again. Pretty much everyone except Chris Davis is inconsistent at best. Stanton in particular has been very disappointing, causing some to think he might be shopped around in the offseason. Matt Baldwin is likely to get more looks and with veterans Nori Aoki and Eric Young, Jr. along with Ben Revere, the Marlins could go with a speed-and-defense outfield quite easily.
The rotation is trying to keep the team going. The highest ERA in the rotation is Iwakuma at 3.42 as the veteran starter has proven to be a good pickup this season.
The bullpen is settling down with Dominic Leone's second stint at the majors this year going far, far better than what he did in the first couple months. The question mark has shifted to Paco Rodriguez as he's been very shaky, costing the team more than a few wins in the 9th.
At the plate, it's the same story. Chris Taylor, Chris Davis, Christian Yelich...and hope for the best. This has introduced a new weakness - southpaws.
Lefties weaken Chris Davis and Yelich doesn't even hit the field against lefties. This has left Stanton and Santana to try to pick it up. Last year, this was fine. This year, not so much. Stanton has been below standard while Santana has been hurt and struggled when healthy.
Jose Campos also suffered an injury and will miss some weeks. Ben Revere fought through his, but his bad luck season continues to haunt him. Revere's BABIP on line drives since coming to the Marlins have been a paltry .420...the league average is over .700.
Campos' injury has thrown the infield into a mess. Solano is still out with his second major injury of the season, and Hechavarria still hasn't learned how to hit. This leaves it to David Sohn, the slugging infielder the team had hoped to refine in AAA, to fill the gap.
Sohn's defense is an issue, aside from his cannon for an arm. Right now, he's likely to split some time with Santana (who's not exactly Brooks Robinson at 3B) and also sub for Chris Davis at the other corner. The team also called up 1B Russell Parrott, an under-the-radar prospect who quietly put himself on the organizational radar."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
I have about 10 games left to play in my 2015 Yankees franchise and have clinched the AL East. The Red Sox are 12 GMs back and have one of the wild card spots locked up. I won my 100th game of the season last night. Wont quite match the Yankees 1998 record (114-48) but I had a great season so far. Hoping I am able to carry over the success into the post season.
The only move I made was to trade Eovaldi and Ryan to the Reds for Brandon Phillips and a pitching prospect. Eovaldi didn't do well for me and I like Brandon Phillips in real life so I decided to trade for him.
I am going to play a few more regular season games and then sim to the postseason since I pretty much stamped my post season ticket.
Since youtube gaming dropped a couple of days ago, im going to post some of my games to my youtube channel instead of twitch.
I played half my season on All star default and decided to up the challenge by playing on HoF default towards the end.Last edited by ckarlic; 08-27-2015, 12:39 PM.PSN: ckarlic

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Well, I guess the all-star break did my Cubbies some good because we won 7 straight coming out of the break and now 10 of 12.
The division race has heated up big time. We just split a four game set with PIT and all three of us (with STL) are tied for 1st with the Cubs mere percentage points ahead at 59-49.
The biggest problem we have now is a serious one - Rondon has been really shaky at closer. The last game against PIT, he got the save despite allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in the 9th. Luckily, the starting pitching has been very good so the bullpen is not tired. Lester has 6 complete games this year, and Hamel 4.
But, oh the errors! That same game against PIT, there were 11 runs in the game (we won 6-5) with only 3 of them earned. Both teams sucked out loud. Hard to believe we're fighting for 1st place with defense that bad.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
I need your help picking a team for franchise. I already have a franchise with my white sox, but I also want to do something different. I want to take a team that hasn't had a lot of success and completely revamp them. I was thinking maybe the rays or the a's. I want to steer clear of AL Central teams and the Cubs just because I cannot stomach using a white sox rival as a sox fan. Should I do a fantasy draft or just revamp whatever team I choose? What do you all think? And what team should I choose?Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
My Franchise has come to a grinding halt and I need help. Pretty Please.
I am in my first OFFSEASON. I just finished making offers/renewing contracts of all my plaayers I want to keep. I get to the time where I can make offers to qualified Free agents. I find a player (Colby Rasmus) I like - and I have plenty of Budget room:
So I make an offer (Yes I am over paying for Colby Rasmus but follow me here). I still have plenty of room under budget compared vs. pending offers:
So then I sim to the next day - and THIS happens.
I don't know what to do or what I am doing wrong. I get lost in the minutiae of baseball so is there a rule I am missing or not aware of? I would really appreciate any guidance you can give. Thanks in advance.Comment

Try not giving him a 8MM/yr contract first lol. But The Show has seen its fair share of bugs in franchise mode so it may be a glitch/bug unfortunately.Comment

I had this problem too. I had read on here that you'll get that message if you dont already have a full 40 man roster set. So try filling that out real quick then go back and try to sign himOakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

5 games back with 10 to play. I don't think this is going to go the way I'm hoping.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Well, I got bored so I simmed the rest of the season. The Cubs actually won the division, and despite me playing all 3 games, we were swept right out of the NLDS by Washington. Ouch. The Cubs always had trouble with elite pitching and the Nats certainly had that.
Well, the off-season did not go well at all. I re-signed Arrietta, but had to renew the contracts of Baez and Russell (they wouldn't bit at excellent offers), so I only have them for one more year.
I really ran out of budget money fast. I let Haren go, but made an interesting trade right before spring training started, getting Verlander and a minor league catcher for Dexter Fowler and an overpriced AAA SP. That freed up a nice amount of money that I can use later for trades. Verlander will be the best 4th starter in the history of MLB (after Arrietta, Lester, and Hamel).
So now, I need to look at the lineups and see who leads off. Probably Russell (great speed). I'll start the season with Russell-Baez-Bryant (rookie of the year last year)-Rizzo-Soler batting 1-5. That's tons of speed at the top of the lineup assuming Russell can get on base more than last year. The pitching is excellent, so if my guys can score runs, we have a legitimate shot at a pennant this year (needed to keep my job lol).
Oh, and I had that same issue with "not having enough budget to sign guys even though I did." It wound up not being a problem because the trade I made freed up $9 mil and then spring training started.Comment

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread
Well, here we are. The final weekend of the season, and though it hasn't been going well, my Cubbies hold a one game lead over St. Louis. I did sweep Pittsburgh in my final regular-season home series, but lost two of three in Cincinnati. Fortunately, St. Louis got swept in Pittsburgh.
So, this is it. Friday, October 2nd, it's Jake Arrieta (10-14, 4.17 ERA) vs. Matt Garza (11-8, 3.60 ERA). Saturday, it'll be Travis Wood (13-7, 3.02 ERA) vs. Wily Peralta (11-16, 3.92 ERA), and finally I close it out Sunday with a struggling Jason Hammel (9-13, 4.88 ERA) tentatively starting against Kyle Lohse (6-6, 3.55 ERA).
Anything can happen. Wish me luck!Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment
