Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?
So do you want to have a version of the game to have classic hitting where you press a button just as the pitcher throws the ball and base on hitter ratings the outcome will occur positive or negative?
I never got this. I want to play the game and if pitching is just to hit a button and the rating of a player will determine the posibility of the outcome why pick up the controller?
If that is such a sim thing then why not the same for hitting and just not field and let the cpu field.
With pulse, I feel like I have less control over where the pitch is going than I do with classic. Especially when I try to throw the pitchers 4th or 5th pitches. The circle is bouncing so fast that it is near impossible to ever get it reasonably small.
Meter is ok, but it takes too long and I hate adding things onto the screen. Plus, I cant watch the pitcher as he is pitching because I have to look at the meter.
If there was an option to hide the meter and just time the release of the ball based on the pitchers leg kick and release point, I would totally use that.Comment

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?
I like analog from an input standpoint, but I think it is too forgiving. I find meter harder and have been trying that this year. I also use a house rule that I have to move the left stick at least a little on all pitches, and that I have to move it until I feel a little vibration on fastballs. That keeps me from grooving pitches when behind.
One thing I wish you could do is set quick counts for pitching only. I could see using Classic and quick counts for my pitching some games, but sticking with full counts when batting.Comment

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?
I like classic pitching because it is all about pitch sequencing and location. I still have total control over what pitch Im throwing, and it generally goes in the location I want it to go to. And I like that the ratings are somewhat taken into account for the control of the pitch. I control everything else.

Classic with everything turned off (strike zone, vibration, all pitching aids, etc..) is the most challenging & as close to simulation as it gets for me.Comment

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?
Pulse: After awhile I just get a massive headache trying to mash the button at the right time while watching the cursor blink.
Meter: The actual meter itself, even when shrunk, is too intrusive on the screen. I spend more time focusing on the meter than enjoying the surrounding graphics and such. I like to watch the pitcher do his windup.
Analog: A little less intrusive than meter but much more forgiving. I find it too easy on any difficulty and it's really hard to throw a ball than a strike when timed wrong unlike meter. The motions of analog allow me to focus my attention more on the scene than the analog meter.
Classic: Controlled exclusively by sliders, can make it easier or harder. Balls and strikes are based primarily on attributes and not user input. I can focus all my attention onto the scene at play and not any meters or popups. Other than lacking a "fun" factor Classic is the way to go for me.Comment

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?
That classic takes the ratings into affect doesn't mean ratings don't mean anything using the other methods.
I used to play with classic liked it my only problem was I didn't really feel like I was playing, like I had no input.
Made the switch to meter and really like it.
I think meter takes ratings and user input into account, kind off a mixture of both worlds. Still have to some more training though.
Still pretty new to mlb the showComment

That's what timing is and quite a few people like it.
It's not for me but it is already an option in the game for hitting.Comment

This thread has persuaded me to give classic and timing a go. I have been meter/pulse pure analog/zone guy the past few years and I am looking for a change.
