There is a huge problem with relying on this data. First, when I X through a cut-scene, I may have watched 95% of that cutscene, but it might still count as me skipping it.

Second, the presentation is most important during tense situations. Yeah, I may X through it with nobody on and two outs and I've been hacking all night, but bases loaded and bottom of the ninth I want to savor every moment.

It's a small thing but I hope they add this stuff back in in MLB 16.

Maybe in 16 we could see the animations cut down during the more routine part of the game and ramped up when the game gets tense. More cut scenes when a runner is in scoring position in a close game and when it's 7-0, go with short cuts.

Re: Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

We're told that some of the cut-scene footage was pared down in order to quicken the game pace, and yet it seems there's an increase in the number of replays on individual pitches in the at-bat, and so far it seems to me they're replaying some insignificant pitches, like a 2-0 fastball on the corner.

These replays are happening too often for my taste and bog the game down just as much as cut-scenes ever did. What's worse, some are taken from impossible camera angles, like ground level right in front of home plate. This is certainly not immersive for me and smacks of some of the annoying presentation aspects that plagued Madden for years before I stopped playing it.

If the objective was making it so people don't have to 'x' out of the cutscene so often, they succeeded, and yet instead I find myself 'x'-ing out of these replays.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, SCEA.

        Otherwise a superb game.

It seems to me like SCEA SD is trying to cater to the largest audience as possible. And who can blame them?

Back at CD in 2012, I spent a good portion of one afternoon taking notes on plays that were cutting too abruptly. At the time I had asked Chris SCEA if these cuts were intentional, and...again...at the time, they were not. The goal was for every animation and cutscene to play out in full.

Since then, we've been given this new generation of hardware. This means the possibility of drastically growing the customer base. Though I am personally extremely disappointed that their philosophy has changed in this regard (though I am thrilled they gave us QC's), I completely understand if their analytics ushered them in this new direction.

Though I'm not implying it was ever on the verge, we would all be devastated if the game ever got canceled. They need to sell units and I'm sure a faster game really helps with that.

Do I like it? Absolutely not. Do I get it? Definitely yes.

Am I the only one noticing the cpu first pitch swinging? Imo this is a far greater issue than removing cut scenes as gameplay is actually being tuned for a quicker game.
My hunch tells me this is done because many people will use quick counts(I'm not one of them) so generating realistic pitch counts won't matter if they are artificially made by quick counts

Not seeing it in CPU vs CPU games nor do I see it in MoM games. There are definitely first pitch balls in those two modes. So if they are always swinging on the 1st pitch it is in the Human vs CPU game modes. However all is not well in Mudville as they stopped the CPU base runners from taking the extra step while leading from 1st and also they removed the "Runners" HUD window from CPU vs CPU games as well as MoM games. They told us some of these modes would be unchanged, that they would work just as they did in MLB 14, but this is not the case. The game is still fun to play, the graphics are outstanding, but this is one of the buggier releases I have ever seen them deliver.

                This.

I was winning by a run early into the game when the cpu hit a 2 RBI single to take the lead and besides a quick mention by matt V there was no other indication of what had happened,no replay of the hit or the runners crossing home.None of this emotion stuff we have been hearing about.Zilch.

I don't understand why every run scored doesn't have a replay of the runner crossing home or of the hit that got him home at least, i don't get to watch many games so not sure if it's normal for runs scored not to be replayed in real broadcast's.

I have mentioned this a few times on here but one of the most exciting things i saw in the stream's was a replay from the broadcast camera when Kirby hit a 3 run DBL that showed the runners rounding the bases and crossing home,no zooming in or following the ball. Am yet to see any indication of that replay yet but i hope it is in the game.

I am very jealous of you ps4 version owners but I will say I am glad the PS3 version has foul ball tracking, tons of replays and cut scenes. I sure hope they add these details back in next year for ps4. I want my baseball experience to be slow and a full representation of each moment. Then again I am old so maybe not the target demographic.

Yesterday I fired up my MLB 13 on the PS3 as I wanted to play a game to confirm certain features worked a certain way in that game that have since been altered or down right removed in the modern MLB 15 PS4 iteration. The graphics on the PS3 are painful to play once you have been exposed to the new lighting models of the PS4 release. But playing my game on the PS3 was a pleasure as I confirmed that in my MLB 13 MoM game, the opposition base runners occasionally took an extra step off of 1st base on their leads (they also did this in the MLB 14 PS4 game), and you as the defending team could occasionally pick them off when they took the extra step (something very rare in the MLB 14 game). But be careful because the roles are reversed. If you in MLB 13 instructed your base runners to either steal 2nd or execute a hit and run, your base runners could get picked off as well (something that did not happen at all in MLB 14). In MLB 15 the base runners never take that extra step any more, meaning the game makers have completely taken the possibility of ever picking a base runner off at 1st base out of the game.

Yes the graphics on the PS4 is supreme. But the game play is inferior. How can this happen? But it has. The poor game play of MLB 15 is not bad enough to drive me back to playing MLB 13 (the graphics are that good on MLB 15 for the PS4). But needless to say I am rather disappointed that the game play for MoM games was at it's best in MLB 13 and then took a step for the worse in MLB 14 and has taken another step for the worse again in MLB 15.

They will never take a strike first pitch . Will swing almost 100% on first pitch strikes

Raise a bug if you haven't done so already. The CPU batters do take 1st pitch strikes in CPU vs CPU games as well as in MoM games and they should also be taking 1st pitch strikes in normal Human vs CPU play as it's part of the game, taking the 1st pitch.

Are you saying you see this on legend but not HOF?

You won't get me to deny the CPU swings at TOO many first pitch strikes. But there is no way they swing at 100% first pitch strikes.

Maybe don't throw so many first pitch fastballs?

I played 13 and I feel like the PS3 gameplay is better on 15. I don't want to derail as I know this is the current gen section but I do feel the PS3 build is pretty solid. I hear what you guys are saying...if I saw the ps4 graphics I could never go back. Ignorance is bliss and I am finding the PS3 version pretty stellar from a graphics standpoint. I think they did a brilliant job with blurring some of the background details and giving quality visuals where it counts.
