Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
How do the pitch edits affect the dynamic pitch break? Doesn't each pitcher have their own unique break in the game based off pitch data? What happens if you edit their pitches (like Tanaka) or give them new pitches (like Carlos Martinez a slider instead of a curve)Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
What about the Angels guys? Now with Hamilton and one of their bad contracts gone they seem more appealing to me as they should be better off going forward.
They have decent pitching, a solid line up, good defense and with Trout one really exciting player.
The lack of depth in the infield as well as the outfield is the only real problem. I'm using the OFSM V.2 roster and looked at the available FAs, I added Arruebarrena (recently released by the Dodgers) as a quality SS, as well as Calors Quentin as somewhat of a replacement for Josh Hamilton.Spending time with Jesus!

thought about the Angeles also, always intrigued with teams that have a lack of depth because i feel it causes the need for more trading IE brewers and white sox. one thing i keep thinking on is what about the twins pulling a padres and trading their prospects (outside of buxton and sano and kohl/berritos) for a 1 or 2 starter and a big bopper?Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I just got the game for PS4 a few days ago (after many years of playing on PS3). The graphical upgrade is pretty mind-blowing, and the directional hitting is everything I've ever wanted. I've never been so excited about The Show.
There is also something different about the pitching, but I can't put my finger on it. Pitching is a ton of fun-- I like it just as much as hitting.
Anyway, I've chosen the Cubs for franchise. They have everything I am looking for: great ballpark, top-shelf young talent, good starting pitching, beautiful uniforms, a cool manager, and best of all, bringing the Cubs a championship would be more meaningful and rewarding than doing so with any other team. I can't wait to get home from work and start my second series (took 2 of 3 from St. Louis).
Peace!Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Cubs are one of the most fun teams, I ran a franchise with them but felt like restarting after V.2 roster dropped and after playing so many games with them already I didn't want to do it all over again.
Is their line up really that bad? I feel they have some good hitters: Cuddyer, Wright, Murphy, Duda, Granderson and there is really no one who can't hit at all? Trading away a pitching prospect or two you could also a acquire another good hitter, maybe a SS? Been looking at Segura or even Castro.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I live in Vancouver, and don't have a hometown team here. But I've followed the Blue Jays since I was a kid. I got into baseball in the late 80's I think in '87 or so. Kelly Gruber became my favorite player when the Blue Jays were dominating in the early 90's. I've paid most attention to the AL East over the years. The Blue Jays are my favorite "hometown team", and I'm extremely intrigued by the history of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. I appreciate talented players on all teams, and fascinated by the stadiums and skylines of each team. I think this is a good way to choose a team to control in franchise mode as well! Rosters comprised of younger athletic versatile players tend to be teams I cheer for I'd say (other than Blue Jays & Yankees). So if I was starting a franchise I'd start by player with the Blue Jays and try building a World Series dynasty. If for some reason I couldn't do it and was give the freedom of free agency I'd sign with the New York Yankees. I'm just so intrigued by New York!
Creating rookie baseball players for use in MLB The Show: Road To The Show. The Road to the Show (RTTS) mode has quickly become a popular mode, and with that comes an emphasis on controlling a lesser-talented rookie player for an entire career. It’s quite real. But so is franchise mode. With that being said, I’ve come up with a new method for creating baseball players. I start with a new spreadsheet and enter in the ratings of a positional player who emphasizes speed, contact and glove. And then on the row below I enter in the attributes for a player who emphasizes strength, power and arm. Then, I have all the various skills such as contact, power, fielding ability, base running ability listed in each subsequent column. In the last column is the total number of points allocated to each player. When added up in the last column, you’ll see that the attribute ratings awarded to each type of player is fairly equal. It varies for each position, but every player ranges from 500 to 600 points. The attributes will range from 0 to 60.
Keep that in mind when creating your players. This is the most fair and authentic method in player creation on MLB The Show. Come up with a list of fictitious characters you’ve conjured up. Make them from common baseball countries such as the United States, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Japan, etc. Envision them playing Major League Baseball. What do they look like? Customize them with a specific appearance, height, weight, uniform number etc. Then assign each player his attributes using the 0 to 60 ratings. Once you have designed a plethora of players in your database then create them on your MLB game. You could either leave each of them as a free agent and wait for MLB teams to sign them or assign them to a team yourself. Personally I prefer to assign every one of my created players to an MLB team. This ensures them of playing minor league baseball right away as they won’t quite be good enough to play in the show right away. They’ll develop in the minors and work their way up, just like real life. Scatter the players around Major League Baseball, and see them flourish and become the superstars of their new teams. You’ll probably feel a sense of accomplishment when these player begin making a name for themselves and making the all-star teams and winning awards and World Series titles.

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
All things considered I would want to make a case for the Orioles, they might not be the best and most appealing at anything but still rank among the top 10 in pretty much every aspect:
They have a nice ballpark, irl and even more so in game in among the best looking ones, top 10 at least. Pretty much they same goes for their unis.
They are playing in an all around interesting division.
They are one of one of the best teams defensively and I know from my own experience that this will spare you from a lot of frustration, that fact shouldn't be underestimated.
Their line up is also one of the better ones in the game, with good contact hitters and even better power hitters.
They have some young exciting players like Machado, Schoop, Bundy, Gausman..
Several key guys are heading into FA at the end of the season, you can leave your mark there.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I love using the Cubs because:
Anthony Rizzo
Kris Bryant
Jorge Soler
Starlin Castro
Addison Russell
Javier Baez
Are all young and MLB ready with A potential. They're all already on the roster and Rizzo's a 93 in my first season with Bryant, Soler, Castro, and Russell all in the 80's. It's allowing me to fight to get into the playoffs my first year and even have a chance at winning the division, but eventually be able to build the team into a powerhouse. Obviously my bullpen needs work and Jake Arrieta has been struggling all season with like a 4-7 record, but I have tons of hitters to build on. It also gives me room to mess around and possibly replace some of my starters, because Wada and Hendricks are also subpar in general.
I'm a big Rangers fan, but I wish Chi Chi's and Gallo's rating would go up, it'd be great bc they're the two I would probably build the future of the franchise around. Not to mention they've both been playing lights out. Although they have played too many games, I think they'll eventually do enough to get a ratings boost. Idk what Gallo's power is in the game, but in real life when he gets thrown to he's hitting bombs. Lots of walks and lots of strikeouts will probably happen early on in his career, but his discipline so far has been better than perceived and when this guy connects he hits the ball harder than anybody else on the team.
Wish Rougned Odor was A potential because I think he's gonna be a star in real life. Also like Delino DeShields and Hanser Alberto, solid guys. My only problem using the Rangers is I don't like messing with the rosters too much and I kind of stick with the best players, so with Josh Hamilton in left field, Adrian Beltre at 3rd base, and Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland playing some 1st base and DH, it doesn't leave me much room for Gallo. Kyle Blanks is also in the midst and my biggest problem is Hamilton, Fielder, and Moreland are all left handed. I really want to use Gallo bc he's fun to play with and I want to turn him into a star, but at the same time he's not the 3rd baseman and overall player Beltre is and idk if I really want to sit Beltre out some games just bc he's facing a right handed pitchers. It's kind of like the same situation the Rangers are having to deal with in real life, it's a good problem to have but decisions still have to be made. Any other year I would've let Gallo take over Moreland's spot as the designated hitter and let him play 3rd base here and there but Moreland's showing some real power and is having a phenomenal season thus far.
Also think the bullpen in Texas is fun, Shawn Tolleson's a solid new official closer for the time being and I want to say their other closer other than Feliz (the guy the game generates) is an A potential in the game, although I may be wrong. Keone Kela can develop into the relieve player the Rangers need and unlike in real life I would have Yu Darvish this year to be THE ace guy until Chi Chi Gonzales develops to either take his place or be the #2.
Interested in knowing what other people think about the Cubs/Rangers and also how would you guys draft with those two teams? Although I've played a couple of The Show games in the past and I play this one a lot, I really don't know as much about baseball as some other sports and idk how to manage a roster and what I'm supposed to look for in the draft as far as players and positions. That sort of stuff.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I just decided to part ways with an 8 year franchise with the royals (carried over from 14). Loved it, but got hit with the high pitcher potentials leading to low offense league wide. Time to move on.
Looking to go deep with another team and like many others, having a hard time picking. I have narrowed it down to the Jays, Angels, Pirates, and Dodgers.
Trout is my favorite player (truly the next Mantle) and it would be nice to finish out a strong career with Albert, but those are really the only two things drawing me to the Angels.
The other teams would definitely be fun from day 1 and would have a lot of pieces to work with in the future. I also somewhat considered the Mariners and O's, but had to narrow things down a bit.
I never thought I would say this, but ballparks and uniforms end up playing an important role when going 5-10 years into a franchise. Have to have something nice to look at. I really don't care as much about rebuilding, as I will have plenty of time to make the team my own.
Would love to hear what some of you think about going deep with these teams. I have really enjoyed reading some of the posts in this thread.Comment
