Last 2 diamond dynasty games I played my opponents bunted quite often. Kind of annoying.

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
Do you watch baseball? this is so false its not even funny. Most professional players cant bunt. The sacrifice bunt rate was under 70% in baseball last year, and that is just sacrifices, doesnt include bunting for hits.
MLB teams averaged 18 bunt hits per year last year, there were 4 players in MLB last year with double digit bunt hits for the year.
In 650 at bats, Dee Gordon led baseball with 20, thats one every 8 games.
most professional players can't bunt!?(or they just don't do it because they are professional!)
Yes, I watch Baseball.
I really do not believe bunting is made too easy in this game. It is as easy as it is in real life!
I can't bunt for base hits when I want but I can lay down a good bunt down the line with a good bunter in the right situation given the right timing and provided I get my bat out quick enough.
sure bunting a 95 mph would be hard and very intimidating and in all honesty i find laying down a sacrifice is harder because the cpu knows I am bunting.
the issues people are having are related to the difficulty in which they play on.Comment

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
Yeah bunting is far from easy, I never was worth a darn at it, and I was a pitcher, lol. If it was easy then Billy Hamilton would be bunting for base hits all the time with his speed, and guys that get shifted hard on would just be laying down bunts with ease.
Big difference between practice bunting with a pitching machine or batting practice, much different and a lot harder to get it done in a game, especially with not knowing whats coming and 95+ heat as well.
so because you were a pitcher you are presumably better than the average hitter at bunting? You couldn't hit so that makes you better at bunting!? Your hands were chiselled by god and clearly those hands were made for bunting and poor Adrian Gonzalez could never do that!
maybe Billy Hamilton would do it if he could get a pitch to do it but I am sure every pitcher/catcher/3rd basemen and baseball player knows what Billy Hamilton's strength is. Besides the guy has enough speed to make singles doubles. certainly when i pitch to billy hamilton i am aware of this strength and will pitch accordingly.
Just because extreme pull hitters see that opposite field wide open they still aren't going to move away from their strengths! If I am Adrian Gonzalez I am going to bet on my hitting ability and power and the possibility of an extra base hit over a bunt single! The CPU does exactly that.
I agree about execution in a game but I am not all that successful playing on legend when it comes to bunting. Bunting is not an issue for me. It's as easy as it should be. even when i successfully lay one down the line the catcher usually gets my guy even with speedsters.
Higher difficulties can solve this GLARING isssue.Last edited by HouseKeepinItReal; 04-21-2015, 10:13 PM.Comment

Definitely looks like a major issue after seeing these bunts happen in thise vids. Hopefully something the devs notice and fix.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
One of the first things I noticed playing this game. Both the USER and CPU hit insane bunts. All of them are basically perfect. Especially speed players. Everyone has 99 bunt. Please FIX!Comment

You don't have to do this. Use the Share button instead and save that video. It's an amazing tool in cases like this that can really help the devs out. Help them help us to get these bugs squashed.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
Just finished up a game with the Indians in which they beat me on back to back bunts in the 11th. They had first and second with no outs and tried a sac bunt but my 3rd basemen couldn't even pick it up. Next batter they do a suicide squeeze on the first pitch and the ball is perfectly placed rolling down the first base side. This one instance doesn't happen very often but too often does the cpu reach base by bunting, half the time my guy tries to barehand it and doesn't even pick the ball up.Comment

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
I remember a couple weeks ago, I saw 4 consecutive bunts in a CPU vs CPU game. Bases were loaded with no one out. Next two batters had the most perfect bunt hits on suicide squeeze attempts. Then the next two batters had suicide squeezes as well but were barely thrown out at first. That's 4 runs right there w/o getting the ball out of the infield.
If you pitch well enough, you can probably win in this game by having every batter bunt for hits, since at times, seems easier than anything else.Comment

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
some of us are not having this problem but i do remember my first year playing the show (MLB 11) and playing in the world series against the yankees and losing in game 6 to a suicide squeeze.
Whenever I throw too many strikes I notice the CPU will start the hit n run.
Since playing on legend I have never encountered these problems, except when i am being predictable and throwing too many strikes.
Try putting the hitter in a hitter's count, dare him to swing!Comment

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
That was just an example the guy was using to help point out an issue that alot of people are having. I'm also not seeing the issue as badly as others but I do acknowledge that it does exist. I'm glad you don't see it and aren't affected by it but I don't understand why you are even posting what seems like a snide remark in a thread that you clearly aren't even involved in whatsoever. If this isn't affecting you just ignore the thread. I don't get it.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
Even when trying to sacrifice a runner over, even guys with average speed will beat out the throw for a hit. That is, if the 3rd baseman, catcher or pitcher even field the ball to begin with... I hope it is addressed."Don't be afraid to go to number 23, he's alright."Comment

Re: Bunts are such a glaring problem compared to everything else
But back on the bunting theme and the animations, I have another video stored on my PS4 that shows a sacrifice bunt attempt clearly landing foul from the batter's box towards the 1st base line before the ball comes back fair, and where the 1st baseman picks it up and tags the batter out. Since I was controlling the team trying to execute the sacrifice, what did I care I got the result I was looking for, even if the video clearly showed the ball landing foul before the tag. I guess even in this game the umps can make bad calls, though as I said most of the time on other plays they are correct.
If that's the case, then there is no mistake. The ball isn't foul just because it touches foul territory. If it is between home plate and 1st/3rd base, then the ball isn't foul until someone touches it in foul territory or it stops moving in foul territory. The ball can go foul then roll back fair, and it is considered a fair ball if it was not touched.Comment
