You know what else you have yet to see this year? Anything resembling a realistic hitting interface... What unintuitive, suspension-of-disbelief-killing, slipshod, button-mashing, skill-less, worthless flicks were you making when you failed to notice any suicide squeezes? I played less than ten minutes of a single game before I took the smelly turd back to GameStop (feeling happy to get 16 bucks back --more than it was worth, frankly) and the AI suicide-squeezed in that 10 minute period.

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
I agree that in the MLB we rarely see them. What I am not sure of is one, what difficulty the people who see it a ton are playing on. Also, in the real MLB pitchers are watching for it. They are throwing non or non easily buntable pitches. Thirdbasemen are holding runners on. Are we doing all these things? If a real MLB pitcher ignored a runner on third and threw Longoria a perfect pitch for bunting maybe he would lay it down.
Not saying it is our fault.
But since it was an issue for me and I adjusted how I handle the situation it no longer happens. Also, some are having it happen like crazy more than others or I ever did.
I agree it is unrealistic and happens too much but am wondering why some have it happening more than I even have the CPU load the bases or get runners on third. I am not claiming to be great at the game or anything. I loose low score late inning games but usually to blasts to the upper deck or doubles to the gap or seeing eye singles or even lame bloops to shallow outfield. 100 games in with the Cubs barely playing over .500 ball and since April have maybe had 2 suicide or regular squeezes run on me. Leadoff guys do bunt slightly more than they should regardless of runners and score but nothing crazy more and typically we get them out.
They can not squeeze without runners on third. So, one concern I would have is why are they getting an unrealistic number of runners on thrid against me. Because I saw someone post it happend three times in five games and am kinda thinking ummmm.. Should not in five games have a super tight score, late innings with runners on third three times. Just my opinion, but no MLB manager would be okay with that regardless of squeeze or not. A bullpen would be getting a good talking to.Last edited by SpritePuck; 05-04-2015, 02:56 PM.Comment

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
Encountered this last night. Season opener, Pirates vs. Reds, bottom of the 10th, bases loaded, 1 out. Reds used it on me, and won.
Not the same issue, but in another game I played last week, the CPU stole HOME on me, TWICE in the same game. The first totally caught me by surprise. After the pitch was taken, the camera changes, and I'm freaking out, like, "wtf is happening ... OH, he's stealing home!". Too late. The second time, I'm ready for it, so I push the analog stick a tad bit to the right, to get him up the 3rd baseline to meet the baserunner, and the catcher takes like 3 BIG STEPS towards the dugout. WTF? The player movement controls in the game were way too sensitive to combat this.Comment

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
I haven't been counting, but I've seen it maybe half a dozen times in about 40-50 franchise games. Playing on dynamic Difficulty (all-star, at this point), no quick counts.
The alarming thing isn't that we are seeing squeeze plays, it's that we are seeing them in instances where it doesn't really make sense. One time that I can vividly remember I was playing the Indians. I was up one in the 8th inning. They had the bases loaded with nobody out, and Brantley at the plate. They squeezed the tying run home with him. No MLB manager is going to squeeze his best hitter when a simple sac fly or ground ball will tie the game, with a single putting them ahead. To make matters worse, the very next hitter (I believe either Carlos Santana or Brandon Moss) also squeezed with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out. It also scored a run.
I guess, kudos to them, as it worked. It doesn't bother me that it is working, it bothers me that it is so out of the realm of reality, for a game that is very much about a realistic simulation.Comment

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
This time, it's Josh Reddick (Bunt 37, Drug Bunt 36) hitting 4th for OAK squeezing, which failed:

It was a 4-3 OAK with one out in the top 9th.Comment

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
It's time for me to get in on the action! Here's a preview of how my game ended.
May 13th, I'm getting no hit, but I'm also shutting them out. After one sac bunt, one bunt for hit, and one safety squeeze, Brandon Moss gets the signal to squeeze in the go ahead run. Since I know it's coming, I decide to bury a curve...

The full video will be coming shortly with more action in the 9th and the game making up for this bug with another bug.Comment

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes
I was angry with the the game. I was openly whining, while questioning how and why it happened even though I KNEW I threw it in the dirt. I didn't confirm my belief until after the game was over and I recorded this.
Okay, here's the full thing. I was getting no-hit. The only thing to the outfield were a couple of soft fly outs by Jon Jay.
You'll get to see a fielding animation not trigger for Wong, Molina slow in getting out Bourn, a great bunt that Marp didn't come in to get, an infield fly, and Brandon Moss producing the miracle you saw earlier.
Then Mark Reynolds comes up and the game makes up for the squeeze bug in it's own way.
