The issue is the regression doesn't hit nearly as hard as progression. You have guys who naturally progress + you get bonuses for doing well. It just seems a bit unbalanced towards progressing too much.

Yeah there needs to be major adjustment to the regression mechanic. A guy who is 27 and a career minor leaguer still has A POT because while he's never been great in the minors, he's never been terrible either.

Mediocre play keeps the potential where it starts.

A "major adjustment" is how progression got where it currently is. I don't think I'm the only person who thinks it was better last year ,rtts users notwithstanding.

I don't mind that if it meant he just didn't make it. A guy can have all the potential in the world and never get there (in fact I have a 25-year-old I'm about to trade because he's been 70/A for 3 years in a row...and I created Tyler Kolek as a 18/19 y/o with 68/A and at 22, he's 71/A...either a late bloomer or he's just not going to make it).

I don't like the potential changing on performance thing as it is (a top prospect isn't going get slammed down because of one bad month...and vice versa isn't true either). Players need their own career arcs and influence from coaching and get away from performance driving development. Performance should be clues to how players are developing, not driving their development.

Hire the 4 cheapest scouts, and leave them idle, come draft day you will have exact potential and overalls for all players.

True, but will they fit your needs? For example I like players with speed who can steal bases. If I search for that criteria I uncover a player or two who fit my need. What I'm doing is searching for 7-10 days for my needs and then scouting those players. After that is finished I leave them idle.

Because it's repeating something that's already been said in the thread.

                      Re: Scouting Doesn't Matter?

I guess I need a little clarity because I thought I was doing this right and I wound up with a really poor class. I'm trying to avoid the drafts with a ton of 24/25 year-old players.

Do I need to have the scouting on MANUAL or AUTO?

Once I hire scouts, do I EVER open up the scouting tab? If so, do I give them directions?

                      Thanks

Yep, That's the downside to not discovering is your draft classes tend to be a little weaker. but to answer your question, go into scouting and set to do nothing and walk away
