The fielding camera needs to be higher up in vantage point. Like a real game:

True that game is from 1989, but the fielding camera has not changed. Neither has the sun and shadows, and I was impressed to see a late-September game behave differently than one in June. I would have been happy with simply making the day games look earlier, and a proper day-to-evening transition, but you guys made the time look exact, to the minute. Nice.
Anyway, a higher angle. I'll be happy with that. Also, I hate to bring up the past, but check out MVP '05, and All-Star Baseball 2004. They had the fielding camera perfect.Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment

I think Medium is pretty darn close to the actual thing, at least the infield view is on ground balls. I think the way the medium cam moves on fly balls could be changed. That would be easier for you to do probably and would make it look more realistic. All you would have to do is watch 1 or 2 games and see how the camera looks and angles on fly balls and wallah! Everyone complains about stuff every year because nothing ever gets done correctly, but its probably because theres 100 different unrealistic opinions out there. Not to say what everyone saying here is ridiculous, because its not. Its just that a lot of the suggestions really have no chance to be implemented into the game itself.Comment

Some visuals to go with my prior post regarding the broadcast fielding camera. This is kind of nitpicking, but for a game that is so realistic this has been a pet peeve of mine.
This is the current broadcast fielding camera for balls hit up the middle of the field, which is realistically placed directly behind home plate:
Nothing wrong with that at all!
However, for balls hit to the left or right side of the field (LF in this case), the angle is to the side of home looking down the foul lines, an angle which isn't seen in a real tv broadcast (except maybe for a replay):
In order to better represent a real tv broadcast, the behind the plate angle should be used for all hits. So really the camera is already in the game, the side angles should just be removed. Some real life examples of how I'd like the broadcast fielding camera to work:

I'd like to see a new/improved broadcast fielding camera as there is one major realism-breaking issue with the current version.
The current broadcast camera jumps between three "locations": behind home plate for hits up the middle of the field, way to the left of home for hits to the right side, and way to the right of home for balls hit to the left side. There should be just one camera location used regardless of where the ball is hit.
The behind the plate location already in the game is great and matches pretty close with what MLB teams use, I don't see why the two side cameras basically looking straight down the foul lines are necessary, and they are not angles used in a broadcast. It doesn't sound like much, but I think using only the behind the plate camera view would be a much better representation of what is seen on a tv broadcast when the ball is hit.
I would love to see a "fixed broadcast camera" option added like this. The base location would be very similar to the current "medium" camera, but the camera would be fixed to that location and would pan left to right as necessary instead of 'jumping' to different locations, and would also zoom in or out depending on if the ball was fielded in the infield or outfield.
Here's some examples:
Infield grounder to 3B, double play to 2B, then 1B (20:25 mark)
Line drive gap hit to right CF (33:52 mark)
Groundout to SS, throw over to 1B (1:19:28 mark)

The outfield first person camera was very difficult to learn at first... but with some work, I got used to it and find it fun to field now as there's always a little change I will screw up a fly ball, just like real life.Comment

Nice post but we can't move the camera like that because the walls in some stadiums would get in the way, the ball would potentially leave the camera view and you wouldn't be able to locate your fielder soon enough.Comment

Yeah because of the outfield corner/wall issue the angle would need to adjust for balls hit down the line in left/right field for gameplay practicality. I use auto fielding but I can imagine the frustration of a gamer using manual fielding losing sight of the ball and having a double become an inside the park hr lolComment

Would it be overly-ambitious to ask for a true, first person camera view... at least when batting? For example, how 2K did in NFL 2K5?

Playing as a catcher in RTTS can be tough when there's a pop-up around the plate. Half the time, the camera will stay at the same angle and I can track fine. Other times, I'll be moving to make the catch and the camera will switch directions and that change messes the input directions as I'm moving. It's annoying when I'm tracking right on my screen to catch the pop-up and then get the camera change where it's now rotated 180 degrees. This cut has no lag to adjust the direction before I'm heading the wrong way.Comment
