Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread
Can someone tell me how to do something like this (1st and 3rd situation)? It's not really about the scoring outcome. How do I control the individual runner (running back and forth, back and forth) without affecting the other runner on base. Pressing R1 and L1 causes everyone to start running.

Has anyone else notice how lackadaisical your shortstop can be sometimes? I'm giving up infield hits left and right because my short stop is taking his sweet time getting the ball to first.

I see casual throw animations at times while preloading, but only when there's a slow runner going to 1st.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread
Are you preloading? It's really vital that you preload SS and 3B throws because of the length of the throw. If you wait until after the catch to choose your target the animations won't branch and you'll get a "throw-ready" throw that will probably be late.

Yes I'm preloading. That's part of why it's so annoying, they're softly hit routine ground balls and my shortstop will field them and then do a hop step before throwing a lollipop to first. The play's end up not even being close at first.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread
Sorry I can't help much then. I see people complain about this year after year and I never have issues with it. The only kinds of throws I felt like could be sped up have been the ones from the outfield. The defensive urgency (or the time to have a lack of it in the case of a slow runner), was something the dev team really focused on this year and, from my point of view they really hit the mark. Sorry that your experience isn't the same.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread
Are you using default base running controls? If so, you need to target the players you want to control. You push the left stick in the direction of the base and then push the button of the base you want to advance to. For example, the vid you embedded would have you using the O and triangle buttons to control the runner at first and then you would push the analog to the third baseman and use square and x. Sorry if confusing. If you are using classic, I believe you use the Dpad.
Concerns:
If the runner from 1st is half way or even two thirds way between 1st and 2nd, which direction would you push the left (L) stick to select that particular runner?
I just use whatever default setting in the game. I'll give it a test run. Initially, I was actually trying to do what you suggested forever but nothing happens.
With the runner on 2nd, I would push left stick up and hit L2 (apparently you're not suppose to hold L2, just a simple tap L2 works to steal). But then pressing the controller icon buttons didn't work. The icon buttons wouldn't show up on screen in the on screen display (OSD). So I resorted to using R1 and L1, but then all runners would run simultaneously.
I tried it again, but there seems to be a delay before the icon would show up on the small little base path indicator when you push on the left stick.Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 04-02-2016, 03:26 PM.Comment

Yeah I was just going to say the same thing. I have heard people say this ever year and I have never had a issue with it at all. Its like the frame rate issue. It has been said that the game runs at 60 FPS from like 09, and yet ever year I see people saying they have frame rate issues. Yet it is said it is at 60 FPS, and I have not once had frame rate issues in gameplay. I have only had frame rate issue in cutscenes in any MLB the show game. .Comment

There's enough people who upvoted it to make it the third highest item on the bug tracker, so it's not an isolated thing. Really just waiting to see if the devs will chime in at this point.Last edited by bcruise; 04-02-2016, 03:30 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Q&A Thread
Funny that you mention the frame rate because I do have that issue....lol. Wrigley when the shadows roll in and the current CotW in Toronto are the worst right now for me. And I'm talking during gameplay, while pitches are being made. Even then, it's still playable, and I am still loving this game despite it.

I am not saying that it is a isolated thing just that I think less people have issues with it than the amount of people that do have issues with it. You never see reviews saying the frame rate sucks or any thing like that for the show yet you always see some people saying they have frame rate issues and when games have a lot of frame rate issues you see reviews talk about it. Like I remember madden back last gen for like 08 on ps3 or something only ran at 30 compared to the 60 of Xbox360 as ps3 had a lot of issue with multiplatform games for the first 2 years or so and a lot of reviews talked about that and about how the game was not smooth and such.Comment

You want a runner on 2nd to advance on a hit to the of like to tag up? If so, you would move the left stick up indicating 2nd base and then push the square button to advance him to 3rd. I don't know about any delay. It always works for me. If you are definitely doing it right, maybe there is something wrong with your analog stick or something? I really don't know. Let me know if I didn't explain it well enough. I am sure there are youtube vids that go step by step.Last edited by Beatles; 04-02-2016, 03:51 PM.Comment
