I'm cool with injuries because they happen so often in baseball. It's a game that just breaks your body down because it's a grind. Also the injuries force your GM decisions. I think Danny Santana comes back in a few days so I'll give him about a week in AAA before I bring him back up to take over.

The issue with Park is he's not young. I'm going to platoon him and Arcia so Park will get LHP. It just sucks when he leads the MLB in average HR distance and I can't have him be a part of my offense.

I "envy" you getting injuries at 6. I have mine at 8 and sometimes get them in bunches (and 2 out-for-the-year) ones, but then crickets.

In my Marlins franchise, I hardly get injuries. I might have to go to 10. It almost (almost) makes me want to sim some just to see more injuries, but that's a bridge I don't want to cross.

I just called up Alex Bregman and am going to be giving him rep's at 3rd Base going to see how he does. But he is very upset. His team role is None yet he is angry that he is platooning? wtf?

Are any of them playing poorly? I have noticed some attributes moving down on poor playing players.

                Phillies beat the Marlins 7-2

For one night, tonight, the Phillies fans were taken back to the old days. On this one night, May 16, 2016, they were able to put it all together, and it's been in the making for a while.

Tonight, the Phillies gave Vincent Velasquez his second start of the season, and for the second time he absolutely delivered. Velasquez went 6.1 innings, 1 earned run, 3 hits, and 13 strikeouts. It was a gem of a game. The one blemish on his night was the fact that he walked 4 guys, but Velasquez refused to let them come around to score. His one earned run came after he was taken out, when Marcell Ozuna (who got one of the 3 hits off Velasquez) scored on a base hit.

But on a night where Vincent Velasquez delivered on the mound, he ended up becoming the 2nd biggest story of the night. Ryan Howard was the big story. For this one night, Ryan Howard looked like the old Ryan Howard. And if you don't believe me, look at his stat line: 3-4, 1 double, 2 HRs, 3 runs and 4 RBIs. He was masterful at the plate tonight, and Phillies fans couldn't be more excited about it.

These guys have a look of a team that is on the verge of turning it around. They have won 3 series in a row, winning two out of three games against Cincinatti, sweeping the Braves, and winning 3 out of 4 against the Cardinals.

This series with the Marlins is split 1-1, if they win tomorrow, we're looking at 4 series wins in a row. The last time that happened was 2012, when this team won 81 games on the year. Aaron Nola will be on the mound in the pivotal game. If these guys play the way they did tonight, it will be deja vu all over again in more ways than one.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

The Blue Jays have won another series. This time an inter-league match in Atlanta to face the Braves. The Braves have surprised this year and actually have a shot at the NL wild card.

The Jays come in hot. They were tied with the Red Sox for first in the AL East, but after the 2-1 win they sit 1.5 games ahead of Boston with a key end of September series against Boston coming next. Anyhow, first let's look at this series.

Game 1 saw the Braves take a 6-5 win. The Jays were up 5-3 after 6. The Braves rallied in the 8th against Brett Cecil and Jesse Chavez where Aybar cranked a 3 run shot to give the Braves a 6-5 lead which they would hold.

Next game was a pitchers duel. Sanchez and Teheran both went 8 innings allowing 1 run each. Tulo hit a solo shot and Freeman scored Inciarte on a RBI double. This game went to 10 innings where the Jays pushed ahead. Zack Walters (playing at 3rd for the injured Donaldson) cranked a solo shot off of Alex Torres. Storen would come in to save it in the bottom of 10. Series tied 1-1.

Game 3 saw a close match as well until the 6th. Stroman went up against Foltynewicz who has been very good this year. The Jays won this game 6-3. The Braves took a 2-0 lead after a Markakias 2 run shot. That would be all Stroman would give to Atlanta and he relied on his offence breaking out in the series to get him the win. Folty was good until the 6th when the Jays rallied for 3 runs. They came off a double by Travis, sac bunt by Stroman in which he was safe on a throwing error, RBI double by Michael Bourn, Sac fly by Tulo and RBI double by Russell Martin. The game was close until a rookie Braves reliever allowed a solo HR by Encarnacion (39 on the year) and 2-run HR by Tulo (19 on the year). The Braves would get one back in the 9th with a Bonifacio homer, but Storen would once again shut down the rally in the 9th.

The Jays will have an important series against Boston. They are still without Donaldson for a week or so, but hopefully the hot play of Zack Walters will continue.

                  Stay Tuned!

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

With the 15th selection in the 2016 MLB Amateur Draft, the Minnesota Twins select...

The current draft system in The Show leaves you almost completely in the dark after the "blue chip" guys are gone. At pick #15 the blue chips are always gone. All of the players I had scouted weren't good enough to take in round 1. I was looking for a power bat as my farm system already has a good supply of future MLB starters, but I just couldn't justify not taking a stab at a projected 80 pitcher. I picked the highest rated player in the draft and he's only 18 years old. There was another 18 year old SP prospect, LHP Oliver Gaskins, who I thought about taking. I went with Connors because of his size and his projected 80 vs Gaskins' 75. Gaskins had a 4th pitch which made the decision really tough. Gaskins ended up going Round 3 #1 to Philadelphia and it was clear I picked the right player.

                    Here's my 2nd round pick...

Here's another guy I didn't have scouted. Catcher is a position that's really weak in my system and I feel as though I picked the perfect player. He's got great pop and could provide some power. Ceiling is low with 78 POT but his bat will make up for everything. Probably won't ever hit for average, but if he gives me 20-25 HR I'll be ecstatic. He's an average defender and has no speed. He's a guy I can plug in the 6-8 spot in the lineup and hope he runs into a pitch here and there.

None of my Rd 3-7 picks were impressive. A couple might fill a role with the big league club at some point in their career, but none of them seem to be destined for an every day role. The lefty RP I took in Round 5 might have the best bet to carve out a role in the pen and make the 25 man roster in a couple years. The 1B in the 3rd rd is already 22 and his OVR is too low along with his ratings. The 2B in the 4th might have a shot one day...but damn I took too many 22 year old guys.

Overall I'd say drafting a SP who is 18 and already 75 OVR at #15 puts my draft in the top 5. Here's my top 5 ranked draft classes:

                    #1 - Philadelphia Phillies
They took a future ace SP #1 overall and a middle of the order 1B in Rd 2. They added another future MLB 2-4 starter in the 7th rd and had an 80+ POT OF in Rd 4.

                    #2 - Milwaukee Brewers
They know they are a ways off from contending and took a great SS prospect who is a few years away at #5. They then added depth to their pitching system. In round 2 they took a big RHP from Cuba who won't take long to join the club and they had the steal of the draft in round 5 with Brian Ramirez (72 OVR 87 POT). Ramirez is not an ideal size (5'11") but he's got a nice 4-pitch repertoire and great control. He has nasty break too. He might be a late call up next year.

                    #3 - Minnesota Twins
See above for why they are #3

                    #4 - Colorado Rockies
They took the best position player in the draft, Ryan Landgraf, at #6. They missed on their other picks for the most part, but Landgraf has the potential to be an MVP caliber player. The picks you can't see on the spread sheet are all in the 74-77 POT range, so some MLB talent might be there.

                    #5 - Pittsburgh Pirates
Having pick #22 you wouldn't expect them to be on this list, but they really had a solid draft with their 6 picks. The potentials they hit on were 88-88-84-81-76-75. They got some bull pen help and strengthened their positional depth. The headliner is their 1st round pick, Jerold White. He's a switch hitting 2B who's a 66 OVR. He's a great fielder but lacks the MLB bat at this point. If his bat progresses he'd be a great player for their organization.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Wow, Connors is a wonderful pick. Could he possibly contend for a rotation spot right out of Spring Training in your next season? Kind of the pitching version of Bryce Harper (big league starter at 19).

Dawson is a nice grab also. Power hitting catcher that should be at least adequate defensively. Can't argue with that, and if he does hit well, that could cause his projections to elevate (higher pot). How do you plan to develop him? Round out his contact and make him a decent contact guy with some power or specialize in power and make him a slugger that might be somewhat streaky?

Those are a couple of great picks!

That pitcher would be in the minors for two seasons on my Dodgers staff, but the Catcher would be a backup on the parent club right away.

I have almost caught up with the real season as the Atlanta Braves; and my season is almost identical to the real thing. Im sitting at 9-23 and 14 1/2 games out. Very inconsistant and not a lot of experienced depth. My pitching has been very spotty and wildly inconsistant. Once i get past Julio Teheran i dont know what to expect from my other pitchers. Freddie Freeman has been a bright spot and while he is only hitting .255 he does have 8 HR's and 17 RBI's. Nick Sarkakis has been my best player and has the best batting average on the team at .283...that should probably tell you all you need to know lol. I'm just wondering. ..can i fire Fredi Gonzalez or does the game not allow you to do that? We did just win our first series of the year tho by taking 2 out of 3 from the Diamondbacks....2 game winning streak...

I was going to begin my Braves franchise by the weekend now that OSFM v3 is out. Quick question though, are you able to fire a manager during the season? I'd hate to have to stare at Fredi ALL SEASON LONG!

                              Yes you can.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
