Sano is ridiculous. That's the only word for him. It's crazy how fast he gets better from an already strong ratings profile. And against LHP? Forget it.

I'm surprised "The Phenom" didn't start the All-Star Game for the AL. Did he hit a bit of a slump? Last time I saw his stats, he was doing crazy good. Maybe everyone is jealous of this 19-year-old who might already be a top 5 pitcher in the game.

I'm actually in the next season. I've be nonstop playing this game. He's now 20 and I think 12-3 on the season. He's at a 89 OVR I think at 20. However, he's pretty much at his ceiling so I don't think he'll get any better ratings wise. I'm not sure how it'll play out. Will it be based purely on his stats? Will he bump up POT?

I doubt I ever get another rookie this good this fast so I'm enjoying his time.

Does he have A potential? If not, then he might be for the moment. 89 is the top of B, so he's like a B++, but if that's his post-morale rating and he has positive morale, then he might NOT be capped as morale applies on top of the base rating.

Potential can go up due to performance though it's random. Gallo raised himself to 99 Potential in my other franchise (in the first year!) while Sano was on the hunt of a Triple Crown but remains capped at 89/B so far.

Probably works similar to last year where after playing well for a while, he might gain more potential (no message, but watch for a green up arrow next to his POT).

Right now William Connors appears to be at his ceiling (88 OVR 88 POT. He's a 90 because he's happy outside of his contract. Well Mr. Connors you're screwed because I still have 4.5 years of team control left.

Im at the All-Star Break. The Braves are 35-54. I only have one all-star and that Freddie Freeman. He is hitting .308 with 22 hrs and 54 rbi's. The Cubs are currently the best in baseball at 59-30. The Phillies are the worse at 30-59. Surprisingly the Royals are the 2nd worst team in baseball at 31-57.

              <table><td bgcolor=#004684>Off Season & Spring Training - 2019</td></table>

To start off the off season Ned Yost retired and we replaced him with Danny Montag. We fired Dale Sveum as hitting coach and hired Craig Counsell. We re-signed Dillon Gee and Joakim Soria. Gee got 6M over 3 years. Soria got 2 years for 8.5M. Jarrod Dyson and Jordan Lyles declined player options. We re-signed both of them as well. Dyson got 2 years 6M. And Lyles got 2 years 12M. We made 2 moves in FA. Picked up JP Howell to repalce Hudson. Got him for 2 years and 6M. He 3-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 42 IP last eyar. We also picked up Adam Lind for 2 years and 8M. He hit .278/.362/.495 with 25 HR last year.

              Some notable deals
              Spoiler

Going into spring training we didnt have to many questions on the pitching side. The BP was completely decided. We needed to decide who the 5 starters would be. Duffy and Ventura were locks. Jordan Lyles and Mike Minor were more than likely gonna be there. And then the 5th spot was completely up for grabs. Dillon Gee, Ian Kennedy and Kyle Zimmer were the main competition for it. With Christian Binford, Miguel Almonte and Nolan Watson getting a chance to show us what they got.

Christian Binford was very good. 2.25 ERA, 1.35 WHIP in 20 IP. Miguel Almonte wasnt bad himself. 3.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP in 21 IP. But they got a bit unlucky. Minor, Kennedy and Melden all did good as well. So with no need to trade/DFA any of hose guys. And with Binford/Almonte having options. They get sent down. Kyle Zimmer continues to disappoint. 5.21 ERA in 19 IP. He goes down as well. It may be time to start looking at trades for him. Maybe a change of scenery would do him well. Nolan Watson struggled. Kind of expected him to. 6.06 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 16.1 IP. He will start the season in AA. And will be moved to AAA in a month or so if everything goes well.

So our starting 5 will be Duffy (3.79 ERA) Yordano Centura (3.43 ERA), Mike Minor (1.35 ERA), Ian Kennedy (1.42 ERA) and Jordan Lyles (3.50 ERA). Medlen and Gee will go to the pen. Medlen had a 2.12 ERA. But pretty high WHIP at 1.76. Gee had a 3.50 ERA.

As for position players there were a few more questions. Needed to figure out who would play 2nd base. Would it be Christian Colon or Whit Merrifield. Or Would Alcides Escobar and Raul Mondesi play well enough to both be starting. Adam Lind is really only serviceable against righties. So needed to see who would play 1st against lefties. And lastly who would play RF and be the 4th OF. Oh and figure out where to put Yates after all that was decided.

Christian Colon hit .254/.366/.339 in 59 at bats. He will start at 2B against lefties with Yates starting there against righties. Whit Merrifield hit .250/.333/.350 in 40 at bats. He will start at 1B against lefties. Jarrod Dyson hit .257/.350/.429. He will start in RF against righties with Yates starting there against lefties. Last spot on the team goes to Balbino Fuenmayor. First 3 games. And then completely **** the bed. 4 HR in his first 8 at bats. And didnt hit another one. But he provides power off the bench and The only other guy that played very well was Bubba Starling and id rather him get every day at bats in AAA.

So going into the season our team looks like this

Just finished a 6 game road trip through Detroit and Chicago. Swept the Tigers and took 2 of 3 from the Cubs. The Phillies now sit at 33-17 on the season. Still in 1st place in the NL East with a 3.5 game lead over the Nationals who happen to be in town for a 3 game set to close out May and start June.

Adam Morgan has pitched well in the 2 starts he has had since being called up to replace the injured Jeremy Hellickson. In 15 innings pitched he is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA. Jeremy Hellickson has been activated from the disabled list but I am not sending Morgan back to Triple-A. Instead, Charlie Morton has been designated for assignment. Morton wasn't terrible, but everyone else is pitching better. In 10 starts, Morton was 4-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 60 innings pitched. Only 4 walks allowed and 53 strikeouts. I may attempt to trade him for some minor league depth. The Blue Jays and Rockies are showing interest.

Freddy Galvis has been red hot in the last few weeks. On the season he is hitting .251 with 12 home runs and 28 RBI. Both team highs shockingly. The Phillies as a team have hit 64 home runs which ties them with the Rangers for 2nd place in MLB.

The Phillies begin a 10 game homestand with 3 against the Nationals, 4 against the Brewers and 3 against the Cubs.
The Phillies 10 game homestand is off to a very good start. We took 2 of 3 from the Nationals and 3 of 4 from the Brewers. The offense has really picked it up recently. The Phillies now sit at 38-19 on the season and have a 6 game lead in the division on June 6th. Homestand continues with 3 games against the Cubs.

Speaking of the Brewers, Ryan Braun absolutely killed me in 3 of the 4 games in the series hitting .466 with 4 home runs, 8 RBI and 5 runs scored. Held him hitless in the final game.

In other news, the Phillies and Orioles matched up on a minor trade with the Phillies sending recently DFA'd Charlie Morton to the Orioles for left handed pitcher T.J. McFarland. The Phillies could use some additional pitching depth from the left side and Morton was expendable with all the depth on the farm.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Cardinals have now lost 3 games in a row and have had their lead cut down to just 3 games over the Cubs. The Cardinals are really struggling to hit right now and are especially susceptible to left handed pitching. The Cardinals continue to look over the trade market, but there really isn't anything out there that would give enough in return for the asking price to make a move.

Right now the Cardinals are mulling over the idea of trading for Kendrys Morales of the Kansas City Royals as he just became available. Morales would add a hot bat (hitting .300 on the year) in the lineup, his defense is a concern. As is the asking price.

The Cardinals, as well as the rest of the league, have about a week left until the trade deadline. Will the Cardinals make a move, only time will tell.

End on season 2 in my Yankees franchise.

We managed to scrap into the playoffs with a wild card berth before being taken out by the Angels in 4 in the ALDS.

Awards winners for the club were Aaron Judge won rookie of the year with 21 home runs. Brian McCann took home a golden Glove also Tanaka led the league in WHIP (1.01).

2 Yankees called in a day on their careers in the off season. A Rod and CC Decided age had caught up with them. A Rod finished with 727 home runs (3rd all time) and 3346 hits (9th all time) so obviously was inducted into the hall of fame. CC finished with 235 wins.

                    Depth charts before spring training

Sp Masahiro Tanaka-team ace coming off a 11-4 season with a 2.66 era
Sp Francisco Liriano-signed a 3 year 28.8million dollar contract to try to help a struggling starting rotation
Sp Michael Pineda-signed a new 5 year 53.3 million dollar contract in the off season
Sp Luis Severino-up and down season in 2017 but has the potential to be a future ace of the Yankees
Sp Nathan Eovaldi-will be looking to improve this season with a number of pitchers biting at his heels including the very talented Domingo German

Rp Andrew Miller- Made a good case to be the closer last season finishing with 84 strike outs over 77.2 innings to go along with a 1.39ERA and 1.02WHIP.
                    Rp Zach Duke
                    Rp Chasen Shreve
                    Rp Neal Coots
                    Rp Ivan Nova
                    Rp Johnny Barbato

Cp Dellin Betances- Good job last season with 51/56 saves ERA of 2.51. Will most likely move on after he is no longer eligible for arbitration.

C Brian McCann- On the downward spiral. Injury kept him to 28 games in 2016. 18 homeruns at an average of .222 isn't a good rebound but still playing Gold Glove defense behing the plate.
C Gary Sanchez- Did well filling in for McCann at times last season. Finishing with 10 homeruns at .248. While showing great defense behind the plate. Will look to take more playing time away from McCann this season

1B Greg Bird- Split time at first last season hitting 8 home runs at .310 while driving in 48. Will look to make the spot his own in 2018.
1B Rob Refsnyder- Solid platoon at 1B. Hit 12 home runs at .258 and driving in 50 runs.

2B starlin Castro- 16 home runs at .266 and driving in 72 last season. Playing good defense but will be looking over his shoulder as a rookie is looking for playing time.
2B- Frank Navarro- Rookie 21yo rated 84 already. My first round draft pick from 2016 played well after a late season call up.

3B Chase Headly- Will likely be his last year in New York. Good season last year hitting 18 home runs qt .264 and driving in 70 runs. No one to really compete with this season so the spot is his.

SS Didi Gregorius- A season to forget for Didi. Hit 8 home runs at .204 with just 33 drove in in an injury effected season. Finished with a -0.72 WAR.
SS Brian Ito- Rookie sensation out of Japan. The 19 year old 2017 first round draft pick has the stats to go directly to the majors this season.

LF Brett Gardner- Solid season for Gardner in the number 2 spot. Will look to continue this season
LF Ben Gamel- Will fill in at left field if needed but will need to bide his time behind Gardner

CF Jacoby Ellsbury- Injury limited him to just 94 games in 2017 but still managed to hit .290 with 37 stolen bases at the top of the order.

RF Aaron Judge- Power numbers were there hitting 21 home runs last season. Will hopefully bring the average up from .238 after a full season in the majors

DH Jose Bautista- Brought in on a very team friendly 1 year 600K deal. Just looking for a bit of power out of the DH spot in most likely his only season in New York

2016 Yankees: using a play one, sim 5 method, the Yanks are 13-11, one game back of the Orioles and one game ahead of Boston. We're tied with Texas and LA for the WC spots. McCann just went down for 2 months so Sanchez/Romine will handle catching duties.

                        2016 Phillies: 3-2 record

So far so good for the Phillies as they took 2 of 3 from the Reds and are split 1-1 with the Mets going into Sunday's action. Biggest surprise has been Darin Ruf who is batting over .400 and has 3 HR's and 4 RBI. Cameron Rupp has still not picked up a hit.

Pitching wise the team has a rotation set up like this:

                        Aaron Nola
                        Vince Velasquez
                        Charlie Morton
                        Jeremy Hellickson
                        Jared Eickhoff

Nola took a ND his first start but got roughed up by the Reds on the long ball giving up 5 runs in 5+ innings but Ruf hit his second homer of the game and Galvis hit one also in the 8th to give the Phils the 6-5 win and let him off the hook. Velasquez was pretty good giving up only 2 runs over 6 and K'd 10 but took the loss as Finnegan shut us (If Franco and Ruf don't perform then we just can't win the game realistically). Morton was shelled for 5 runs over 5 but got the win thanks to a Ryan Howard pinch hit homer in the 6th (7-5 final). Hellickson was the best so far giving up 2 and going 6.1 to get the W over the Mets. Eickhoff was going great but then gave up 2 in the 6th to turn a 2-1 lead into a 3-2 deficit and an L

Next game up is the last game of the 6 game road trip to start the year with Nola against Wheeler and then it's off to Citizens Bank for the home opener and the 4 game series to start it against the Padres

Spring Training has ended for the Yankees with no real suprises.

The team with be lining up like this.

                          CF Ellsbury
                          LF Gardner
                          RF Judge
                          C McCann
                          DH Bautista
                          1B Bird
                          3B Headley
                          SS Navarro
                          2B Castro

Only suprises out of spring training are Navarro beating out Didi for the SS spot. The young man from Japan Ito was expected to push had for that spot but probably need for time in triple A before getting the everday spot. With Navarro and Castro having good numbers in spring training both had to be starting.

My young closer, whos name i cant remember right now, manged to knock Coots out of the bullpen. Will keep an eye on him over the next season or 2 and if he performs well it will make it an easy decision to let Betances walk in free agency.

                            <table><td bgcolor=#004684>End of April - 2019</td></table>

1 month down and we sit atop the AL central at 13-7 with a 2 game lead over the Twins. Got off to a 5-0 start with a sweep of Tampa Bay winning the 1st 2 games against Detroit. 8-7 since then though. Took 2 of 3 from Baltimore. Lost 2 of 3 to Atlanta and took 2 of 3 from Houston and Minnesota. Split the first 2 games of a 3 games series against Cleveland to end the month. The 13-7 is tied for the best winning percentage in the majors with the Nationals and Cardinals. Mariners and Yankees are both 13-8 with the Dodgers at 14-8. Red Sox have the worst record at 6-16.

Offense has been very strong so far. Lead the majors in AVG at .293 and OBP at .366. And 3rd in slugging at .455. Leading the charge is Salvador Perez. Moving him to 3rd is the best decision i have ever made. After the great end to last year he has been just has hot to start this year. Hitting .330/.381/.568 with 6 HR and 20 RBI. Alex Gordon has been one of the more surprising players so far. Only has a .262 AVG. But leads the majors in walks with 19 and has an OBP of .435. His best AB per HR before this year was 26.57 in 2011. So far this year that number is 13 with 5 HR in 65 at bats. Lorenzo Cain doesnt have the power numbers of Perez and Gordon. But he is still hitting just as good. .333/.404/.526 with 2 HR, 6 SB and leads the team in WAR with 1.32. Jackson Yates, Kendrys Morales and Adam Lind are also hitting over .300. Dyson, Moose and Colon are hitting over .267. Mondesi and Merrifield are realyl the only guys that have struggled. Mondesi is hitting .222/.269/.270. And Merrifield is hitting .175/.240/.217. Alcides Escobar has taken some starts from Mondesi and played really well. .350/.381/.500 in20 at bats. If it continues Mondesi could be going back down to AAA for a bit to work things out. We have only gotten Balbino Fuenmayor 1 start so far but he went 2 for 4 so we could start putting him in at 1st more when Lind is out against lefties.

As for the pitching. Its uhhh. Been interesting. We have the highest ERA in the majors at 4.70. Danny Duffy and Mike Minor have been good. Duffy is 2-0 with a 3.04 ERA in 26.2 IP. Minor is 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA in 26 IP. On the other hand Ventura, Kennedy and Lyles have not been so good. Kennedy is 1-1 with a 7.25 ERA in 22.1 IP. Ventura is 0-3 with an 8.50 ERA in 18 IP. And Jordan Lyles is 1-2 with a 9.68 ERA in 17.2 IP. Ic old replace one with Dillon Gee. But in 13.2 IP out of the pen he has a 5.93 ERA in 13.2 IP. And has the highest WHIP on the team at 2.20. Lyles at least looked good in his last start going 8 innings allowing just 2 runs. The pen outside of Gee has been pretty good. Wade Davis has the highest ERA at 3.00. He has struggled a bit. Have to assume he will get back to normal soon though. Kelvin Herrera has been the best so far. 1.04 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. Only 8.2 IP. Hochevar has a 2.08 ERA in 8.2IP. Soria and JP Howell both have a 2.45 ERA in 7.1 and 11 IP. And then Kris Medlen has a 1.50 ERA in 12 IP. He is gonna take Kenendy's next start.

In AAA, Kyle Zimmer got off to a rough start. After 2 starts he had a 5.58 ERA. But in his 2 starts since he has went 15 innings with just 2 ER. we could really use him right now but he has to show he can continue to do well for more than 2 starts. Brooks Pounders has been the best starter in AAA so far. 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA in 27 IP. He would probably be the call up if the starters dont get it together this next turn through he rotation. Or unless Zimmer goes out and throws a no hitter before then. Cheslor Cuthbert is hitting .338/.384/.515 with 3 HR in 68 at bats. Could see some time at 1st if Whit continues to play bad and Balbino doesnt do anything worth keeping him up.

In AA, Ashe Russell has been great through 4 starts. 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 28IP. Has had issues with walks in the past but so far this year just has 6 walks. Nolan Watson has struggled a bit but has been okay overall. 1-2 with a 4.29 ERA in 21 IP. Was better in his last start. 5 innings with 1 ER. Had planned tp put him in AAA after a month or so but for now he will stay down in AA to work on things. Brad Burnette our 7th round pick last year has been amazing so far. 2-0 with a 0.48 ERA in 1.39 IP. Foster Griffin has a 0.87 ERA in 10.1 innings out of the pen. Marten Gasparini is hitting .365/.476/.577 with 3 HR in 52 at bats. Chase Vallot is hitting .286/.375/.482 with 3 HR in 56 AB and Dino Torres our 1st round pick from last year is hitting .282/.338/.352 in 64 at bats. Only has 1 HR and thats his best tool so hopefully May goes a bit better for him there.

Hey guys so I need a bit of advice I called up Chris Devenski in my Astros franchise a few in-game weeks ago and he has since been a starter since trading Doug Fister away. Anyways his first start since being named the permanent starter was very bad but the next 2 have been great allowing 3 runs or less in both in about 5 innings in each.

Anyways I have Francis Martes who is a higher overall, a higher potential and is scorching hot in AAA with a 2.05 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Long story short I dont know what to do, all of my other starters are playing very well as are my relievers so its either Devenski who is playing very well right now or Francis Martes who is playing very well in AAA and in the end will be a better player.

Thanks Ill have a update on my franchise either later today or tomorrow. Goal is to catchup to the real Astros by the all-star break.

I say you keep Martes in AAA until you have a spot open due to injury or performance. Remember that the OVR isn't the end all be all.
