A little late, but a couple weeks ago I started a Mariners franchise using the updated postseason OSFM rosters. I'm at midseason 1, just passed the trade deadline, and I'm a game or two over .500.
I've made the following trades:
Motter for Schwarber and Underwood
Cano and Underwood for Cain
Ruiz for Darwin Barney
Felix Hernandez and Haniger for Hoskins and Eickoff
Iwakuma and Kiefhelder for Tanner Roark
Nicasio and Niewehuis for Brandon Maurer
My lineups look like this:
2B Gordon
SS Segura
CF Cain
DH Cruz
3B Seager
1B Healy
LF Hoskins
RF Gamel
C Zunino/Schwarber
subs:
Heredia
Valencia on the corners
Barney middle infield
Schwarber C/OF
Pitching rotation:
Paxton
Leake
Roark
Eickoff
Ramirez
also had tons of pitching injuries (just like the real life M's, at one point I had 4 of my starters injured!) and have used Miranda, Graveman, and Martin as well.
I mostly made trades to get younger, but I just couldn't let go of Nelson Cruz. His trade value didn't seem too high to warrant trading him either. The bummer is, his ratings are dropping like crazy and he's been terrible all year, batting somewhere around .220 and like 5th on the team in homers with only 15 or something.
Cano I had to get rid of, he's horrible against lefties. Was able to get the very well rounded Lorenzo Cain, and he's leading the league in batting average, among the leaders in HR, and 2nd in steals only to Dee Gordon.
I don't play all my games, but I do quick manage. I jump in at key moments or when I feel like it, but 95% of the time I'm quick managing which I think is a nice mix of sim and play.
