Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

A little late, but a couple weeks ago I started a Mariners franchise using the updated postseason OSFM rosters. I'm at midseason 1, just passed the trade deadline, and I'm a game or two over .500.

    I've made the following trades:
    Motter for Schwarber and Underwood
    Cano and Underwood for Cain
    Ruiz for Darwin Barney
Felix Hernandez and Haniger for Hoskins and Eickoff
Iwakuma and Kiefhelder for Tanner Roark
Nicasio and Niewehuis for Brandon Maurer

    My lineups look like this:
    2B Gordon
    SS Segura
    CF Cain
    DH Cruz
    3B Seager
    1B Healy
    LF Hoskins
    RF Gamel
    C Zunino/Schwarber

    subs:
    Heredia
    Valencia on the corners
    Barney middle infield
    Schwarber C/OF

    Pitching rotation:
    Paxton
    Leake
    Roark
    Eickoff
    Ramirez

also had tons of pitching injuries (just like the real life M's, at one point I had 4 of my starters injured!) and have used Miranda, Graveman, and Martin as well.

I mostly made trades to get younger, but I just couldn't let go of Nelson Cruz. His trade value didn't seem too high to warrant trading him either. The bummer is, his ratings are dropping like crazy and he's been terrible all year, batting somewhere around .220 and like 5th on the team in homers with only 15 or something.

Cano I had to get rid of, he's horrible against lefties. Was able to get the very well rounded Lorenzo Cain, and he's leading the league in batting average, among the leaders in HR, and 2nd in steals only to Dee Gordon.

I don't play all my games, but I do quick manage. I jump in at key moments or when I feel like it, but 95% of the time I'm quick managing which I think is a nice mix of sim and play.

Well the Marlins aren't looking to rebuild as they just signed Madison Bumgarner to a 5 year $123M deal.

Yankees signed Aaron Judge to a 7 year $133M contract.

We re-signed Tyler Lyons to a 2 year deal skipping over his arbitration years.

Tigers signed Sean Doolittle to a 3 year $30.6M contract.

We signed Marwin Gonzalez to a 2 year $10M contract. Gonzalez will provide depth at the major league level.

We also have an offer out to Zach Britton to see about improving our bullpen. He wants to be the closer, but we have Rosenthal so we offered him to be in the bullpen. See what happens.

          We got our man.

We signed Zach Britton to a one year $9M deal. Only wanted to do one year to see how this works. If it doesn't go well, then both us and he are not stuck together trying to find a trade partner. If it does work then we can look to extend the contract after this season.

The Marlins continue to make a push to get better as they signed Cody Allen.

The Royals have made a splash as they just signed Yoenis Cespedes to a 3 year $38.4M deal.

We are past the deadline for arbitration offers, so a new crop of free agents just hit the market.

And we addressed our need at catcher, as we signed Stephen Vogt to a 1 year $2M contract. He wasn't offered arbitration by the Marlins, so he became a free agent and we took a shot.

J.T. Realmuto is out there as well, but his asking price got more than we wanted to entertain. With Vogt, we can platoon him with Carson Kelly and hope that Kelly is able to progress. Wanted to do this last year with Kelly and Yadier Molina, but Yadi decided to retire.

Free agent market heating up now.

The Nationals replace departing Bryce Harper by signing Jay Bruce.

                The Reds snag J.T. Realmuto

We are taking a few days off to evaluate our roster and check out the market. No offers from us on the table.

Just for the sake of curiosity would you mind seeing where Harper ends up? In my franchise on 16 he ended up with Texas with a 7 year $234 million i think.

Bryce Harper just signed with the Phillies for 8 years $186.66M deal.

Red Sox signed Jhoulys Chacin to a 2 year $9M deal

I saw the Indians offer Altuve 11/341 but they withdrew and he eventually signed with KC for like 6/144.
