Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

What type of a package would it take to get Ryan Goins? Obviously not that significant as I'm a Jays fan. Gonna do a Twins franchise, really like some of their pieces and none of the NL teams are really speaking to me with Pollack out for the year as the D'Backs were one of the only ones I liked.

I want to improve team defense because Minny is really lacking. With mediocre pitching I'd like to build the pen, but I'll be back asking about that. Goins would serve as essentially an offseason trade. I'd also consider Hechavarria, Ahmed, Galvis, Mercer or Kike Hernandez. But I think they'd be too expensive.

I'd assume, as a Jays fan, that the Jays would at least want a utility guy to cover for Goins in addition to a prospect. So I'd like to include Eduardo Nunez as part of the package.

How hard is it to trade for RP in general ?

Thanks for doing my research for me! Good guys to target for the twins.

Jays wouldn't need anything back, Darwin Barney is the same guy basically. As a Jays fan I've been praying for Goins for Trevor May, but don't rip yourself off. Maybe Tyler Duffey?

Tyler Duffey seems doable. And this way I guess I can flip Nunez for a similar pitcher. Thanks.

I guess that brings me to my next question...what level reliever could I get for Nunez? Probably not much, and probably a little to inconsequential.

Cardinals for Trevor Lyons. Think that makes a lot of sense for you. They hate him for some reason but I think he's great. He's probably an upgrade on Aledmys Diaz.

Additionally what would a package for Gregorious or Hechavarria look like? That'd be a trade I'd need to make at the deadline...so odds are Hechavarria is the more realistic target considering the Marlins will be out of it.

If the Nats are out of it what would it take for Wilson Ramos? Would Dwight Smith Jr. (67 B) + Loup (75 C) + Goins (69 C) get it done or is it too much/too little?

I think it would take more, and not in a sense of adding more to your proposed deal. In your scenario, the Nats have no need for Loup or Goins. Just doesn't add up. I understand the want for getting rid of them, but unless either one of them is playing out of their mind, they're not worth much (especially to a team that isn't in the hunt).

Well I could see Loup having utility for the Nats. He's an elite LOOGY IMO (I try to be objective pls don't kill me). but an elite LOOGY is bordering on an oxymoron lol. He'd be a nice 2nd/third piece. How many years of control does Alford have?

Wait. You're the Blue Jays. Why on earth are you trading for a catcher?

Goins is there because Nats wanted 2b on their trade block. Loup is a nice option out of the pen and Smith Jr is a close to MLB ready prospect.

Lol I should clarify. I just lost Saunders for 2 months who has been my starting LF and I am 2.5 games back of the wild card. I would be using Josh Hamilton in LF with Almonte as the 4th OF. Colabello and Ramos would split time at 1B or when Colabello played LF if Hamilton continues to struggle. Ramos would also backup Martin. This is just a potential acquisition I was considering for next months deadline if I am still in contention lol was also looking at Lucroy. Although, if I keep losing I may have to look for deals for my good players hahah

AC, that's not too far out. I could see the value for a guy with that ability, even though elite LOOGY does sound like an oxymoron lol. He's 28, so there's still some room to grow there I guess. Also just realized that Ramos is a free agent after the end of the year. That changes things a bit.

I could understand Ramos to an extent because he can walk at the end of 2016, but wanting a starting caliber player to fill the need you have really just seems like an unnecessary luxury at this point. Lucroy same thing I just said x 10. There have to be cheaper alternatives to fill the very limited role you described.

The Nats don't really need a 2B, despite what their block says. They'd call Turner up and move Espinosa to 2B if Murphy was hurt. Still don't see the need for Goins.

Yea you are right about that. I guess I am just feeling like going all in for this last shot with my monster lineup :/. Plus Ramos would play everyday at either 1B or C. Oh well..... Can you help me find a worthy backup catcher?? Preferably who can also play another position like 1B?

God I asked how many years of control Alford had? Lol, I meant Ramos, and then was going to suggest Alford but if he's gonna walk I'd suggest Tellez or something.

BlueJays09 if you want a righty bat, Tyler White. A righty 1B/C, Andrew Susac. A backup defensive C, Roberto Perez.

Lol Ramos is a FA after this season and Nats look to be out of it. I am more looking for a C/1b. That is why i was after Ramos. I could consider Smith JR + Tellez for Ramos.

I am more looking for a Cather who can hit. Susac I am considering as well if I can find a potential package. Also considering Pacheco, Vogt or a Padres C.

It's such a waste to look for a starting C to be your backup, there's no point in a guy like Vogt or Ramos. Just flip a little something for Susac, he's the odd man out anyway and he has potential.
