Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
So, just read on MLBTradeRumors that the Tigers are considering blowing up their roster, including trading the likes of Justin Upton and Justin Verlander. Here is how the Tigers fared in my franchise and how the individual players fared in their 2016 seasons:
Tigers - Finished below .500, out of the division by a dozen games and out of the Wild Card by six games.
Verlander - 10-11, 3.93 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 6.24 K/9, 3.18 BB/9 for a 2.35 WAR.
Upton - .260/.338/.444 with 22 HR, 66 RBI, 7 SB for a 0.98 WAR.
What kind of package do you think it would take to get them on the Yankees in an 2016-2017 offseason trade?
Obviously, there would have to be some money changing hands. I was thinking Brett Gardner (1.66 WAR) might fit in there somewhere since the Tigers are somewhat known to need a center fielder and he can offset some of the cost of Upton, and then Michael Pineda (4.19 WAR) is kind of a cheaper rotation option, then plus some prospects? Kind of keeps them somewhat still competing in the Central while getting cheaper and getting some prospects as well? What are you thoughts?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Tigers wouldn't do that. They're unloading payroll and wanting to get younger, leaner and faster. Pineda and Gardner are totally opposite of that. We have Jacoby Jones to play center. While he's not the answer there, he's a better option than Gardner. Can't remember where I read it but seen a rumor about the possibility of a JV to Atlanta for Allard and Toussaint deal.Comment

What kind of package do you think it would take if we're talking full-prospect? I wouldn't want to deal Gary Sanchez, but I'm open to pretty much everyone else. Can't get stuff without giving stuff, as they say.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, but Verlander wasn't a 5 WAR pitcher in my franchise. It was his third straight sub 3-WAR season. That being said, I'm ok with the prospects being very high end, I was thinking Jorge Mateo would headline the package, I just didn't think Tigers would go "full rebuild." Hard to do that with Miggy, Martinez, Zimmerman, Kinsler, etc. unless they're going full fire-sale.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
So Mateo + Sheffield + Williams/Cave gets Verlander? Or both? And are we still including Gardner and/or Pineda in this? Anytime we're talking about productive big leaguers get paid big time salaries, trade value gets murky in my opinion.Comment

I doubt the Yankees trade Sheffield just 3 months after getting him.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys sorry not a trade question but obviously everyone here plays the game figured someone might know the answer. If I use some of the in game stubs to purchase more franchise budget does that increase stay for the duration of the franchise or do you have to basically buy that amount every year to maintain it?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
What else would I need to give the cubs to make a deal for schwarber with stroman or is stroman for Schwarber fair?
Also just trying to plan ahead for the off season with the Jays what would it take to bring Gerardo Parra to the Jays? I know he played a little bit of first base this year and ill be letting encarnacion walk in free agency. He has a pretty big contract for a player of is caliber so wasnt sure what would be appropriate to give up for him. I know he would give me more speed especially for a first baseman and plus defense while also giving me another left handed bat. Would most likely platoon him with Colabello at first.Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Hey all, have heard about this site before on reddit, trying to check it out. Was wondering if someone can give me an idea of the value on Trevor Bauer from the Indians? The Indians have most of their core pieces locked up for a few years, so not too many holes, especially with Allen and Zimmer as very good OF prospects, Naquin probably a good 4th OF type. the biggest hole is probably 1B going forward, so I was wondering what it would take to get any of Freddie Freeman from the Braves, Kyle Schwarber from the Cubs, Brandon Belt from the Giants, Wil Meyers from SD, or getting and moving a Evan Longoria from TB, Ryan Zimmerman from Wash? I think I would be good with any of those guys. Moving pieces I would let go of Roster players of Bauer, Shaw, Chisenhall, Naquin, one of the catchers, pitchers in one of Anderson or Clevenger, maybe Tomlin. Prospects I would let go in Kaminsky, Benson, Chang, maybe Aiken and maybe Meija. I think with Frazier gone I have to try to hold on to Allen and Zimmer. and Bradley is by far the best power hitter in the system, so he's not really going unless I get a schwarber or better type player back in a deal. I would also trade for another teams prospects, but don't follow other teams specs enough to understand.
I was also wondering does anyone know whats the best way to put together a coaching staff? in terms of what they add to each player and does a coaches age matter that much?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm just passed the 4th of July in my Angels Fantasy Draft Franchise and I want to acquire a defensive SS to help the team. Having Brad Miller and Daniel Murphy up the middle has been an adventure, but I'm tired of having to deal with some of the worst defense in the league. Plus Brad Miller has not been hitting either, so it's time to shake things up. Right now, my team is 49-34 and 4.0 games up on the Astros.
Some options at SS on teams that are out of it and their triple slash and WAR:
Didi Gregorious (.257/.303/.364/0.33 WAR) TBR 12.5 GB in WC
Andrelton Simmons (.237/.286/.342/0.26 WAR) SEA 13 GB in WC
Zack Cozart (.237/.305/.346/1.57 WAR) WSH 4 GB in WC
Freddy Galvis (.266/.344/.385/1.06 WAR) STL 4 GB in WC (109 ABs)
Erick Aybar (.251/.303/.315/1.12 WAR) LAD 4.5 GB in WC
That's pretty much it. It's a barren wasteland out there for SS. I was wondering if there may be any fits and what type of packages are we looking at for each player. Obviously, my farm system isn't a known commodity, but if I could get a sense of packages based off of Prospect potentials, I could put together some possible packages.Comment
