Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Alright, how is this for an Ellsbury solution, three-team trade:
Yankee acquire: Phil Hughes, Melvin Upton Jr
Padres acquire: Jacoby Ellsbury (plus $34.8M), Ricky Nolasco
Twins acquire: James Shields, Ivan Nova
Twins upgrade their pitching staff while getting out of some rough deals, Yankees and Padres exchange burdens with the Yankees paying down part of Ellsbury's contract. Thoughts?Comment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm definitely not an expert in this, so my word can go with a grain of salt here, but if you make the outfielder Brock Holt, you'll probably have to throw in Eduardo Rodriguez with him. Their fourth OF is a significant drop off from Gomez and Holt doesn't really shorten that gap much. Rodriguez would give them incentive to say yes because he at least improves their pitching staff as well.
However, if Jackie Bradley were the OF, then the pitcher could be more in line with a C prospect. Looking at the roster, I would say Henry Owens or Brian Johnson.
With all of that being said, that's strictly a "realistic" trade for what I think Gomez is worth to the Astros right now. So if you have Ignore Budget and Force Trade on, then I would go with one of those.
If either of those settings are off, then the trade won't work, because the Astros either won't like it, or the salaries won't work. Remember, the Astros are in "win now" mode, so good prospects won't be all that valuable to them.Comment

Shaw is younger than Seager though. Maybe instead of Marrero, if I add a B prospect, would that be a trade that makes sense? My teams:

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Seager is a very good 3B and you don't seem to realize just how useless Pablo Sandoval is. He is a massive negative assest. There is no team that would take Pablo unless they get an ELITE prospect back with him or they get a good prospect plus can get rid of a bad contractComment

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread
Still no. Shaw at best is equal to Seager. I don't think getting 3 years younger is worth it for Seattle to take on Panda's awful contract.Comment

Hmm alright then I'll give up on Seager. Any good 3B I could get with Shaw and a B? (No Sandoval)My teams:
