I know many people have posted on here about young controllable SPs and I was curious what people think about this:

    BOS trades
    C Blake Swihart
    SP Trey Ball
    SP Henry Owens
    SP Clay Buchholz
    SS Deven Marrero
    3B Michael Chavis

    OAK trades
    SP Sonny Gray
Older, bigger contract to offset the money coming to OAK

I know a lot of people in the sportswriter world have said Blake would be a very good centerpiece of a deal and it kills me to include him because he's my 2nd favorite Sox player but if he can bring back your next 1a then I gotta pull the trigger. Just curious what people think about this trade
So basically Sonny Gray for all of the prospects you don't care that much about and a slumping irl Clay Buchholz? Seems legit. Nobody turns on their players/prospects quite like Red Sox Nation, lol. Must be something in the chowdah

Turned on my prospects? My friends would be laughing right now, they made me a shirt with Moncada's name on the back, Benintendi's on the side and Devers on the front because of my love of prospects. I didn't turn on any of them, just know that it would take prospects not MLB talent to get players that are team controllable for awhile

Yeah, but wait until MLB '18 The Show and then you'll be offering up Devers, Moncada, and Benintendi. Point is, Swihart was UNTOUCHABLE last year and now every Red Sox fan that posts in here is including him in potential deals. I don't see any other fan bases so rabidly on their prospects of the moment and off their prospects of just one moment ago.

Part of the Swihart dilemma up here is that he wasn't supposed to be the starting catcher for the Boston Red Sox last year, he was supposed to be refining his skills as a prospect in AAA but then Vazquez went down and needed TJ and Swihart was rushed to the show, whether he was ready or not (which personally, I don't think he was) And now he's at a crossroads because the Sox are valuing Vazquez's defensive upside and average offense over what many think Blake can do, personally I would prefer to keep both of them and move Swihart to LF like they're experimenting with but I don't run the Sox. Dealing Dave Dombrowski does and he's shown a propensity for dealing prospects before giving them a chance to prove their worth to the organization. He did it with Miggy in FLA and many feel he'll do it again here in Boston

Anyone know of any cheap 4th outfielders? I need to upgrade from Reimold and Hyung Soon Kim. Plus, Kim just went down for two months with a torn hamstring.

It just made sense because Pollock's deal was a year and a half from expiring, with Soler and Contreras both having 4+ years of club control left on their contract. Plus my catching situation has been abysmal so now there's hope for the future.
I could be wrong but Pollack has much more team control than just a year and a half. I think that contract just bought out his pre-arb years. So he has a ways to go before he hits free agency. Realistically he would command much more than that. Although I'm admittedly not that high on Soler.

His contact is stupid low haha. Thanks for the suggestion but I think being able to put the bat on the ball is up there in the requirements too

What's a realistic trade for the Mets to get Charlie Blackmon? Granderson has just fallen off for me.

It's just after the allstar break, Blackmon is hitting just under .300 with around 15 hr and 15 sb.

Does Rafael Montero and Dominic Smith get it done? Is that an overpay?

What if Reyes was included in the trade as well and the Mets took on his salary? Would that reduce the package that the Mets would need to send?

Abraham Almonte has been a solid 4th OF for me. Switch hitter with mid 50s contact and high 40s power and can play all OF spots. I also signed Michael Bourne, but didn't release him like Toronto did. He's been very nice for me. Good contact/speed and defence for me.

If you want younger, a guy like Dwight Smith Jr has good contact vs righties and has solid defence and speed and is only young.

It's over a year+ into the franchise, coming off a year where pollock underperformed badly in the postseason. My lineup was in need of a powerful right handed bat to hit 5/6 and some type of answer behind the plate.
