    Re: Stuttering during gameplay?

So after playing all day I've adjusted to the low frame rate. I still wish it was higher because it would make the game that much better, but it's not a problem for me now at least. I guess I've just gotten used to it already, and I don't notice it as much. The good thing is that the majority of the time it's steady (no drops). So once you get used to the low frame rate, it doesn't really go any lower very often.

The only stuttering I'm seeing is on check swing .Not all the time but enough to notice

Like 2 years ago the cutscenes where choppy but even than the gameplay was at a smooth 60 FPS and I believe that most people wouldn't be able to even tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS in a video game.
How do you know it's 60 fps?

Its been said that it is 60 FPS for like 10 years straight. Where was it ever said it was not? I have heard some people in the past say it was like 15 FPS but there is no way. I do belive that a lot of people wouldnt be able to tell including me if the game was 30 or 60 but i know it hasnt been below 30 becuase below 30 in any game fells very un smooth and in a game like baseball you would really be able to tell if it was under 30. I do think 2 years ago that some of the none game play stuff was like 25 or so though.

If you believe this game has been running at 60 fps for 10 years, then I have friend in Nigeria that is looking to deposit $1 million into your bank account.

Or its completely true. Cause neither have I. Almost 50 games played in 20 or so different stadiums. Not once has my fps dropped. From the time the pitch is selected to thrown to hit to fielded. It hasn't moved.

And it's not like I'm just oblivious to it. I game much more on a pc capable of playing just about everything at 60 fps.

The game may not be 60fps all the time. But it sure as hell stays where ever it is at for me.

I got in quite a few games tonight. I'm usually fairly critical of this series when comes to frame rate but honestly, it wasn't bad at all in my brief experience, even improved in a few areas (especially the pitcher/batter duel screen, definite improvement there). Then again, maybe certain stadiums have everything to do with it and I wasn't playing in those stadiums.

Anyway, I'm satisfied. We'll probably never see this series at a locked 60 but it is what it is.

We will when the next generation of consoles release. Cause Sony won't be stupid enough to release such underpowered machines again.

Myself I think this fps dropping or not dropping is more of a personal thing in that some will notice it and others won't. Just the way different peoples brain are wired I guess you could say.

Can someone who is suffering from stuttering take a video on their cell phone or something? Seems crazy to me that some are saying the game is unplayable and others, like me, haven't seen a single instance of stuttering during gameplay. Would love to see what others are complaining about, firsthand.

Much as I'd like to, I cannot. I tried taking some videos on my phone but the video capture won't do 60 FPS.

All I can suggest is to play challenge of the week since it's the one mode and situation that is the same for everyone. Watch the ball coming in - see if it seems like it's not a smooth flight path. Especially on pitches outside the strike zone. When the ball moves farther to the left or right it should become more clear - like there's a sort of after-image behind it.

That is a sign of lowered framerate, and it's what those of us who are seeing it are concerned about. Because it's not just happening in CotW.

It's not stupidity. It's the company's marketing towards the masses of consumers. The console is already too expensive imo for the quality of its hardware. Before the announcement of PS4 most of us were talking about the leap to 60fps gaming and we were proved wrong. If Sony puts in better hardware the price will be at least doubled. It's all about profit. Some companies are ok with 1000% profit. Some others want 3000% profit. It's up to you as a consumer to decide.
I decided to keep the PS3 and invest in a good PC gaming rig. I want the sports videogames to maintain a steady 60fps. Any drop really ruins my experience.

don't worry I know you're not lying because I haven't experienced any stuttering during the game either.

Best thing to do is do what I'm doing and just go back to enjoying the game and let those who are having issues rant because if you state something other than their opinion then you're lying, stupid, can't see, or have a special copy and they start demanding things from you.

Got something for the other low framerate guys to check...

Play a play now game at Kauffman in June, at 1 PM with clear skies. That's what I'm doing right now, and it looks for all the world like 60 FPS without any drops whatsoever. The ball is moving towards the plate fluidly instead of skipping up there, and even the outfield play looks butter smooth. It's WAY different from what I've experienced at Wrigley and in CotW. This isn't like before with my eyes just adjusting to the lower framerate - it's actual fluid motion.

Kauffman is, of course, a very open air stadium without a lot of flashy stuff over the outfield walls (the waterfalls and the giant CF board, but that's about it). I think that may be key to why it looks so smooth - fewer graphics to render.

                                Thoughts?
