It's bad enough that they had to ruin the offline hitting experience by constantly warping you in and out of the batters box in between pitches.(even on Broadcast) But now having the game fly by, with no easy way to see what has transpired, without skipping through more scenes, I am officially done with RTTS until it get's patched.

From 12 -14, I use to sink hundreds and hundreds out hours into this mode, enjoying the experience, and the game at my own pace. Now I don't want anything to do with it.

I've noticed this too and frankly at this point i don't know anymore what they are doing, it makes no sense at all. Why keep broadcast mode if it doesn't work like, you know... a broadcast mode ? Why all this chat about telemetry if they're reading it in the worst way possibile ? Previously, i skip most of the at bat cutscenes during a game ( not in RTTS ), but i saw all of them during important at bats and when i want to slow down a bit the game flow. If you look at my telemetry, probably i skip 80% of the cutscenes. Ah, let's remove them ! Numbers are nothing if you refuse to read them properly. Resources ? It costs a lot less resources to leave untouched all the things that work well. All the pressure, all this speedup festival they're putting into the game is ruining the whole baseball feeling, especially in mode like RTTS.

The fact that they felt the need to remove them, even though the time they actually save the people who button mash through everything is extremely negligible is pretty telling how much this data they collect sways their decisions, and how little they think those decisions through.

Basically those that skip those scenes gain close to no benefit, while those who want to take their time and enjoy the pace of actual baseball, are punished, and any sense of immersion is destroyed.

And the fact they tout all these presentation "options" (Quickplay, Hybrid, Broadcast) while keeping Broadcast as stripped as ever.

I'm definitely with you guys on this! I could understand if it was not working but I have been playing since MLB 14 PS4. I started out with RTTS but it felt like the entire team was relying on me! I found my heaven with player lock in Franchise mode.

What bother's me the most is that when they introduced quick counts I could see this was a move to make a faster game. But one thing they did correct from a design perspective and I even remember them saying it specifically was "we give you the option" having those options to play the game at a normal pace kept everyone happy. Want to play fast quick count's want to enjoy the game turn it off and play normal.

Now its just fast play even when broadcast is selected. I try to concentrate and remember to hit "O" but sometime's I miss it and from the initial post its not highly that it will get patched! So what are my options!

              A) Deal with it press "O" and enjoy the beautiful animations, improved sound, player morale (I play franchise offline only)

              B) Go back and continue to play MLB 15 and try to win rookie of the year and a world series!

I'm starting a hashtag with #HUGZ4THE0.04% for those of us who miss this feature and like to play a simulation and not rushed experience!

                Re: RTTS Game watch altered/removed

The funny part is, the catcher throws back to the pitcher most of the time now (THIS IS A GOOD THING, SDS.).. something that wasn't in 15 even on broadcast. That slows the game down, SDS! Totally goes against what you're force feeding us!

I think this is all just backwards poor quality control honestly. You add things nobody cares about but take away things that '0.04%' of the community uses. I really want to hope this is all just a mistake.

I'm sorry but this thread is growing rather quickly. Quite a few people are disappointed with your second most popular game mode. Being told there's "no chance" of looking into the issue is quite saddening actually. Options are never a bad thing. Having less options makes a game worse, period. The fact that your idea is to streamline menus with less options is borderline insulting. I've never seen someone complain about a game having too many options, in any game.

Very poor effort on RTTS this year. Add in a bunch of gimmicks nobody wants and take away single player options. Absolutely mindblowing. I get that having new features looks good when you're trying to sell a game, but so does letting your customers play your game the way they want to. Force feeding us a washed down arcade version of the game we've loved for 10 years isn't cool.

Bring back the simulation options. It honestly shouldn't be too much to ask, to have old options copy pasted into the game. You did it before, please do it again.

Special moments is all I really have to say about the "removal" of this feature (or modification of how it's implemented through button pressing)

Even though I don't play RTTS, isn't baseball a team sport with a lot of down time where a player sits from the dugout watching his teammates at the plate? If the gamer can't watch the action of his teammates, isn't the gamer missing those special moments especially if he is not involved in the play whatsoever? The RTTS player can't be the only one who's involved in exciting plays, right? You can only relish in the following moments if you are actually able to see them play out on the field, right?

                      Re: RTTS Game watch altered/removed

I found a slight Work Around for Player Lock!

If you like to use player lock in franchise mode and watch the entire game pan out this may work for you!

•*Start a game with presentation set to broadcast you will either get a scripted defense attempt or a at bat depending on where you are in the line up. I set myself to lead off so that I don't come up to bat with the score 10-0 and not know what happened! Getting a scripted defense attempt is so terrible and I'll just leave it at that!

•*Play through your first attempt when it ends hit "O" to continue to watch the game! Then go to options and change the presentation mode from broadcast to Fast Play!

                      • Once you select Fast Play you will then see your entire team's at bat until all three out's are made with out hitting "O" every time between each at bat or after every play! YAY!

                      • Once your team gets three outs you will need to press "O" to continue to watch the game!

                      The Down Side

                      • You will be in fast play mode so you will miss all the cut scenes and nice animations :/ Even if they are repetitive still helps with gameplay immersion.

                      • Its not the best but beats having to hit the "O" button over and over after each play!

                      • I had my fielding attempts set to None under player lock options and I got two ground balls hit to me using this method so I don't know about that.

On the other hand I have had my fielding attempts set to all and for 9 innings hit "O" each play and not a single ground ball hit my way! But that was before I discovered this method so I'll continue to test it!

                      • You will have to do this for each game! Still beats hitting the "O" button each time!

                      I will never understand

                      • How a group of talent can come together and put so much effort into graphical details, uniforms, grass, bats, animations and stadiums, presentations and then ask the user to bypass it all by speeding up the game and replacing the options of choice! Just baffles me especially since I have been playing the series since PS4 MLB14!

I love watching Baseball so I hope this helps someone out! Have Fun Guys!!

I could see my team with a 5-1 lead one moment then the next I'm at the bat or on defense my team is down 10-6 all of the sudden and I'm like how in the hell did that happen? LOL!

Another complaint is the statline missing from games I have to pause the game just to see my batting average now when it used to be seen on the overlays during every at-bat.

The radio part during RTTS doesn't mention what the players did during the game too much anymore.

During the lineups, either Eric Karros or Steve Lyons doesn't mention the players by names that he spotlights. He says where they're hitting in the order but that's a small complaint.

Can't think of anymore but there was some more. I'm still enjoying the experience a whole lot though as they've added a lot of new stuff in to make the experience more enjoyable during RTTS so not complaining too much.

This is my biggest complaint that I didn't mention yet that's bigger than the triangle and circle skips is the base running change. I can't get steals anymore because they fast forward right to the action. I like to steal to third a lot to get myself into quick scoring position and break Rickey Henderson's all-time steals record. Now everytime I steal the guy is hitting the ball or even worse if he's out I have to run all the way back to the previous base.

They should balance this out where you choose when you want to fast forward the action on base running.

Baseball is a slow game and for those of us playing it we can deal with it. I think the game might be gearing too much towards a casual fan's experience like Madden and NBA 2K does instead of keeping it simulated and slow. Casual fans need to get used to the baseball experience that this is not a fast sport nor should it be. At least give us the option to make it fast or slow.
This was very well said. As someone who plays using broadcast mode, but does use quick counts...SCEA found a great balance in regular offline gameplay that gives us all the options we want to finish a game.

We can finish a game as fast as 35-40 minutes, I've to heard of faster even. And as slow as 2 and a half hours or more. Absolutely the #1 reason IMO this is by far the best sports game out there and there's not a close 2nd. They found a way to appeal to every type of baseball fan, and sports video game players.

Imagine if Madden created a mode that made it possible to play a full game in 2 hours with the most amazing realistic game stats!? But yet, at the same time you can achieve those same stats and finish the game in 30-40 minutes. THAT'S what SCEA has done with this game with offline games, franchise mode games etc. The way I play using QC I can finish in as quick as 40-45min, and up to a hour max. A solid happy medium.

Makes no sense why they changed RTTS like this, I agree. I tried to play it but after I played 12 games or so in like 30 minutes it felt and I felt so lost lol. I had no idea what our team record or any stats were, what my personal season stats were etc etc.

They went to full extreme appealing to the crowd who want to finish games fast and as many as possible. They already had a solid happy medium, with other options for those who wanted to slow it down. Taking away options is never a good idea in a sports game. Adding options are almost always a good idea. I'm trusting that if they hear these complaints loud enough they can and will focus some quality time into RTTS.

I really hope they take a year off for improving online game modes, and focus on rtts and franchise only for next year.

I agree I would understand if those options were not working but they were since MLB 14 (PS4) fire up MLB 16 and its like surprise!

I started playing player lock in franchise in MLB 14 (PS4) because RTTS started to feel too scripted. Now my player lock feels scripted and baseball is not scripted!

I've been playing MLB the Show since 2009. When they added player lock to franchise with result place option, I was in heaven. Now that they have basically taken that away, I find myself questioning the future of this game. Like others have said, I can sorta understand not enhancing it anymore if only a few use it, but why take it out? If they would just give us an option to turn on what they have now from the beginning of the game, that would be great at this point.

I don't play RTTS but totally feel ppl's frustrations. I understand removing certain aspects of the game to make room for new stuff, but removed options, like home run celebration on/off cam, makes no sense.

                                The Hype!

                                Well Gentlemen,

This is a true story of how it all went down for me. I have always spent a ton of time creating a SS to look like me in MLB the show using the create a player face sculpting engine since MLB The Show 14 on PS4. Year to Year saves was a joy because I actually play 162 games each year in Franchise mode using a player locked SS with All Pitches turned on to watch the full game.

I was hyped and I mean hyped for MLB 16! I followed all the twitch streams and was excited to hear about new animation's and a smarter AI and the small changes to Franchise mode which I hoped would give me better CPU teammates.

So March 29th roles around I hit download from the PSN store waited about 45 min for the download and a hour or so for the game to install.Fired up and continued my Franchise save from MLB 15 there's my created SS looking a little better with the update to the created characters.

I get into the game first thing I noticed was the sound improvement then the graphics MLB 15 was beautiful and even though there are some hiccups with the graphics on MLB 16 flickering in the outfield stadiums for example. It still looked amazing with atmospheric perspective added to the stadiums like fog or haze in the distance. I was locked in and ready to go!

                                Back to Back to Back

My created player lock SS comes up to bat I strike out, the screen fades I am up to bat again not realizing what just happened I hit a pop up and get out. Another screen fade and I come up to bat for the third time in a row. Now I’m like wait a minute. I look at the score bug and I am losing 6 to 1!

I go to options thinking I got something turned on by accident. I look around Player Lock Options and realized all the options are gone. Okay maybe their in there when I hit R2 no go! Exit out the Franchise game maybe they are in the main settings NOPE!

I come over to the forums and found the original thread before this one. After reading some of the comments on the first couple of pages of this thread! Reality started to kick in TEARS OF FIRE started to fill the bottom parts of my eyes as I starred at the options screen in MLB 16. I just spent $59.99 and just found out about my favorite features were removed because only 0.04% use it.

                                The Trust

No one forced me to buy MLB The Show 16. I brought it because of the The Trust since the first game I purchased on PS4 and the people who worked on the game had live streams explaining the details.

                                The Reviews
I like how in the reviews online never mentioned that these options that had been in ever since MLB 14 and MLB 15 had been removed. It was not even mentioned on the Twitch Stream They mentioned hey we have a new Hybrid Mode along with Fast Play and Broadcast.

Anyone who has played the last two iterations of the game would have of assumed that Broadcast mode is the full game broadcast. But now everything is Fast Play even when on Player Lock. If they would have said these features were removed on the twitch stream I would have never purchased the game.

                                The Patches Coming Out

I am holding on to hope that the first two patches released for this game address the Player Lock and Broadcast Presentation options. If not it will probably never get addressed as noted earlier in this thread and from this point forward it will probably be forever removed.

I have personally discovered more than a handful of bugs in the game and have reported each to
The Show Nation bug report forum with image and video evidence of the bugs to help improve the game.

Pressing The “O” Button For 18 innings

I literally sat through a 18 inning Player Locked Franchise game pressing the “O” Button through each at bat for my player locked SS, team at bats as well as the CPU to watch a full uninterrupted game.

The reason I did this was to not have a scripted defense turn! Knowing the ball is directly coming to you at Short Stop is no fun at all! Manual Catch was also removed so fielding the ball is just a matter of running to a spot to trigger the glove animation and works every time! HEART BREAKING!

This 18 inning game behaved a lot like a scripted RTTS game and waited for me to make a big play! This was the reason I stopped playing RTTS! I ended up losing to the CPU. I tweeted the Devs about this and have yet to hear a response!

                                What Now

MLB The Show 16 does some things very well and its a shame that we can’t enjoy them or miss out on them because the only way to get All Pitches is to play on Fast Play hack.

It seems a lot of the user’s here are not happy about this. So I am trying to hold out for hope otherwise I will probably have to go back to playing MLB 15 and miss out on the nice animations, new ui screens, changes to franchise mode etc!
