Mlb 14 cutscences were really bad like 15 FPS or something but even then gameplay was still smooth. Now this year the gameplay is very smooth as always and cutscences while not perfect are much better then 14 or 15 was. I would say gameplay is 60 FPS or at least 30 100% of the time but cutscences are like 20-25 FPS like 30% of the time. I just don't understand how some people have this issue and others don't but I know there have been issues that people have had with games that I never had besides just this game. Example Batman arkham origins was said to be a bug mess game yet I only saw like 4-5 glitches and none were even close to game killer. I have played MLB the show from 08 to this year and I have not once and I mean once seen any of the games slow down outside of online play or cutscences.
It isn't "some people have this issue". Everyone is having fps issues, some just notice it more than others. PS4's do not perform differently.

The game has never run at a locked 60 fps on PS4, ever. It used to exceed 30fps on certain views, but this year it seems to hover around 30 and never exceed it. It does drop, and when you have a game that drops under 30 like that it's very noticeable.

The only domed stadium I've played in so far is Roger's center, and it seems fine with the roof open but yeah it has issues when closed.

I've also noticed slowdowns on some pitcher's animations but not others. Once the ball leaves their hand it seems to pick up again. Switching to the MLB 15 camera for both offence and defense has helped but it's not perfect. Still fisheye chugged during the home opener in a closed Roger's Center.

It as been said that Mlb has ran at 60 FPS from like 08 on. Now maybe you don't believe that but that is what has been said and I don't buy that everyone is having FPS issue and some people just cant tell because when a game is running at low a FPS you can tell. When a game is running at a low FPS games look like they are going in slow motion and I see that on cutscences some but never on gameplay. If the gameplay had FPS issues like the cutscences then the game play would look more like cutscences during game play. I wouldn't be able to hit either if the game really ran so bad. I haven't tried online in I think like 3 years because I don't play video games much online and when I did in the past the game ran really bad like 15 FPS bad or something. I have seen reviews in the past for video games that talk about how a game dost run smooth. So if a game really has wide spread FPS issues then reviews will talk about it. This game you don't see reviews saying how the game doesn't run well and that makes me think that this must be a issue that only a small amount of people are having like 10% or something.

The only time I notice framerate issues is on cutscenes as well......maybe the tv some people are using do a better job of hiding it than others? I honestly feel like the game plays as smooth as any sports game I play

Stuttering/Freezing. Occasional low-looking frame rates. Sometimes brightness looks like it's "flickering" or like someone is turning the brightness knob back and forth a bit.

Somewhat significant aliasing/jaggies on shadows - was easily noticeable, I didn't have to get up on the TV and "count the pixels" to see it.

Sometimes the graphics seem to lag what's actually happening.

What ball park and weather conditions was it in?
Any for me. I haven't noticed too much of a "preference" for park or time of day/weather.

              Was it gameplay or cutscenes?
The stuttering/freezing happens during the pitcher-batter confrontation. Most of the time it happens at the start of the pitcher's windup or after the pitch is taken/swing and missed.

The low-looking frame rates happen primarily during cutscenes/broadcast replays.

The worst jaggies happened during a day game when my team was walking out of the dugout during after a win. It showed a face shot of my winning pitcher getting congratulated and saw the jaggies that were from the cap's shadow on his face very clearly.

The graphics lagging a bit behind doesn't seem to be an input thing but sometimes the game just seems to have to "catch up". This happens mostly when I swing the bat. Sometimes the sound of the ball hitting the bat happens and then the player like "swings in fast forward" to catch up. Doesn't happen often and mostly to my fictional draftee from MLB15 that uses Julio Franco's swing.

              What are your TV settings?
Um...not sure. I don't think my TV has anything fancy in that regard. It's a flatscreen but not particularly new (probably six years old or so)

What camera views do you use?
Hitting/Pitching: A custom view based on Pitcher Center preset.

              In-Play Defense: Medium preset

              In-Play Offense: Dynamic preset

That, to me, tells me I'm not crazy for seeing this. To this point there's been no comment from the developers, and as such I don't know that there's really a whole lot to discuss on the topic that hasn't been already. They do tend to respond to the highest voted issues first though, so I'm confident there will be some kind of resolution (or at least, confirmation that they can't do anything about it until '17).

Although I do think that - with nothing new to talk about - this discussion will stagnate like the last one, I'll do my best to get it going:

What issues have you personally noticed?

Lower framerate at certain stadiums under certain conditions during gameplay (pitching, batting, fielding). I wouldn't even call it framerate drop or choppiness because it wasn't a sudden drop - it was just stable, but low.

What ball park and weather conditions was it in?

The two worst ones I've noticed were Wrigley Field daytime with the ivy in full bloom during a play now game (the first game of '16 that I played), and the closed roof Rogers Center used for last week's Challenge of the Week. I've seen it to varying degrees with other stadiums, and some, such as Kaufmann* or the minor league stadiums, appear to be at or close to 60 fps everywhere except cutscenes.

                Was it gameplay or cutscenes?

I am only concerned with performance during gameplay. I don't mind the game looking pretty and taking a framerate hit when I'm not trying to control what's happening.

                What are your TV settings?

I use an Asus desktop computer monitor to play my PS4 on, and I have other PS4 games that do run at 60 FPS that I can benchmark off of. In short, I know what 60 FPS (or at the very least, above 30) looks like on my monitor. And I know it's not the PS4, or my monitor settings.

What camera views do you use?

Batting - Fisheye, Pitching - Broadcast/Outfield (depending on if the camera has a good view of the strike zone). In stadiums where the lower framerate is occurring, I can see it on both.

                * There's something strange about Kauffman, though. In play now games I've run there it was extremely smooth, but on the new CotW released today it seemed closer to the performance at Rogers. Need some more attempts (and going back to Kaufmann in play now mode) to really confirm that, though.

Agree, there definitely seems to be a issue with the game accessing music it uses for stadium sounds.

And i don't remember SoTS ever causing little stutters in 13,the last version i played on ps3.

This is almost my situation as well to a t, except I'm using a Samsung 4K tv and not a computer monitor. I played a game in April at 7pm at o.Co and it was pretty darn smooth. I played a day game at Kaufman and it was pretty darn smooth. Wrigley is brutal, and other parks I've played at (such as U.S. Cellular Field) are so-so. Overall I'm very disappointed. The game is awesome but it just looks so bad in certain parks when the ball is in play that its killing my excitement for the game. I'm a franchise guy who plays every game so this is affecting me big time.

There is obviously FPS variations from stadium to stadium. The severity varies a bit but in some cases the game is nearly broken due to frame drops DURING GAMEPLAY. It doesn't concern me very much for stutters in replays.

I feel bad for cubs fans this year... And as a Boston fan, I'm not too happy either. The stuttering frame rate in wriggly field is nearly unplayable. Sure you can still play but good luck hitting a 97mph fastball with the FPS issue. Fenway doesn't fair that much better... Definitely not 60 FPS... Not even close. So the graphics improved at the cost of FPS.

I'd gladly sacrifice some of the new graphical 'enhancements' for 60 FPS in every stadium.

Just hope/pray they can release a performance patch or I'm going back to 2015.

I think it's possible - but I don't know, maybe on consoles devs aren't able to.

I know with PC games, it's possible. Consoles are supposed to be "like PCs" now and more powerful, so maybe devs have more options.

Frame rate issues can be improved in a patch but that varies widely from game to game. You really have to evaluate it on a case by case basis. In Fallout 4 they improved draw distance, to give an example of graphical improvements post launch.

On top of whether it can be done, you have to ask if there are the resources to get it done post launch.

Although I believe the frame rate is not ideal, I'm okay with them addressing it in a future version. This is a game that can, in my opinion, hit 60 fps if only the crowd could be optimized.

SDS is a smaller studio than other sports game developers, so maybe the good reviews and great sales that are sure to follow will encourage Sony to increase the budget to allow them to get some more graphics guys on board.

i see a frame rate drop if i play the game for several hours, then it will get laggy, kind of like a memory leak. But all i do is close the game and restart and it fixes it.

but the only real time i see it laggy is when using meter pitching, you can see the bar kind of skip and not move up and down smoothly like it should.

I have noticed a similar thing, some times when I turn the PS4 off and reset it and unplug it and go to play the game is silky smooth other times when I go to play it is very laggy and an awful frame rate.
