How the heck do you steal second when there is a runner on third?I tried doing it how i used to in 15 the show but it won't work on 16 the show.

Point at the runner on first with the left stick, and hit L2. That should make just him steal.

With default settings, push L stick towards first and while holding it in that direction, press L2 until it vibrates, then release both.

As others posted, but I find that when I do this the runner at 3rd will attempt to steal home at times. Can be frustrating when playing a tight game online.

I'm thinking that this may not have been a problem at launch because I'm 25 games into my franchise and I only just started experiencing it at game 23 or 24. Now I steal a lot and I can't say for sure that I've not stolen 2nd with runners on 1st and third, but I feel like I've probably done it and it worked fine.

Is vibrating absolutely necessary. Through brief trial and error, I've abandoned waiting for it to vibrate. I need to revisit it, but there is definitely a difference between:

Holding/Vibrating/Releasing L2 vs Simply tapping L2

I might be mistaken, but I no longer wait for the vibration (at least I don't think I wait). Holding/vibrating/releasing L2 seems to always cause all baserunners to steal.

Holding the L2 for an extended period of time activates the quick steal. So as soon as you release it the runner will take off. If you let go of the left stick before releasing L2 and you activated the quick steal all runners will go.

That's really good to know. Thanks. I'll have to give that a test run. Need to keep that left stick pointed at the runner. Very good tip. I'll have to test it out tonight. Releasing the left stick could very well have been the problem.

Did you try the above solution and what nemesis04 suggested?

Did you simply try holding the left stick towards the 1B for 1 second (or 2 second), and only tapping the L2 once (press down and release immediately) while the left stick is still pushed towards 1B?

Or what the heck, hold the left stick towards 1B for 5 seconds, then tap and release L2 once, then release the left stick.

Just point the L stick to 1st base and tap L2, don't hold it. Every year people seem to have problems with it but is's actually pretty simple.

Okay, retried this methods multiple times and it still activated all runners. With runners on 1st and 2nd, holding the left stick towards 2nd, held down L2, released L2, still holding onto left stick, and both runners on 1st and 2nd would steal the next bag.

The only way I managed to get a single individual runner to steal was the Tap L2 (tap and release) method.

For me, it does not work.

I tried again, point the left stick to 1B and simply Tap L2 (quick tap and release). That charges the runner to steal once the pitcher pitches the ball. After you do this (point the left stick to 1B and simply Tap L2), you can now solely focus on hitting. Once the pitch leaves the pitcher's hand, that one runner on 1st will attempt to steal.

Yep, as I posted earlier, this "tap" L2 method is the one that works to control an independent runner when there are multiple runners on base.

This is why I want a baserunning and stealing base (not RTTS baserunning, but standard franchise/exhibition mode) practice mode implemented. The existing steal/baserunning in the game is from an RTTS point of view. I simply don't play RTTS.

So it seems, that the auto steal (point left stick @ press L2) works, but the manual steal (point and hold left stick & hold L2 and release when you send the runner) does not.

In past years I usually used auto steal, but this year I feel like manually releasing the runners, because I'm hoping better result online.
