Baseball would never classic again. Haven't you seen the news with Manfred doing all of these pace of play changes? I'd like to record that program though and see what they say about it. But in my mind, baseball will only future.

Speaking of which, anyone happen to catch the World Baseball Classic? When I was watching it, yes the first thing that came into my mind is: "Let me try and distinguish the separation of dialogue and conversation between Vasgersian in real life and The Show."

Can he sound perfect in a video game? Of course not. They have to account for every situation and stitch the emotions together with it, plus names and statistics. However, in my uber long post in this thread, I suggested that any games we can catch PBP with him, that SDS captures his individual pieces of dialogue, arrange them for appropriate moments, play them back for Matt, then ask him to re-record that line as necessary. I've never had trouble not mimicking myself before, no matter the emotion I needed to convey.

At least this takes away the script, but Matt doesn't always sound like he's reading off a script either. does help with the organic feel though, and perhaps finds many different ways he can describe a ground ball that's hit, etc.

(also, according to the Machado home run in Marlins Park last night, Matt refers to the LF concourse behind the stands is known as "big boy territory"... let's make sure that name is tagged in )

I'm saying that as a baseball fan, not just as a Mets fan. Fans of other teams would agree that Gary, Keith and Ron are probably the best 3 man booth in the MLB. I know it hurts you as a Phillies fan to say anything good about the Mets.

The single best announcer is/was Vin Scully, I could listen to him call anything.

And while I live in the Philly market, I can't imagine anyone here being biased towards Tom McCarthy. Thank god they play the radio feed in the CBP bathrooms. lol
I would urge anyone with MLB tv to tune into an SNY feed. Gary Keith and Ron are insightful and hilarious, those broadcasts are NEVER boring, especially when Keith is on. Ron Darling is smart as a whip and gives great analysis, and Gary is an amazing announcer.

Don't know if this has already been brought up or not, but, my only gripe with commentary is for some of the players is the announcers don't even call them by their actual names. It's "number 15 comes up to bat", or "the right fielder makes the catch". That's boring.

The reason that happens is if they don't have that particular players name in their audio database, or if that particular player hasn't made their mlb debut yet and is a rookie.

They used to actually take requests for names and pronunciations and such. They still might, but I'm so glad they did at the time! Some of my friends with rather uncommon last names (like Subramanian and Shabatura) made the cut way back maybe eight years ago, and they also added my best friend's last name in Volkert (he passed thirteen years ago). Major kudos to them for that!

What's nice is that even if their name isn't in the database, you can edit the player and match something "close" if you'd like, not that it's the same thing. For example, I created Barry Bonds in MLB Power Pros, but because Bonds wasn't in the audio database, I put "Bonser" in place (Boof Bonser was a pitcher for the Twins). It was hilarious whenever the announcer would exclaim his name "BONSER... MAKES THE CATCH!" Even my roommate at the time has the last name Saraka, and we used Zumaya... close enough I guess?

Thankfully mine is common enough to always make these games.

Wow... You are not kidding... I upped the color on my TV to 100, changed a few other things and holy **** does the Nats red alternate jersey look very nice! I'll have to check out other teams as well.

I'll try to post pics of the Nats and others.

I heard that too, then rewound it because I couldn't place the context. Still can't.

I got to thinking maybe Smoltz just doesn't do much commentating, but he's done a crap ton the past half-decade so //I don't really know what it was referring to. The Show doesn't have WBC, either.

I guess he's just keying into the fact that Vasgersian showed he loves what he does.

Smoltz said it really awkwardly and it was hard to make out and Vasgersian kinda acted like he didn't know how to respond. It was weird. But Smoltz was right. I rarely actually hear Vasgersian call games but I've watched virtually the entire wbc and when the emotion is high Vasgersian excels. Love what I've heard and I wish the Show was able to capture those moments better.

Slightly off topic but my other favorite commentator is the underrated Rich Waltz who did the Tokyo portion of the wbc so I'm sure some of you heard him the last few weeks as well.

Being overseas we had the MLB Network international broadcasts for the WS games. Which were Vasgersian and Buck Martinez. Those games were so much more enjoyable to watch than Joe Buck and John Smoltz.

Also Vasgersian being a huge A's fan doesn't hurt. Lol

Anyone else get flashbacks of Triple Play 2002 when you hear Harold Reynolds' voice?

Something about hitting home runs in that game felt amazing. So many childhood memories of Harold calling home runs by Bernie Williams, Giambi, etc.

Triple Play Baseball was the GOAT back in the day!!! Remember the home run derby where you could hit objects and get points? My favorite one was the house!

Off topic question for you: Why do you end all of your posts with "Reed is comin' atcha!" , even though it is already in your signature and then you have it in your posts twice? And what does it mean?

                              Just curious...
