Pretty sure I remember Luis saying this during the stream.

Anyone know if this will be active in online exhibition head to head? They said in the stream no to DD (because they don't have right stats for legends) but nothing about exhibition/online

Also side note-- they finallyripped this feature off from Konami's Japanese baseball game (PYS) which has had it for years..it's great there, glad they brought it over

Another question regarding fastball/breaking pitch quirks is exactly which pitches are considered fastballs, which are breaking pitches and which are neither. Luis said curve and sliders are breaking pitches. What about 2 seam fastball/sinker, split finger fastball, cut fastball, change up etc?

The devs are fantastic and probably loaded down with a lot of work but they could do a little better job of answering questions or explaining things.

I would think 4sm, 2sm, cutter and RFB would be in the FB fam
sinker, slider, slurve, curves (12-6, Sweeper, KnuckleCRV), screwball, fork, splitter and knuckler in the breaking ball fam.
palmball, vulcan,,circle and straight change in neither fam.

The ability to edit everything is always preferred. Then those that want the randomness get it, those that want to emulate get what they want.

I can see this team eventually giving us the option to edit quirks on created players.

On another note I am giddy about this new player personality feature. It will open a new feeling of immersion with your roster, making late game decisions, lineups for certain situations etc etc and add a new layer of "wow" when you draft prospects and see what their quirks may be.

I hope there is at least one non-real minor leaguer that has NO quirks.

A sinker is a fastball, not a breaking pitch.

Change ups are considered off speed. Breaking pitches are considered off speed as well but they are also referred to as breaking pitches.

The deep dives are great but I'm always left with unanswered questions. I wonder if the devs posted a thread here and in the "official website" asking for questions 2 or 3 days prior to the steam maybe they would be able to spend more time sifting through questions ahead of time and answering them.

I'd doubt that could shape their livestream, I get the impression it's not as leisurely as they make it look, they have a business model on selling points to emphasize. Specialty information, probably will only exist on these forums and twitter accounts. But if it isn't all serious like that, then I agree they should let us voice what maybe, possibly just might, make it into discussion on the livestream.

As to whether it makes sense - it makes perfect sense in the same way some guys hit rhp better than lhp. They don't have one contact rating. They have two contact ratings depending on whether the pitcher if R or L.

Some guys hit the fastball far better than breaking balls. The overall rating is an average of what they hit against all pitches but the quirk separates it into vs fastball and vs breaking pitches. If a guy has no significant difference and doesn't have that quirk then the average is still used.

I was originally dubious about quirks but now that Luis explained it I believe it's the best thing they added specifically to franchise aside from ball spin and game play stuff.
I think this about the base rating being an average makes the most sense on why a negative rating would exist. I would love for someone to confirm if this is the way the game does it. At first I thought a positive rating with a negative rating along with the overall rating made no sense because 3 ratings was silly but if it's the way you said it works for me.

They already confirmed quirks were in other modes during the franchise stream. And they confirmed no quirks based on splits in other modes. The player attribute quirks are just a visual aid--they don't affect anything.
