The only negative for me so far is that they definitely decreased the frequency of little cutscenes between pitches. I used to love watching those. Especially with how good the graphics and player models are this year. Would have been nice if they kept it how it used to be.

The game looks flawless and plays so smooth but one complaint I have is a pretty big one at least to me:

Chase Headleys (and I'm sure other switch hitters) spray chart only applies when hes batting against right handed pitchers. Therefore, when hes facing a lefty (batting right handed) the defense extreme shifts to the SECOND BASE side!!! That's totally unacceptable if you ask me.

Yes..hope can be patched.

Auto baserunning sadly is still broken. Runners randomly stop running on plays hit in their direction.

That sounds like a bug, I would list that in the bug thread. I have noticed quite a few OSD errors which I am guessing are bugs, doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the game but it is a little unfortunate.

Its a bummer that Josh Donaldson is a 90 not a 94 because hes angry about his contract. Doesnt seem fair because without in season contract negotiations theres nothing i can do about it.

I love these new menus! I know this is the type of thing they change each year to give the game a new look. But I wish they would just stick with this now. Really good job on these.

I also really like the look when you are in your franchise. And you click on a player. That entire setup looks really beautiful too.

So i casually go into retro mode because you know, i never really cared for it. Then I see Chipper Jones as a legend. THANK YOU SDS!

and i do love the dynamic theme for the PS4 as well.

Anyone else noticing some really bad morphing glitches with swings and also more clipping of the bat and the ball in replay mode?

Try playing as the Rockies and using Carlos Gonzalez and watch the swing animation and look at how glitched it looks.

Also some of the pitching animations look really bad and have became worse since last year or were not fixed.

High frame rate mode is great though.

I may be alone in this but I think the ability to play seasons in retro mode would be kind of awesome. Probably not enough people would care for them to justify spending the time on that, and I can't even say that I wouldn't get bored of it, but I like the idea of it.

I was hoping morale would be tweaked this year.
Since most of the time I'm playing season mode instead of franchise, and I dont play more than a couple of seasons before I restart with another team, then real contracts make it better for me. probably wouldnt be too good in a full on franchise, 5 or 6 years down the road though.
Giving Donaldson $17 million doesnt put him in the "green" for the contract part of the morale (he expects 18.2 mill) but he isnt angry either so you get that 94. Looks like what he's most upset about is being so far away from home. I definitely couldnt play a season with him "only"
making the 8.9 Sony pays him. But for some reason his overall only fell to 92. You give him 17 mill and move him to atlanta that 94 becomes a 97 lol

I didn't get 16, so I'm coming from The Show 15, which I just played last night.

17 is like a completely different game. The visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is light years better than 15. I immediately put on the sliders by Armor, and the game is noticeably harder than it was for 15. I've only played RTTS so far.

Speaking of RTTS, I LOVE it! I love the new player creation system, as I feel you're truly able to create unique looking players. Also really the PYP system so far. I'm struggling with the new sliders and gameplay, but still having fun. So many times I'll get a hit and think it's a good one like it was in 15, but it's just a routine pop up in 17. The ball physics make a huge difference.

Absolutely love the game so far.

Love that the CPU makes better decisions with relievers, and they will bring in a Lefty to face a lefty in later innings.

Unfortunately the CPU still does make poor decisions on position players. As I was playing the Pirates, they brought in Allen Hanson to catch after he PH for the pitcher, and he isnt a C. I wondered why all of a sudden there catcher was letting balls get by him, and then I realized who was playing catcher for them,lol. It actually cost them the game, because I scored 2 runs in the 10 innings to beat them because of passed balls on the C.

Outside of that which I hope can be fixed in a patch, I have been very impressed with hwo the game looks and plays.

maybe plesac will grow on me but right now he dont do anything for me.
HR on the other hand, I immediately like, probably because I'm more familiar after listening to him for 20+ years.

I will keep it quick, I can't write as well as guys like Armor about how much I enjoy this game.

A.) Best intro move ever. Ever.

B.) HFR mode on Pro is a game changer. Silky smooth pure butter gameplay, holy cow. Feels like a new game.

C.) Auto-fielding and auto-baserunning seem better than ever, for those like me who like those options.

D.) retro camera for hitting, broadcast for everything else, and for me thats baseball heaven

3d Sound with the Sony Platinum Headset is awesome. I was at bat and heard a guy behind me and to the left yell "YO THIS GUY SWINGS AT EVERYTHING" lol I laughed
