audbal, I wish I could say the same. Lost a 2-1 game where the runner advanced to second and scored on a single in the next AB.

That sucks, I was feeling the same way. Weird that you are still experiencing this. Just played another game, still not seeing it.

Ball on bat sounds like I'm swinging with a bamboo stick. That needs re recording.

I will prob get killed for saying this but this year the hitting is awful and stale. I have been decent at hitting in every rendition of the Show and this year its just bad. The CPU pitchers (all who are essentially Sandy Koufax's) throw nothing but pinpoint pitches at the top or bottom of the strike zone and literally everything is either a chopper or a popup. If I do get hits they are usually singles but CHOPPERS! I want to roll out an award ceremony when I get a rare homer or extra base hit. '16 is far better sans the supposed hit variety and aesthetics of 17. Also, every game is a pitching duel, no variety in runs whatsoever. Seems like every game is 2-1 or 3-1. Highest I have scored in a game has been 5 runs, three times in 20 games in franchise. As always I am first in every pitching category and last in runs, rbis, and homers. Using Armor and Sword sliders which I use every year and have never seen such unrealistic hitting. Sad, I thought this was going to be the year the Show became a game changer. I thin it has taken a major step back.

This is completely contrary to what most of the people playing this game have been experiencing. I suggest you turn down the difficulty, or tweak sliders to fit you personally. I've played over 200 games of various modes and more often than not teams average about 8-12 hits each and 3-6 runs. I actually am having problems with hitting too many homeruns, not too few. The patch has helped that a bit though.

GoDuck1244 fair enough. I am curious what sliders you are using? I am open to any criticism and want to love this game, so I will try anything. My only problem is as soon as I tweak the sliders down then it does become the slugfest you refer to.

I used A&S's sliders for a bit and hit too many popups for my liking so I turned power down to 3 and solid hits up to 7, keeping everything else the same. Getting a pretty realistic cross-section of grounders and popups while keeping my hit average around 9 (HR totals are good, too). Now if I had a good hitter square up on a pitch right down the middle of the strike zone, he has a better opportunity to get a base hit than a weak infield popup (still get those too, though since it's a part of the sport). If you're hitting the ball too well, just turn solid hits down another click.

I had some similar frustrations right after getting the game, but as soon as I tinkered around with a few things (again, namely solid hits and power) the game felt just about perfect. No one plays the game exactly the same, so tinker to your liking and don't feel like you're cheating the computer or anything. Armor's set is an amazing base, just go from there and find out what works for you, man.

Thank you man! I actually changed my approach and tried not to stare at the pitcher as much to gauge speeds better. Had a few doubles and a nice Greg Bird dinger to right-center. Ill use your advice and thanks again. The Show is still the best sports game ever, sometimes we (I) are a bit spoiled by how good the game is.

Someone else already answered you with A&S's sliders. But I also use A&S's sliders. Slightly modified, with more solid hits. I do think default hall of fame is acceptable though.

So, is this game still catering to a couple of hundred hardcore sim players, where you can crank all player ratings and all the sliders up to 100 and yet it's still not easy to do anything in this game, or have they finally decided to make a game that everybody can enjoy?

I ask, because I played MLB the show 15 and while it was decent, it was still blatantly obvious who to that game catered to and that the sliders didn't work like nearly every single other sports game on the market.

Not totally sure what you mean. If you set the game on rookie and crank the sliders to "100" you should experience the arcadey game that you're looking for. Baseball is a pretty intricate sport and, yes, the developers are still catering to fans of the sport itself. It's certainly the closest to an accurate sim that we have on the sports gaming market and it's pretty incredible when you let yourself get immersed in the experience.

There's always other options if you're looking for a baseball game that's less deep like RBI Baseball.

                                Perfect.

If you up the attributes, sliders, play on 'beginner' and you still can't hit....it's you, not the game.
