Another one went for a double play and the 2nd basemen threw it in LF and they called it a Fielders Choice. Is there going to be a patch for this?

Actually, I think in official scoring if the 2nd basemen made the play @ 2d and threw wild to 1st, no error is charged. The ol' "can't assume a double play deal."

Just got a few questions, wondering about something.....

During franchise mode, can you edit the players attributes, contract details, age (basically everything) like you could in MLB2K15?

Also, can somebody just check and give me the starting budgets for the following teams......

      Washington Nationals
      Toronto Bluejays
      San Diego Padres
      Pittsburgh Pirates
      New York Mets
      New York Yankees

      Would really appreciate it

      Thanks

When I know that a player is coming up to bunt, what type of pitches, and location, should I be looking to throw? Or does it even really matter? Does placement of fielder's matter more than the pitch itself?

Ok. Franchise question. Sort of a baseball in general question.

When I'm in spring training, my whole 40 man roster is available. When I'm headed to reg season why does it take a player option to move my guys to triple A? I always assumed this would apply to reg season only. I have a Reds franchise and my team really sucks. I hate that my guys will be out of options so soon. Hard to build anything without playing some young guys. The 40 man comes up at the end of the year too. I'm gonna be paying so much salary next year. What's the fix for this?
          Thanks.
          Ps. Love the game.

I can't give you the starting budgets, but you can edit all attributes and age. I'm not sure about contract details. You might only be able to do that in the main menu roster section and not within franchise.

Typically when I know a bunt is coming, I'll try to throw a pitch at the top of the strike zone and hope the bunter will pop up the bunt. Anecdotally, it seems to be fairly random, meaning that they will pop it up sometimes and not others, so I'm not sure if location actually makes a difference. Player positioning is a big factor in successfully defending a bunt, probably moreso than pitch type/location.

Players on the 40 man do use options when being moved to minor league rosters in spring training. The problem that The Show has it that it does not have non-roster invitees. Those players are able to participate in spring training with the MLB team, but aren't on the 40 man, so they don't use an option when they're inevitably moved to minor league camp.

There is no fix for it. You just have to be cautious with who you place on your 40 man each season. I typically wait until a prospect is within 1 year of a realistic shot at making my MLB roster before I'll put him on the 40 man roster. That way, I can get a look at him in Spring Training, and if I need to option him to AAA/AA I still have 2 years of options to use on him.

One thing to note, I'm not sure if you know this, but the 3 options are 3 years worth. So once you move a player down to the minors and it uses an option, you can move him up and down freely during that season without using more options. That move uses 1 year of his 3 option years. It doesn't mean that you can only move him on and off the 25 man roster 3 total times.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Q&A

I posted this in the wrong thread earlier, but I was wondering if anyone's having issues with the Force Trade.

No matter what I do, I'm not able to get a trade to go through. I was trying to move Jeremy Jeffres to the Brewers (our bullpen is getting wrecked) and offered a C outfield prospect that pushed the blue bar in their favor. The line beneath the bar said they were definitely interested, but when I went to make the trade they said it was an interesting trade, but no one they wanted to make, or something to that affect.

              Am I missing something?

Do you have ignore budgets on or off? I might have to do some testing to try and replicate your issue.

I'm not big on the franchise aspect of baseball, but I have a triple a prospect I'm keeping my eye on and I see that he doesn't have any stats, despite being set in the lineup. Is this because I'm still in spring training? Once the regular season actually starts is that when it'll start showing his stats? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Yeah AAA doesn't start until the season does. He'll start accumulating stats then. Keep in mind that the player card ONLY shows MLB stats, so in order to see his stats you'll have to go to the stats tab in your franchise and use the right stick to shift to your AAA team.

Another question that may be silly, but what's the difference between the options of sending my player to my 40 man roster and the mlb roster?

A minor leaguer can be moved to the 40 man roster, saving them from the rule 5 draft and giving them the opportunity to be on an MLB roster. You can be on the 40 man and not on the MLB, but you can't be on the MLB if you're not on the 40 man. Removing someone from the 40 man roster can free up a spot for another player, which is important when good players run out of options and must be in the majors. There's a risk to removing a player from 40 man, as they must be DFA'd and thus sent through waivers. Depending on the player, this might not be smart.

So if I have a good prospect in triple a that I want to call up to the mlb in the near future, I would place him on my 40 man roster until I'm ready for the jump?

There's no need to put him on the 40 man roster until you need to call him up. The only reason you'd put him on immediately is if a rule 5 draft is about to happen (I don't even know if '17 has one - if not, then there's no need).

The bigger issue is with making sure you have a spot open for the player when it's time to call him up. Juggling the 40 man roster has more to do with securing veteran player rights than anything.

Yes, 17 does have a rule 5 draft, and you can see if a player is eligible on their player card. Keep in mind that the status can change right before the draft, so make sure to re-check in the early off-season to make sure all your prospects are protected.

To re-enforce what BillPeener said, putting a prospect on the 40 man will make them start to use up options. Therefore, you only want to put someone on the 40 man when either A) you want to (potentially) call them up to the MLB that year or B) they are eligible for the rule 5 draft but you want to protect them.

If the prospect doesn't fit either description, there is no reason to put him there. You don't need to have 40 men on your 40 man.
