Again, I'm only in mid/late May in my chise, so I probably wanna start banging out trades for these guys throughout June (well, maybe not Braun/Thames/Johnson/Doolittle trades) and then in July start doing bigger trades, like maybe Sonny Gray and some better guys from whatever teams fall out

What do you have in mind for Gray (and Archer, Quintana, Cole, everyone else)? There will be tons of starting pitching available!!

I don't even know where to start!

Okay, so I just finished the ASB. I'm gonna list the teams that are out of playoff contention, then list some guys who have at least SOME value and are playing at least good.

Here are the teams hosting their own personal fire sale:
Key - Name (WAR) (unless RP)(can post additional stats if needed)

      - Brewers (33-58): LF/RF Ryan Braun (1.1), SP/RP Matt Garza (0.9), UTL Jonathan Villar (0.7), 1B Eric Thames (0.6), 3B/1B Travis Shaw (0.3), RP
      Jared Hughes

      - Athletics (35-55): SP Sonny Gray (2.1), C/1B Stephen Vogt (2.0), OF Rajai Davis (1.7),P Kendall Graveman (1.6), INF Adam Rosales (1.5) INF Jed Lowrie (1.3), SP Jesse Hahn (1.3), 1B/3B/LF Mark Cahna (0.9), RP Santiago Casilla, RP Ryan Madson, CP Sean Doolittle (12 SV)

      - Padres (35-54): RP Ryan Buchter (1.4), UTL Yangervis Solarte (0.6), 1B Wil Myers(?)(1.5), CP Brandon Maurer (20 SV)

These teams are sellers, but not in 'sell everything mode' like the first three teams:

      - Diamondbacks (38-51): 1B Paul Goldschmidt (4.0), CF AJ Pollock (2.7), SP Shelby Miller & Patrick Corbin (1.0)

      - Phillies (38-50) SP Jeremy Hellickson (2.8), CF Odubel Herrera (2.7), SP Clay Buccholz (1.9), 2B/OF Howie Kendrick (1.5), 2B Cesar Hernandez (1.3) OF Michael Saunders (1.2),

      - Braves (38-50): CF Ender Inciarte (2.6), C Kurt Suzuki (2.0), OF Nick Markakis (1.7), 2B Brandon Phillips (1.4), OF Matt Kemp (1.2), SP Jaime Garcia (0.7), CP Jim Johnson (22 SV),

      - Orioles (38-50): 3B/SS Manny Machado (1.6), C Wellington Castillo (1.6), SP Chris Tilllman (1.3), CP Zach Britton (22 SV) SS JJ Hardy (1.3), CF Adam Jones (0.4),

      - White Sox (38-50): SP Jose Quintana (3.4), Miguel Gonzalez (1.4), CP David Robinson (23 SV), OF Melky Cabrera (1.0), 3B/1B Todd Frazier (1.0)

Sorry for the super long post, but if you guys could tell me who the most valuable players are, and what kind of hauls I could get, that would be amazing. I am ok with any reply, if i need to tell you a team that would be interested in a certain guy, I can give stats, etc.

I honestly dont even know. I decided to keep Archer and Cole on their teams because they're contending. The main guys in my chise are Gray & Quintana, then there's a HUGE fall off. Third best trade target is probably Jeremy Hellickson (PHI). I'm thinking about sending one of them to Colorado for sure. The other I'd probably send to either NYY, KC, MIN, or TEX. Quintana won't go to KC or Min and Gray won't go to TEX so idk. And that's just the starting pitching!

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

You need to focus on a few teams and a few big deals. You can't have a third of the league selling off at the same time. And many of the guys you've listed are bringing back C prospects in their mid-20's... most teams have plenty of that already.

You should target 4 win position players, front line pitchers and high end relievers. Let the CPU do the rest and reverse trades that seem weird.

Quintana and Gray are your most valuable guys and one will probably go to the Astros. I also think the Cubs will add, but they really want Archer who you aren't trading.

Look at the Cubs-Yankees trade from last year as a template but replace Torres with a less valuable headliner.

Garcia, Graveman, Hellickson and Buccholz are even less valuable than that, so think a B and C or less.

The Nats-White Sox deal was going to be Robertson for Luzardo and Ward so you can do that or use it as a template.

You could also use that trade as a base for a Doolittle deal, and Britton as well. Johnson and Maur are not as valuable as those other guys.

A few other guys that might get you a low B (Frazier, Markakis) but everyone else is either not getting traded (Machado, Goldschmidt, Inciarte) or not worth anything.

Also remember it's hard for smaller market teams to trade for big names so for the Rockies, Twins, Royals you should only send them players who are controllable.

Teams like the Cubs and Yankees can and will rent for one post season and sometimes teams like the Astros who would be considered a failure if they don't make it to the WS this year.

Yeah I didn't expect to trade every guy, I just wanted to get everyone on the selling teams out there and see who could get what. Thanks for helping me, man! I'm gonna look up some past trades in this thread with some of the guys I know are gonna be traded and do that. I'll probably post some of the higher-tier trades one I get to the deadline.

To be clear, we're all in agreement Quintana (let alone Quintana + Robertson as I would want to do) to the Yankees doesn't happen without Torres, correct? Trying to decide between going after Quintana at the deadline vs. maybe Gray before the season starts or whenever Oakland falls real hard out of it.

IRL I think the Sox missed Quintana at his highest. He's just been Ok in 2017.

I think the Sox would refuse to deal if Torres wasn't on the table; but I also think the Yankees would refuse to trade him so IMO it doesn't happen.

Are you in 2017 now and competing or are you looking to contend in 2018?

Haven't started my franchise yet, still waiting on the Hybrid 2.0 to drop. Just trying to think ahead as I scout my plan. Could trade for Gray before my season starts, a winter trade if you will. I'm not going to trade Torres, so I've written Quintana and Cole off.

Looking at my roster, I imagine a starter plus maybe a reliever will be something I'll need to scout and plan for. Gray + Coulombe could be a nice pick-up, though holding off and trying to make things work with the kids is on the table too, I'm an Adams and Montgomery fan, might move CC to the bullpen if he struggles and roll the dice with them. Waiting for the roster is killing me, so thinking about my game plan and trying to think things through is keeping me relatively sane.

As soon as the v1.2 came out I was on it. No way could I have waiting this long. I'm doing SotS and some equipment edits as I go and editing breakouts and failures whenever I need to.

I Was under the impression 2.0 had hit a roadblock... are they past it?

Ok so I'm having trouble finding values for certain players. I'll list some players, their stat lines, and teams that would be interested in them. Hopefully someone could give me a couple packages for at least some of the players I list. If you think a different team would be interested in the player along with the ones I listed let me know. Pick apart one guy and help me make a deal, make a couple offers for different guys, anything helps! Sorry for clogging the thread with long posts, this will be the last one.

                              Here's a shorter post lol.

Does Todd Frazier to the Red Sox for SP Trey Ball and 3B/SS Michael Chavis work? Red Sox need a 3B.

Also, what about Zach Britton to Washington for RP Koda Glover and 3B Drew Ward?

With years like that they won't even get that much. They have negative value in that situation.
