Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Ok, so since I made some posts a little while back about buying, my Red Sox have fallen to 5.0 GB in the East, and 2.0 GB in the Wild Card, so I'm looking at probably selling a little. What, if anything, could I get for these guys...

    SP Rick Porcello (FA after 2019) - 7-7, 128.1 IP, 86 K, 2 BB, 3.72 ERA, 1.07 WHIP
Potential Suitors: TOR, SEA, HOU, PHI, PIT

    SP Drew Pomeranz (FA after 2018) - 7-5, 103.1 IP, 76 K, 8 BB, 1.74 ERA, 0.94 WHIP
Potential Suitors: TB, TOR, SEA, HOU, MIA, PHI, PIT, SF

    RP Fernando Abad (FA after 2017) - 1-0, 15.1 IP, 7 K, 4 BB, 2.93 ERA, 1.11 WHIP
Potential Suitors: TOR, SEA, HOU, MIA, CHC, PIT, STL, SF

    RP Joe Kelly (FA after 2018) - 3-2, 1 SV, 45.1 IP, 35 K, 5 BB, 2.78 ERA, 0.99 WHIP
Potential Suitors: TOR, CLE, HOU, PHI, CHC, PIT, STL, LAD, SF

    C Sandy Leon (FA after 2019) - 174 AB, 13 R, 1 HR, 10 RBI, 0 SB, .241 AVG
Potential Suitors: SEA, WAS, NYM, PHI, CHC

    1B/DH Hanley Ramirez (FA after 2019) - 347 AB, 46 R, 17 HR, 52 RBI, 0 SB, .268 AVG
    Potential Suitors: HOU, SEA, NYM

    1B/LF Mitch Moreland (FA after 2017) - 260 AB, 44 R, 23 HR, 41 RBI, 0 SB, .285 AVG

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm trying to keep the real life top 10 prospects in tact for the pirates unless it is for a long term player or they are over 24 years old AND under 65 overall. My plan for the team is to sign Bell, Cutch, Harrison, Taillon, Mercer, Cervelli, Rivero long term. Other than that I am open to trading most players for the right price.

I am pleased with my lineup and bench although i might look to add another veteran (not Gosselin) bench player at 3B/OF cause i will sit Marte in postseason if i make it. Even though Marinez is 55overall I seem to pitch very well with him but if Cole doesn't turn it around by July (4.30-4.50era) or the back of my rotation falters I would like to pick up some rotation depth 3rd-5th starter and a bullpen arm. I may look to trade Watson/Cole but what can I get for them? I know this isn't the trade forum but that one is so cluttered and a bunch of stuff gets lost. I have 30 team control but only use the pirates, i let the CPU make their own trades/roster moves. I would obviously trade Cole to a contender regardless but I would like to get a starter with less than 2-3 years of service time. Dodgers offered both Maeda/Ryu and Maeda/Baez for Cole/Bastardo but i figured that wasn't very realistic but maybe Cole/Maeda+prospect. I'm willing to dump Bastardo for very little so I would have enough money to go after a Hamels type lefty starter. My rotation is all righties.

At the deadline I will make trades they make in real life that is the reason I have 30 team control or at least make real life type moves for teams in contention

I was looking at Nathan Eovaldi/Homer Bailey as possible rotation upgrades and the Padres bullpen

        potential SP (lefties)
        Danny Duffy (KC)
        Jason Vargas (KC)
        Tyler Anderson (COL)
        Daniel Norris (DET)
        Robbie Erlin (SD)
        Christian Friedrich (SD)
        Adam Conley (MIA)
        Gio Gonzalez (WSH)
        Wei-Yin Chen (MIA)
        Andrew Heaney (LAA)
        J.A. Happ (TOR)
        Wade Miley (BAL)
        Roenis Elias (BOS-AAA)
        Brett Anderson (CHC)
        Drew Pomeranz (BOS)

Update: 30-25 1st in NL Central, tied with the Cubs. My lineup is doing fantastic so i'm only worried about my pitching situation.

        Rotation:
        Cole - 3.82ERA
        Nova - 1.75ERA
        Taillon - 2.64ERA
        Kuhl - 3.75ERA
        Williams - 7.06ERA

        Bullpen:
        Shugel - 3.20ERA
        LeBlanc - 1.57ERA
        Nicasio - 6.06ERA
        Marinez - 3.24ERA
        Watson - 2.02ERA
        Hudson - 4.32ERA
        Rivero - 1.47ERA 19SV

I think I will drop Williams from the rotation and into the bullpen and trade Nicasio and trade for a lefty starter. Out of the list above what would be the best option?

The teams out of contention are (6GB+): Twins, Astros, Angels, Padres (worst in MLB 19-37)

Scott Kazmir was on the trade block and they would accept this offer:

        RP Bastardo (another bullpen arm)
        SP Kingham (b potential prospect)
3B Mathisen (c potential) is that fair?

I'll wait until end of june/july to make the trade. Also looking into relief help such as Kris Medlen, something cheap.

What trades would you suggest? Where can I improve?
        I drafted an A potential 74ovr 2B too
I've decided to look at bench options other than Elias Diaz as 3rd catcher. I want a lefty power bat. I was thinking either

        2B/3B Ryan Schimpf from SD (82 power v R) .223/8/27 OBP .338 (1.002 MLB Service)
OF Melky Cabrera from CWS as a 4th OF (80con v R and 48 power) .259/5/18 .319OBP (FA after season)
OF Colby Rasmus from TB (75 power v R) he's only hitting .230/2/11 OBP .319 (FA after season)
OF Ben Revere from LAA .318/2/20 .371OBP (FA after the season)
IF Yunel Escobar from LAA .278/3/10 .360OBP (FA after the season)
SS Erick Aybar from SD .256/2/16 .286OBP (FA after this season)
IF/OF Yangervis Solarte .217/0/6 .273OBP (signed for this year/next year and then an ARB year)

Looking into bringing cespedes to Seattle for a playoff gear up also trying to bring in either Adam jones or Carlos Gomez for some center field depth/upgrade and ideas what it would take to get these guys? Thanks in advance for anyone who would like to chime in

I traded 2 C prospects and a B prospect for Jabari Blash from SD, he was in AAA to play on the bench. Its towards the end of June and figured I'd experiment with him when i put Polanco on the DL. Any recommendations for bullpen/rotation upgrades?

Show-wise, what trade makes the most sense for the Dodgers (using OSFM rosters)
Sonny Gray Verlander or Darvish? or are you going to have to give up basically the same prospects no matter which of the 3 you go after?

I think you can give up less for Verlander if you're taking on his contract. If you go for Gray or Darvish, you're going to have to give up a top prospect or two

Candelario is going to be an every day MLB player and Paredes is rated above Candelario on some sites. Cubs consider him to be the best short stop in their system. Not potentially the best, but the best now. And he's only 18.

Tigers traded a rental back up catcher and a bullpen arm that won't be cheap in 2018 as Wilson accumulated saves for the Tigers, thus increasing his arb salary potential.

Not a bad trade for either team... but I don't understand why people were expecting a "Chapman-like" return for Wilson.

Dont knkw much about Paredes. So thats on me. But unless that player to be named later isnt Alex Lange, not a win for the tigers and i like candelario. They trade JD, JWil and Avila for 5 infielders. Id have taken Eddy Martinez and Candelario and been good. Need outfielders and pitchers.

Fair enough. The Martinez trade was weird, I'll give you that.

The argument could be made that the Tigers should have (could have) put more pressure on the Cubs. Wilson effectively gives the Cubs another starting pitcher option for 2018 in Mike Montgomery, not to mention being their best LH reliever. They were no where close to getting a controllable starter so this was gonna be the last deal they made.

But I've read that there were expectations of a huge return on Wilson and I just don't think that's realistic. His numbers aren't amazing... his k/9 is up but at the same so are his bb/9 and hr/9.

I wonder if they'd think about putting Castellanos back in the corner OF now that they have Candelario since DH and 1B are kinda full. Maybe not the worst idea considering they put Castellanos in the OF when they had Prince and Miggy and he's not a very good defender at third.

In my mind, they move Castellanos to first base. His glove is bad at third amd heard it was the same in the outfield. 1st is probably next position then Miggy goes to DH
