Here's a thought: Cleveland could be a fit for Pillar (moving Zimmer to RF, Lonnie to bench) and has young 2B/SS Erik Gonzalez and could add Mike Clevinger. Both MLB ready and sort of expendable for them. You could also take Yandy Diaz instead of Gonzalez. Beau Burrows and Dixon Machado from DET isn't quite as good, but they desperately need a CF so they'd be a fit. Houston might be your best bet with David Paulino and Tony Kemp, or maybe drop it to Brady Rodgers and take Marisnick back if you want. TEX could give Andy Ibanez and one of Ariel Jurado, Joe Palumbo, or Connor Sadzeck and then put Gomez in LF and DH Choo. WSH if Eaton is hurt, or they could push him to LF in the offseason and and add Pillar in CF. Target Wilmer Difo at 2B and Austin Voth from them. COL could give Hampson/Wall and someone like Senzatela, Castellani, Marquez, or Almonte with Blackmon in LF. Finally, maybe SFG with Span in LF. Could look like Arroyo plus Stratton/Blach or CJ Hinojosa plus Beede.

Any thoughts on a trade for Cole Hamels in the 2018 off season to the Blue Jays?

Rangers haven't made an significant off season signings and Hamels ERA in 2017 was 4.37.

I was thinking Happ or Estrada + Lourdes Gurriel and Sean Reid Foley but maybe 3 prospects would make more sense for them? The only top 50 prospects I have are Vlad Jr and Bo Bichette.

      Thanks.

I don't think they'd want to make that move. I'm not sure it makes sense from their perspective to downgrade their rotation if they're trying to win, especially since they're fringe contenders anyway, and if they want to rebuild then they'd have no use for shorter term, older SP than Hamels. I think they only way they trade Hamels is for prospects or controllable young mlb talent rather than chipping away at the long term return with short term assets.

Wow, that is an amazing response as I was just about to type the list of contenders/teams needing CF. I came up with a list of the Indians, Tigers, Giants and Cardinals who needed a CF. However, due to Pillar's controllability he will be appealing to a rebuilder as well who might want an anchor defensively in CF. I will have a look at all of these deals and pick the one that works best! Thanks!

Ok, one more on the Nats trade, could I add Koda Glover, or sub out Martin for him. I know he's a B potential and only 23, but he's struggled this season, both in-game and real life, and hasn't progressed at all. Remember, Pomeranz is one of the best pitchers in baseball (in-game) right now (3.1 WAR, 7-6, 1.88 ERA, 105.1 IP, 77 K, 8 BB, 0.96 WHIP)

            In-game stats:
            MLB - 0-2, 8 G, 7.2 IP, 7 K, 11 BB, 10.57 ERA
            AAA - 2-1, 19 G, 26.2 IP, 22 K, 13 BB, 5.40 ERA

I can toss in another lower prospect like Ty Buttrey to even it out if that works.

Or if this trade is set as is, I could do a separate deal with the Nats, maybe Holt who has 2 more years of control for Glover, right now Stephen Drew and Grant Green are their backup infielders batting .200.

I say bump Workman to Kelly and you can do Glover rather than Martin.

Still early in my jays franchise but looking at a player who is struggling mightily through the first month of ball and someone I would be interested in adding around the deadline is Villar. Was wondering what the price on him would be the brewers through the first month are the worst team in baseball he is hitting a measly 97. That may change in the next month or two before as im only a month in obviously but just looking to gauge his value before i swing something here soon. My thinking is for the Jays he brings positional versatility which is something Shapiro and atkins value but also most needed for the jays he brings speed. I would move bautista to the bench as my fourth oufielder and play him in left or right along side pillar and pearce. I like the fact that he can also field multiple infield positions. For the brewers the seem so far away that getting prospects back for a guy who is due money and is struggling for them makes a lot of sense.

No problem! Cards you could look for Jack Flaherty and Eliezer Alvarez as your top targets.

I suppose they might want to move the money but I doubt they'd sell that low on Villar. They'd more likely hold and hope he regains significant value unless you overpay for him.

Would something like bichette+Harris or Alford+Zeuch get me there in terms of value? could also throw in either tellez or pentecost into either deal if it needs more

Wanting to start a realistic Mariners Franchise

I dont think I want to rebuild as the roster is set to contend

I need at least one more solid outfielder, any ideas?

I think Alford, Zeuch, and Pentecost is fair if Texas is rebuilding. Otherwise, they aren't trading Hamels, especially to an AL contender

I think that's too much for Texas to give up. I don't think they're trading Ragans in any deal this year, plus that's a lot of prospect value for two guys who've each had one good year, especially with Profar added. Also, I don't get why TEX would give up all that for Villar? He's good and all, but they're pretty set up the middle. Ik you mentioned not really caring about if it's realistic, but Villar would be less valuable for them bc he'd be a bench player.

I think he meant for Villar. I probably wouldn't give up Bichette or Alford for Villar but adding one of them and I don't think they can say no. Pentcost and another B pitcher might get it done. Could even throw a low C as well. I'm not the best at gauging value and I am biased so you might want someone else's opinion.

Yeah that was my bad, I thought I was still replying to the guy trying to get Hamels for Estrada +. I've been looking for Villar comps and the best one is the Michael Bourn deal from a few years ago. For the Jays, Dalton Pompey could make sense as a centerpiece in place of Jordan Schafer as a toolsy former top prospect who's lost shine and could fit if MIL moves Braun. Toss in a couple C pitching prospects and I'd call it fair.
