Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, except Archer has 5 cheap years and is arguably as good as Quintana. So it would take that as a baseline plus a little more for the extra cheap year. I think the offer I was initially thinking was Albies (11th), Allard (41st), Anderson (54th) & Pache (Just outside top 100). I used the Fangraphs Top-100 for those rankings.Comment

Cheap for the remainder of this year and 4 more. Plus, he had a down year last year. I actually think the Rays will be solid this year so trade talk for Archer is sort of moot.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hi dudes. Cool thread. Never much wandered these parts bc I've always kept my roster 1:1 with the real club (Tigers). But for this year I want Cameron Maybin back, and I want Rajai Davis back.
What's legit? Thanks.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I am playing the Cubs franchise and I'm torn between making deals that I like or keeping it more real. I really like Chris Archer and the Rays are willing to move him for Eloy Martinez, and two medium prospects. But when I trade him he's very unhappy cause of the rotation spot cause he would be the 3rd or 4th pitcher on the Cubs. And I'm worried that I will have too powerful of a team and win the division very easily and become bored. Does anyone worry about that?Follow me on Twitch

Honestly though, since you can only trade up to 3 players at a time, it would have to be Jimenez, Happ and then a medium prospect. You'd be getting 5 years of a cheap front of the rotation arm so it's worth it.Last edited by The Left Shark; 04-06-2017, 10:29 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
That is a good idea. No I haven't extended Arrieta yet. I'm only in 10 games in the season (I play every game). I'm assuming we can't extend contracts during the season still right?Follow me on Twitch

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
That's right you can't. That way you also try to repeat with a rotation of Lester, Arrieta, Archer, Lackey and Hendricks (wow) and you can make it a bit more challenging and letting 2 of those guys walk in the off-season.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Well you could do the deal, let Arrieta walk for more money (unless you signed him to an extension already, I don't know the specifics) and then let Lackey walk/retire after the season. Then your first 3 for next season would be Lester, Archer, Hendricks. And then I guess a combo of Montgomery, Butler, pitching prospects who names I forget, or another trade acquisition with your young bats in the last 2 spots.

Cease and Underwood would be their two top pitching prospects currently, if you don't count Eddie Butler who they just acquired. I think they would be more willing to move away from young position players than include those guys in any deals, just due to the impending loss of Arrieta and Lackey in the near future.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah that's what I've done as well. Trade some upper 20's year old RP with D potential and rated low for more prospects.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thank you guys. Brett Anderson is my 5th starter and he would probably be moved to the bullpen to be a long man. The Rays would do Martinez, Happ, and a prospect or even Brett Anderson.Follow me on Twitch

Were you referring to Eloy Jimenez or Eddy Julio Martinez?Comment

I did the trade search where you put the players you want to trade and gives you all the team's offers. Toronto was willing to give up Roberto Osuna and Aaron Sanchez for that same offer.Follow me on Twitch
