This Bolsters Astros Staff and get a few prospects to make a push since their a couple pieces away and would have a pitching staff of Tanaka, Keuchel, Pineda, Morton and Musgrove while Green can help right away for SP depth and good bullpen peice. I realized the astros werent getting enough in the previous deal so this should give them a good WS push such as the cubs did. Then the Indians can do what they do best and that is to get SP with alot of team control and another piece to their bullpen and with this trade you could see a Astros-Indians ALCS with HUGE SP matchups
If Tanaka and Pineda aren't good enough for the Yankees why would they be good enough for the Astros who are a better team? This three team trade where you give up extra pieces and get the best player in the deal (Carassco) isn't going to work

They are good enough for the Yankees but the difference is the Yankees are in rebuild mode and know they are not winning a WS but they are good pieces for a team that is in win now mode

To get surplus value it is basically

WAR x Value of WAR - Contract Cost= Surplus Value.

To get Carassco you need to give up your better prospects, not your old players. Name one deal that has happened that looks like what you proposed

                    Dont these values seem low?
                    http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/valui...100-prospects/

I mean Heaney doing the math has the same value as any prospect other than Moncada?

The math must be wrong then. Heaney isn't super valuable with his past TJS and all of that. There basically no way he's worth the number you listed

Carassco has been better than Tanaka and is owed less through 2019 before the option years hit ($19 million over 3 years) than Tanaka is for 2017 ($22 million)

Basically he's worth a lot more alone than Tanaka

two years of team control= 500k/year= million
three years of arbitration= (guessed 17 million total for 3 years) for a total of 18 million.
1.6 WAR in 2015 and didnt pitch in 2016 so I took
                            2017- 1.85
                            2018-2.1
                            2019- 2.35
                            2020- 2.35
                            2021-2.35
                            Total of 11 WAR

                            11 x 9 - 18 = 81

Did I mess up somewhere? Should I have taken last year into account and instead of starting with a base WAR of 1.6 start at around 0.8?
If I do the 0.8 then i get a surplus of around 41 mill

You're assuming he's going to pitch better than he did 2 years ago before he missed an entire season with injury. Realistically, players recovering from injury have very dubious value until they prove they actually have recovered imo

I'm starting a franchise this weekend when ossify drops with my white sox. Looking to trade Q for a outfield prospect as we are thin there. Is there realistic trades centered around Q for meadows, Q for robles or Q for Rutherford/frazier as those teams could trade for him, if so what are some realistic trades. Thanks in advance.
