Britton is worth what Miller got last year if you deal him at the deadline. Machado is worth a fortune. Think the Adam Eaton package, but a little stronger. Tillman couldn't get you any A prospects but maybe a couple B guys.

Bet the Braves would give you anyone but Swanson for Machado. Like Albies plus Allard plus Acuna but it may even take more than that

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm so glad I left before this Trout nonsense got started. We went through a little of this a week ago but I'll summarize for those that don't want to search the thread...

There is no "fair" trade value for Trout. No need to discuss that any further. I'm willing to listen (I have time today) if you disagree and since its early in the year, we won't be taking space away from others that have legitimate trade questions.

The league has shown us that the 'untouchable' player does not exist. Everyone can be had. But there are 2 sides to every trade and we seem to have forgotten about the nasty no-trade clause. Trade discussions should not even begin to take place until the market for his extension (that will have to be guaranteed) is set after the FA '18 class gets paid. At that time, he will have 2/66 left on his deal. He will provide the Angels with 2-3 teams that he wishes to play for and then negotiations will begin (unless he simply decides he loves LA). The package will not gut the team he is going to and we will all laugh at the Angels for how badly they got hosed. Griffey Jr. trade will be the comp.

As everyone payed money for the game and its supposed to be fun, if you want Trout, push the button and he'll be on your team. That (in my opinion) is not the purpose of this thread. Here we try to give fair value and somewhat logical trades. That simply does not exist for Mr. Trout.

Lets spend some time and get this out of our system so we can move on and enjoy the RPG element this type of debate adds to the game. Babybombers, your up at the mic if you would like.

We say the same thing every year that their is no fair trade for a big player and then in real life something happens that shakes all of our heads like the Sale deal. Anything is possible

So the cubs cant catch a break with their bullpen. Davis is out for the season and Rondon is out until end of sept. What is the best return I could get from cubs. Obviously they are in the playoff hunt with a record of 54-24

I dont disagree with you at all. There will be no trade that will look good for the angels for trout because no team will gut their future for him. I just didnt know what my options were and if the angels would be willing to start their rebuild now instead of 2-4 years from now because he is literally their only player with any value what so ever. If I am an angels fan I think they know that is their only legitimate chance of a rebuild and unfortunately the Angels will never win anything with Trout because their roster, farm system and contracts all are at the bottom of the league.

Ian Happ. They wouldn't give you Eloy Jimenez, but I'm sure they would be willing to give up Happ for another ring.

Feels about right. Mejia is a #4/5 type and Chirinos is a fringy starter or backup type catcher.

Which is why I asked the question. nothing will ever be fair for trout period. Im looking at it as that is their only possible way to rebuild. Every Angels post that asks about what players value is has been no value what so ever other than trout and the Angels know this so i was just curious at what was a good return for the angels to start their rebuild now instead of later because no team will gut their future for one player no matter the player and if you question that for a second you need to go back into history and look at the griffey deal

Since they are in dire need could I get Cease thrown in on the deal kind of like McKinney was last year because the Yankees held all the chips?

No reason to try to put lipstick on a pig. You were asking to see if you could get approval to rip off the Angels for Trout.

I think you need to take a second and look at the Griffey deal. He was in his last year. He didn't have 4 YEARS OF TEAM CONTROL LEFT. And the Mariners still got a package of 4 players headlined by Mike Cameron who accrued over 50 WAR in his career.

Lets just move on from this topic.

If I were looking to rip off the Angels I wouldnt have even asked. I dont need permission so why would I ask to rip off a team. The point is that I dont want to rip off teams. Just like I never made the Yelich trade we talked so much about. Would I have loved to have Yelich sure but I couldnt do it because of the thread so dont act like you know why i asked because you are misinformed obviously. Also the Mariners were a WINNING team without Griffey so why would they try to start to rebuild early. Those are two completely different team situations. The Mariners had young up and coming talent to help them win while the Angels like I said are in the bottom of the league in Roster, Farm System and bad contracts.

Let us know who's contending and if any of them have an injury in the OF or a gaping hole out there. That will help a lot. Nats we're a good target before Eaton
