Haha! Died when I read that.

On topic though, LAA has been in contention in all three of my franchises. Definitely a more competitive team than some like to credit. Which pains me to say as a Ranger fan.

What would it take to bring Rusney Castillo to Oakland? A few weeks into the season he's hitting .308/.341/.410, 0 HR, 5 RBI in AAA

Looking to ship Adam Conley out of Miami. In year 2 of my franchise and signed Cashner and Nate Karns to short term deals in FA. Have Otani ready after a full year in the minors, so I have no use for Conley and his rating is suffering in the minors. His OVR is 72 with C potential and a ton of team control left. Would be looking for lower end MLB ready bullpen pieces or future pen pieces. Any good ideas?

After preaching on my soapbox about how the Angels are not as bad as they seem at first glance, I decided to tackle them instead of the A's (I'll get to the A's later as I'm a Gator and want to develop Puk into the Ace form he deserves). So I loaded up a OSFM 40 man roster (this is important later), signed Pap for the bullpen (and Otani with the self imposed restriction to leave him in AAA for '17) and off to play ball I went. Through 18 games we're playing fine baseball and in 2nd place in the AL West, 2 games out of 1st with 18 games played in total (this puts the calendar at 4/22). However, I have a glaring hole at C. Perez is hitting a crispy 143/192/163 in 15g with 49AB. Maldonado is faring much better at 357/400/500 but that is a 15AB sample size and he has a 35 contract R (which means he only plays vs. lefties with a 47 contact L). Those numbers will certainly come back down to earth.

I would very much like to bring D. Norris (TB) back to the AL West as he knows the division, has a much better fielding rating than Maldonado (54 vs. 67) and will hit lefties very well (71 contact L...45 contact R). He has 1 year of ARB left but his current line is 200/200/400 with 15AB through 18 games (again, not enough sample to get a decent value). The reason the 40 man OSFM roster is important is because it made Ramos healthy and he is starting for the Rays. They carry 3 catchers with Casali being the 3rd (no AB's at this point of the season).

I made a mistake with the roster but will not put in the extra couple of hours to start a franchise on a 25 man roster until the Hybrid team releases a roster (not a negative to OSFM as they are beautiful and very well done, I just sim more with a franchise I will get "lost" in and Hybrid numbers have given me better results in the past in that scenario).

All this being said, as I would normally do a smaller"ish" trade like this on my own, D. Norris (with a contact L like that) will be a player I recommend to others as the season drags on and would like to get a consensus on his value, albeit with a minor sample size. If I wait until mid-late May as I usually would, it may be too late with a this type of team.

I have a plethora of fine C POT SP's on the farm, would 2 of them be enough to entice TB to give me their backup C? I'm willing to pay full price as my current sample size does nothing to indicate value but would like it to be fair so when I recommend D. Norris to a franchise owner, I can do it with a good value rather than what I did to help myself.

So...that's what...500+ words on a D. Norris trade? See Mr. Serendipity, you're not the only "wordy" fella around!
          Large post gets short response!

Norris was dealt for a 20 year old lotto pitcher...Then was DFA'd after Wieters signed (stupid)...So I think a young lottery type (C potential) will easily get it done.

He is in the minors, and you have zero use for him...Why would anyone else? Just due to him having team control you might get a C or two low end minor Leaguers back. Nothing special with his value at an all-time low.

Due to his contract the Red Sox would love for you to have him. He is not on the 40-man due to not wanting him to count towards luxury tax, so if the Sox did somehow find a taker they would take a lotto (at best) prospect. So a mid 20's "prospect" D potential, if you're feeling generous a low C.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Hey all I'm with the blue jays in my franchise and like most I'm looking for a everyday left fielder who preferably bats left handed. Currently in mid May. Here are some guys that I like-

            Nick Markakis
            Corey Dickerson
            Adam Duvall
            Juan Lagares
            Joc Pederson
            Kyle Schwarber

I know that the last two on the list are probably extremely hard to get with the jays farm but it could be possible.
            Pederson- .210 AVG 7 HR 16 RBI
            Schwarber- .274 AVG 3 HR 9 RBI

Nick Markakis is a guy that I actually like. He bats left, makes contact, doesn't strikeout a lot and is a great defender. He just seems like a good fit that wouldn't cost that much because of his contract. Stats- .319 AVG 6 HR 21 RBI

Adam Duvall and Corey Dickerson both interest me because of their power. They aren't the greatest fielders but their offence would be the most important.
            Duvall- .238 AVG 9 HR 23 RBI
            Dickerson- .270 AVG 6 HR 24 RBI

Juan lagares probably wouldn't cost that much and the mets have a ton of outfielders. He got decent speed, good hitting and amazing defending.
Stats- .263 AVG 2 HR 8 RBI in 24 games

So I guess I would just like to know the prices of the guys that I listed above. If they are any other guys I should take a peek at let me know as well.

            Thank you!

Nick Markakis is roughly -18 million in value..So he wouldn't cost much of anything at all.

Corey Dickerson will cost an in-division fee. Though, his surplus isn't all that high either. It would take probably two C's that are young.

Duvall would likely cost a B, he is a bit harder to gauge, but the Reds would likely just keep him if they couldn't get that...If not more...He isn't worth it.

Juan Lagares is really only defense, and would cost as much as Markakis, about nothing.

Let's pretend Boston is going to pay part of his contract, so what's fair value for Castillo + cash?

Edit: I DFA'd Axford when he came off the DL (no room in the pen), Boston could use him (currently have 3 relievers with lower OVR on MLB roster)

Is Axford+ mid C prospect for Castillo + (hypothetical) cash a fair deal?

Honestly, if the Sox need him in your game, Axford for Castillo straight works. I can't in good mind say add a spec as well.

At the All Star break in my Royals franchise. Currently sitting 20 games under .500 and ready to finally blow it all up. Looking to trade

                    Hosmer (.277/.323/.467 with 14 HR)
                    Cain (.283/.332/.421 with 9 HR)
                    Escobar (.271/.316/.371)
Ian Kennedy (4-4 with a 3.62 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 103 SO in 102 IP)
Travis Wood (4-4 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 57 SO in 57.2 IP)

Contending teams Hosmer would fit with - Astros, Blue Jays and Nationals
                    Spoiler

Contending teams Cain would fit with Giants, Mets, Dodgers, Rangers
                    Spoiler

Contending teams Alcides Escobar would fit with Diamondbacks, Rockies.
                    Spoiler

Contending teams Ian Kennedy would fit with Angels, Blue Jays, Rangers, Orioles, Cardinals, Rockies
                    Spoiler

Travis Wood could be added to a deal with just about all of those teams.

Basically just want to know how much you guys think they are worth.

What would it cost for Spengeberg or Perez?

Agree Markakis could be had for a vat of the finest pin tar and Duvall is one of those players that the Reds will most likely hang on to if not for anything else other than to try and build more value (though I could also see him playing there for a long time too).

I'm a little higher on Dickerson. We're not guessing on him anymore, he's shown he can play in the Show (no pun intended) in the NL or AL. While he did have a down year last year, he changed leagues and that BABIP of .285 will come up. I have him in the B/C+/C+ range and simply fitting those values into the buying club farm system. We came up with D. Deshields/J. Palumbo/M. Deleon from the Ranger system the other day and that felt right. Trying to keep in mind what a value would have been on J. McGee if he wasn't swapped in the original deal.
This also comes from someone that makes 15-20 TB games a year and has gotten a couple of handshakes outside the park from Dickerson. The guys arms are as big as my legs, physical specimen that can rake. I could have a little bias.

Agreed. As much as I'd like to stay away from Castillo, I think he's going to be a popular ask this year. The only way he moves is with a huge check from the Red Sox which gets them a return of "that guy" and a PTBNL. Given the current Marlins situation, if he can hit just a little bit, they need to sell some tickets and given his ethnicity, would be a good fit in that market.

Travis Wood could be added to a deal with just about all of those teams.

Basically just want to know how much you guys think they are worth.
Last but not least! I remember you and your Royals franchises from years past and one has to admire a true fan coming back year after year (as a lifelong O's fan, I empathize). Let's talk about what you have this year...

Hosmer - HOU has AJ Reed beating down the door, I just don't see them in the Hosmer market. WAS is in a similar position though sit at the other side of the spectrum with Zimmerman. That leaves TOR and with Tulo and Donaldson along with what it will cost to get Hosmer (and then resign as why would they spend that capital and not reinvest?), I don't see it.
We did a deal with the Rangers for J.Profar/R.Guzman/M.Smoral the other day and I think that deal is a win for both teams. Sounds like it may fit in your franchise as well.

Escobar - Again, with the teams you've given, I don't see a fit. On top of that, are you really (I mean really) sure you want to part with him? He will be afforadable for the Royals next year and watching Mondesi play the other day, that's a middle IF combination you can pencil in every day next year. Otherwise, he's a gold glove type SS that is a rental. I think his best value is with the Royals. We can kick it around some more once we settle out these other deals.

Kennedy - I think you've got his value a little too high with the names you're interested in. This may be a good time to talk about a T. Wood throw in but unless you're going to take the mound personally, haven't you run out of arms that fans would pay to see play? ATL got away with it because they were building for a new ball park, what is KC doing?
He can be traded and you will get a piece for him but he's got to run 2+ WAR for that contract to make sense (and KC is not giving any money to go with him) so lowing the target range makes sense here.
I'll give you a personal offer though. T. Mancini (BAL) straight up. BAL needs rotation help and has U. Jimenez coming off the books next year. Mancini doesn't have a home and can play 1B tomorrow if you trade Hosmer.

Cain - requires more research than I had time between cups of coffee. If nobody gets back to you by lunch today, I'll chime back in and see if we can work something out.

Good luck sir...you're gonna need it!

On Cain...how does everyone feel about T. Beede + S. Duggar? Cain comes with lots of positives but is beginning to show injury concerns as he passes 30. SF will never have much of a farm because they are competitive almost every year. They can pay Cain next year and not have to worry about CF for 2-3 years (provided he doesn't break down).

In my franchise the Phillies traded Micky Moniak to the Cubs for Addison Russell. Should I reverse it or let it play out?
