Matching it is only part of the problem though most of those teams either A couldn't take on the other contracts the Angels would have to get rid of now if they wanted to deal Trout now. Or B actually put themselves in a worse spot than the Angels are in now.

They can match it but what else? And a Red Sox trade starts with Mookie not Benintendi.

How can you say that about the Red Sox. Mookie is at least twice as good as Sanchez and you don't think he has to be in this hypo

Why do the Angels need to rid themselves of these deals? Street is making $9 million and is done after 2017. The Hamilton money moves after 2017. LA is a really big market. They can handle big time salary.

They don't need to. But I think everyone is arguing the wrong part of this trade. The question wasn't would the Angels want to trade Trout. The situation was proposed that the Angels have decided to go ahead and move on from Trout.

If you keep that in mind, it makes no sense not to also rid yourself of those contacts maybe not Street but I'm specifically talking about Hamilton and Pujols. We've already established that they can't get even value for Trout because it's really just not out there, so this just makes it a little closer on their end.

If those players can't get it done with Trout there they definitely can't do it without him.

It's this simple. And it's been said by others. If you want to trade for Mike Trout go ahead. But don't come on here and attempt to rationalize it as realistic or fair in any way. I understand the part you're arguing but the trade as constructed in the original question just doesn't work. It's evident by Bombers never giving a proposal. It's evident by watching baseball. He's too valuable to the Angels to trade. Plus he had a full no trade.

A Trout trade just can not logically happen in 2017. So if anyone wants to do it just to ahead and do it but there's no way to make it fair or realistic

I said I wouldn't include Sanchez personally. Besides Boston falls more into the don't really need Trout category to be honest. If I were the Red Sox I wouldn't be interested in Trout. Not because he a not great, but because they are in a fantastic postion anyway and in my opinion would really only be hurting themselves to give up what it would take to get Trout.

Besides if they gave up Mookie they could considerably lower the price and not have to move the 6 best they have. Whether you include Sanchez or not you'll still giving up your top 6 prospects to get Trout if you're New York.

Personally I don't have as big a love for Trout as everyone else in baseball does. He's a fantastic player no doubt but I don't feel he's the second coming like everyone else does. And unless it happens on a rental Trout will never wear WS gold.

You realize Trout is 25 right? He still has a lot of time to try to win a World Series.

Ken Griffey Jr never wore World Series Gold. Barry Bonds never won a ring. Same with Ted Williams and Ernie Banks. The list could go on

Depends on how he does this year. Best-case? Something like what Miller and Chapman fetched, if you can sell at the right time to the right team.

The Angels aren't gambling on prospects when they already have Mickey Mantle locked up for the next few years. So I don't see a Trout trade happening.
