Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Just started my 4th and final chise with the Phillies. So I got my 2 in the AL CLE/BAL and my 2 in the NL CHI/PHI.
Now I'm keeping my CLE/CHI chises realistic, my BAL chise me and a friend are using mirror teams in our franchises and seeing how different it works out for us so it's not really as realistic.
Anyway back to why I'm here I'll be running the PHI chise like my CHI/CLE ones. So something I wanna do is add Jose Urena from the Marlins. I started a chise with them first but decided to go Phillies instead. But I really liked Urena, what's a good package for him you think? I'm only playing the second game of the year now so might now even pull the trigger until a little later but I might do it now.
P.S. I hate trading in division and never do it but I want Urena lol.

2017 Cleveland: 3-5

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Unless you want to give them some of your pitching? I wouldn't advise it as that's kinda the basis of your entire rebuild but.... I would say the Cubs would be more interested in say Quintana right now than your younger prospects. He could solidify the last spot in the rotation, not to mention Lackey's probably done after this year so he could fill his spot if they wanted to resign him.
Maybe someone else has thoughts.
I'm in game right now and don't like to suggest trades without the roster in front of me.
Btw what roster are you using?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
That's an interesting scenario as I would consider Urena to be a pretty fringe player. Career ERA in the high 5's but still young with a lot of team control. He'll cost more because as you mentioned, inner-division. I'd wonder if a straight flip for Eflin would get it done. Eflin is a few years younger with better upside and more team control. You get taxed for the inner-division trade but it's not an insane overpay.
Urena just has that look in game ya know? He's got the hair the swag, I just feel like he'll fit in perfectly in Philly with Franco, Galvis, Herrera etc..

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
July 2019 in my Cubs franchise. Looking for a new ACE as Lester is struggling at 35 years old. Also both Almora and Baez can't stay happy so I'm looking to ship both off. That will solve my Baez/Happ problem as well.
So while I was browsing through "rebuilding" teams, I came across Tampa Bay. Was thinking of trading for both Kiermaier and Gray (acquired back in 2017 for Archer straight up).
Cubs get
Gray-29 y/o 88 ovr 1 year ARB left
7-2 2.08 ERA, 1.16 Whip, almost 3-1 k-bb ratio
Keirmaier- 28 y/o 86 ovr 3 years left
.290/.364/.481, 9 HR, 37 rbis, 2.8 war
Rays get
Baez-26 y/o 89 ovr 2 years left
.258/.311/.404, 12 HR, 48 rbis, 1.5 war
Almora- 24 y/o 79 ovr 3 years ARB left
.215/.300/.350, 4 HR,18 rbis, 1.1 war
Eloy Jimenez-22 y/o 69 ovr A potential
#5 rated prospect
SP Leo Guerrero- 21 y/o 71 ovr B potential (88)
#25 rated prospect
3B Candelario-25 y/o 67 ovr B potential (83)
SP Roger Olson-19 y/o 61 ovr B potential (85)
Again if I need to add more I will. If you need more information let me know. ThanksComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Happ to the South Side has been discussed. If the Sox send the Cubs Quintana and Montilla, they can get a return of Happ, Candelario, Oscar de la Cruz and Wilson. You can check out the link to a log that tracks approved trades in this thread in my signature.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I believe getting one of them has to start with Moncada. Because really Chicago doesn't have a lot of need to get rid of them. They are practically running out of room to play the players they have lol.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Looking to move Melky Cabrera. Hes on his last yr of his contract, his stat line is .241/.276/.386 4 Hrs 12 RBIs in 145 ABs. Im looking to move him because he has become a diffensive liability as is tied for 3rd for the most errors in the league with 6 in just 40 games. Im looking for fairness and realism if possible.
I see the Phillies are just 3 games behind and are playing with over a .500 winning percentage. They currently have 2 of their outfielders out. Micheal Saunders out for the season and Odubel Herrera out for a few weeks. Also Phillies called up Dylan Cozans and Roman Quinn who are barely hitting .200 Would Melky going there make any sense??? No other team in my franchise seems to be needing an outfielder. Thanks in advanceComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
PED issues aside, Gordon is a very good player on a very good contract. Unlike what I'm going to say below, this could be a fit for NYY with something around J.Mateo though we'll have to find something to do with S.Castro. Who needs him in your franchise?
Short answer is no. Without taking on J.Ellsbury contract (which almost defeats the purpose of moving Stanton), NYY will have 50+mm wrapped up in 2 OF's.
As you can tell from yesterday's conversation, finding a good landing spot for Stanton is a trick. I put some effort into it with all 30 clubs and will admit there are probably a few scenarios I didn't think of, there really aren't many clubs that could make it work and still return anything close to the value Stanton deserves. I think we have a decent one in LAD but I also had to take on 11mm next year and add a legit closer to make it happen. I don't know what you're trying to accomplish with your franchise but I'm happy with that deal. Use it as a framework as you shop him around.Comment

He honestly doesn't have any value in that scenario. His defense has been deteriorating for the past few years and doesn't sound like anything has changed in your 'chise.
Add to the fact those are some pretty horrible offensive numbers his value is completely shot.Comment
