I was more than willing to give them a pass last year because Battle Royale and Conquest were new so there was come uncertainty about how many people would embrace those modes.

This year I am less forgiving. It's year 2 with these features and I doubt the initial surge of players is significantly higher than last year. Shoot, even last year I think I had been able to create my Diamond Dynasty team in the first few days. I have not even been able to get that mode to load yet.

This just seems like poor planning at this point. That there was no contingency in case they had issues similar to last year.

I would just be happy if I could not see "server not available" when I try to do anything online with the game. I know all about TS launch server issues, but this has been worse than recent memory for me.

I tried last night from 6-11 est. I'm sure things are much better at off times like that.

Once again we get to live through "failed to establish connection" when inviting friends to play, this was an issue for what? 2 weeks last year? Lovely! Just stockpiling user games in online franchise as this gets resolved..

Re: Why are the servers still down?

I've played the show every since the PS4 has been out and I don't ever recall not being able to go online so long. In fact I don't recall it ever saying I couldn't connect but maybe in the past the game didn't do as much connecting to the server unless you play online (which I don't do).

However, I think there is an explanation as to why they weren't ready for the onslaught. You guys may not like it but this is an issue for the same reason as when you go to a football game and ocassionally you can't get a signal. Companies know that everyone who can go online won't ever really do so at the same time, save maybe day one.

They aren't going to build out their infrastructure to support 1 million people when that will only ever happen on the first day. If it typically is going to have 100,000 people gaming on it that is how they will build it out. They know ahead of time it cannot support day one traffic but they also know that it won't be an issue in a day or two.

This is the same as what telecom companies (I'm in the industry) and I imagine what game companies do. This is also why if there is a major happening, such as a 9/11 the phone lines jam up.

The system is only built for an average of users, not the maximum of users.

Just my personal theory of course, although tbh I do believe I've read about this from industry insiders but I have no specific article I can allude to in order to share.

Re: Why are the servers still down?

I have had the game since Monday and have yet once to connect to anything online.

I figured the servers are just not online at all for anything.

I'm surprised to see some people actually seen stuff and connect to some things online... I haven't yet

              man.. this is really bad.

at least EA has their servers online working at launch. I play FIFA and NHL at launch online no problems. In fact EA Hockey has a beta online the last couple of years... not sure why MLB doesn't at the very least do that to get thru this mess early like other companies.

I never seen a game with almost half the menus in the game have to do with connecting to online and then none of it works... none of it.. network error on everything. can't do nothing. I never seen that before..

I can maybe understand some problems with online.. but no I can't understand servers not even turned on for anything it seems like. that's weird and BAD

This will be remembered for years, as in like 10 years from now we will be like 'well such and such a game is having a MLB the show 17 type of online debut" type bad, LOL... I've never seen anything quite like it really.

What about you guys, anyone remember anything to compare to this??

BF4 had the worst launch I've ever seen.

I agree for the most part. They may not want the added expense of increasing the capacity for only a week or two of heavy usage.

But I think that is offset by the bad PR of always having server issues the first week and having tens of thousands of disappointed fans who can't connect or receive their pre-order or deluxe bonuses that they paid for.

I paid $100 and I am pretty unhappy that I have not even been able to launch the Diamond Dynasty menu yet.

not like this.. I never seen a game release with the servers basically disabled and offline to where no one can connect to anything online that has to do with the game. that's the case here.

yeah games release and they have some network overload and maybe some disconnects or something like this but this is different.. it's like the servers are NOT even online at all for anyone. I have yet to connect to anything online since I have had the game. that's NEVER happened to me before for a new game which as much as online menus as this.

this is different and already worst.. you can't even connect to their network online in any part of their game menus not even once. this is like Sony has not even turned on their servers yet

yeah BF4 was bad but at least I connected to their network at least once before getting disconnected lol

I would think they would want to make sure they can handle the initial wave of users in the early going because that's when reviewers will be going in. This can't be good for reviews.
