I know exactly what you mean. It's kind of like a whiffle ball like the ball doesn't have enough weight to it. The ball floats and definitely does not have real physics to it compared to previous years. If they fix that with the next hit types going on it's really going to be something special.

Re: Too many HR's?
There's really something wrong here. At times it seems a Home Run derby. It's not only the HR's, but the amount of bounce on the warning tracks and the ground double. Obviously the bigger PCI ( it's really huge this year, even with batters with low contact rating ) doesn't help at all.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
Ten games into my franchise and outside of one game I haven't had a home run derby affair. My average is probably two HRs a game between myself and the CPU. Default sliders All star hitting, Hall of Fame pitching.

Re: Too many HR's?
Its weird because the end box scores look realistic hit wise and such, its just there does seem to be a bit to many HR's. I dont think its horrible out of the box, but I did lower the slider one spot to the left.
Otherwise I am feeling the game plays pretty realistically.Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
I think the bigger issue isn't the home run frequency, but the type of hitters hitting them & the ridiculous distance they're going. Guys with 50 power rating shouldn't be consistently hitting 470ft no-doubters. I had one game where Didi Gregorius hit an opposite field 460ft bomb. In this year's game, it feels like everyone in the lineup, 1 through 9, are legitimate power threats which detracts the realism from previous MLBs.Comment

In terms of balance, realism and simulation, it's a big step back from The Show 16.Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
There is definitely something going on and I hope a patch addresses it or a good slider set. Through 5 games in my Astro's franchise I average 3 HRs a game and the CPU a bit over 2. The box scores look right but almost all of my scoring comes from the long ball. I really haven't even tried to steal because its not necessary to get a guy in scoring position because if I make contact there is a good chance it's clearing the fence anyway.Comment

Default sliders HOF hitting and pitching.
Very intriguing to say the least.
For those that are seeing too many homeruns, have you tried lowering the contact and/or solid hits slider(s) to see if that has any impact?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Too many HR's?
I think there are a couple things at play here....and for the record I do not think there are too many HRs....
Hitting is easier this year, and in a good way!
When you time a pitch now, or hit a hanging breaking pitch up in the zone you crush it like you would in real life.
I do agree the ball seems to carry too far in most cases (500+ FT HRs) but I think the amount of HRs is realistic.
Now the reason I say the game is easier and not more realistic (it is more realistic!) is because I think for a long time lot of us got stuck in this pattern of "Rookie/Veteran too easy, All-Star is frustrating, HoF is too hard, and why does Legend Hitting even exist?"
I think with the new ball physics, slower pitches, we are now hitting better than we ever did...we have been basically practicing all these years on a harder, unrealistic version of hitting where balls did not travel correctly, balls hung too long, and solid hits were hard to come by....all these things have been fixed and when you now take the same approach you have been used to taking on the more frustrating hitting from before....we are getting better results.
Now that it is more realistic, it almost seems easier, but I think in reality you have become a better hitter than you are giving yourself credit for over the years. I think for those hitting too many HRs you need to raise difficulty level. Whenever something is too easy in a game thats what you do....
For me I was always borderline Veteran and All-Star, so now I think All-Star is really really good out the box.
If you are hitting too many HRs, and you have not tried raising the difficulty level, you are not even trying to remedy your issue. Go all the way up too Legend and tell me you are still hitting 9 bombs a game....Last edited by El_MaYiMbE; 03-31-2017, 07:36 AM.Comment
