I'm in the belief that wind speed affects the ball as it always has. The only difference is that now wind speed will literally change on the fly with the slider change, when before it would only be set prior to the game, depending on the slider setting.

If it means anything, I haven't seen an abundance of homers in the last few games that I have played either. I'm a click down on power and solid hits, but a click up on contact and timing. Pitcher control and consistency remain under 5 for both human & CPU.

Slider adjustments: (Number of Clicks from Default)
              Pitcher Consistency +1
              Pitcher Control +1
              Solid Hits -1
              Wind -3

              Final Score 2-1 A's.
              Hits A's 5, Angels 4
Homeruns 1. Mike Trout hit a line drive 395 foot home run to left on a hanging breaking ball.

It's only one game so take it with a grain of salt. I'm starting to buy in to the notion that wind speed has more effect than orginally thought, but it's still early. CPU pitchers leaving the ball over the heart of the plate too frequently is imo, the other issue.
I dropped the wind speed from 8 to 3 and had an amazing game at AT&T Park with only 1 HR from Corey Seager that travelled 385 feet. Also had User/CPU power at 4 and solid hits at 3 and 4 for the User and CPU respectively.

I think (HOPE!) we could be on to something. I also think it's worth trying games in cold cities in April at nighttime. When Ramone said the weather and temperature has a big effect on how far the ball is travelling back maybe we underestimated him!

A combination of these things and dropping the power and solid hit sliders looks like it might get us where we need to be.

I've heard from many users that maybe the problem is wind. Let's keep on eye on it guys.

I worry that the problem is for guys just crushing with zone mostly and they are gonna tweak it and directional hitting will then be too weak.

Are you guys experimenting with sliders?

I'm having the same thing. I use timing, directional when I am trying to go deep, but I only have one HR using it, but my farthest HR is 439 with an 87 power guy.

Night game or day game? If they implemented the weather physics correctly the Coliseum plays vastly different, between night and day.

I played another half a franchise game last night before saving and going to bed. Results are encouraging.

I scored 2 runs without even registering a hit and the CPU scored one on an RBI double. More varied scoring is great. Yes I realize it's a tiny sample size, but its looking positive so far.

I'm an average player so all the golden glove ultra difficulty stuff is out of my league so I'm going to pretend you guys know what you're talking about there.

Wouldn't the easiest way to know if this was a thing would be to sim a season, gather totals on all players, put them into categories as far as attributes, and then play out the season doing the same?

That way you would see what sort of performance upgrades players received by being controlled by a person and if the performance was across the board or was increased on certain players with certain attributes.

The whole 1-20 games played seems very imprecise.

I absolutely think this is the best Show game they have made and yes, I have owned them all. I do wish they would put the "timing" mode back into the game like we had back in 12??

As far as the ball flying to far and too many homeruns, the people who want to make a good experience out of it will because they will make adjustments and experiment with different modes, levels and sliders. Others will just simply set back and complain.

I'm knee deep into spring training and the numbers in played games and CPU generated games are looking very realistic. You get out what you put into it.

Wind at default is absolutely the play guys.

I believe I found the right slider cocktail for AS Classic pitching Directional hitting users.

I am getting amazing variety after 25 test franchise games. Been pounding this game and I am solid till we get our first gameplay patch. Then we re-evaluate.

                            This game is amazing.

I wouldn't be too quick to blame the wind. The game I referenced earlier where I allowed six homeruns in basically three innings, was after I had reduced the wind slider to 1. However, I can report that moving up to Hall of Fame hitting (default) has produced four straight games where I've scored two or less runs, and not a single homerun to speak of, let alone monster bombs. Could just be a simple matter where All-Star is the new Veteran for this year.
