What are the negative effects, if any, of turning wind down to 0 or 1?

Re: Too many HR's?
Has SCEA made any comment regarding this whatsoever? Armour said that there's a large update/patch coming. However, I can't find any mention of it. I've played my last three games in Hall of Fame and it's one extreme to the other.

Re: Too many HR's?
I think the wind effect is a little too strong in the game in general, so keeping it at 1 or 2 wouldn't be so bad... in real-life wind probably blows harder as you go up higher above the ground, but I think it probably doesn't work that way in the game. (Or more in general, in real-life wind may show more complicated patterns because the stadiums come in all shapes and size and work as obstructions... but I think in the game wind just works to keep pushing the ball in one direction all the time.)
It's the reason why I bumped the TSN bug report thread, to make sure it is getting attention from the developers. Who knows how they'd go about fixing it, but I'd be surprised if nothing gets done, given even the HR mashers in the online mode keep saying it doesn't play like baseball.Last edited by nomo17k; 04-23-2017, 05:55 PM.Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
I took a week long break, started a new Season with Baltimore on Legend (Zone/Meter). First two games the scores were 9-7 and 9-4, I split. Unfortunately every game is still a slugfest with scorchers everywhere. I hit 7 homeruns and the CPU hit 6.
This is such a game killer for me. In about 30 total games, about 95% of all offense is just via homerun. I'm not that good to be on Legend.
One thing that is hard to track is no matter the difficulty, the CPU hangs a ton of pitches in dead center.

What are your sliders at? Power, solid contact, and wind specifically.

The wind effect is probably overpowered for blowing in as well as blowing out, but even a strong headwind won't stop hard-hit balls from leaving the park. I would think the HR numbers should be high in their data even taking that into account.
It's really hard to believe this was intended.Comment

Re: Too many HR's?
At the very least I hope Ramone or someone from the dev team at least addresses it, one way or another. SCEA has always been good about communicating with the online community so I actually have fairly high hopes that they will.
The question that always remains when there's an, "issue," is whether or not it affects the masses as opposed to the hardcore (and most likely minority) fans. We here at OS are definitely in that group. Hardcore sports gamers who want realism. But I wonder if this is an issue for the other 90%of people that play the game.
I can't see this as being the case but I really hope this isn't a trend for The Show turning into less of a simulation and more of an arcade style game.

Re: Too many HR's?
First of all, I'm not complaining about the HR's. I always play franchise with my Dodgers and every year I hit way less home runs at home then I do on the road.
I always play on all star for both pitching and hitting, but this year when I first got the game I started using Dynamic difficulty and for the first four or five games I was hitting a ton of home runs just like most of you. Then I went back to All Star and I was struggling on offense like usual lol.
Then I started my franchise On All-Star for both hitting and pitching and I had the power slider Down one click to 4 and the first two games I won 10-0 and 5-0 with about half the runs coming from the longball. Then over the next 10 games or so I could barely score for the most part and I had only two or three doubles over that span with a few home runs of course.
So then I said the hell with it and put the Power slider back to 5. Now my offense is back on track. And yes I'm hitting more home runs but I'm also getting doubles as well.
Then this last game I played last night, I hit 6 home runs in the game including back to back to back. Every run was score via the Home Run including the CPU Diamondbacks. I won 7 to 3.
Yeah they are a little too many home runs but damn it I'll take it. Lol for the sake of everyone I hope they do lower the power a little bit but not too much.

https://youtu.be/fSA_opAJ0QM. Here is the video of my back to back to back home runs by Corey Seager, Yasiel Puig, and Turner. Segars was a moon shot by the way 511 ft lol
I always use directional hitting by the way AKA timing

Re: Too many HR's?
I forget who said this or I would give them credit, but Hall of Fame is the way to go. I have played the last five games on Hall of Fame (hitting and pitching) and I've hit two home runs. I haven't gone five games with fewer home runs all year. I know five games isn't a huge sample size but I can just tell, the game plays differently.
All-Star is a slugfest. Hall of Fame is not. I just played a game (at Coors Field) where I won 7-3, and had 13 hits. None were home runs. That would NEVER happen on All-Star.
