Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.04 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
Autobaserunning, which was still broken pre-patch, is now more broken post-patch. Runners are randomly stopping after hits and it is occurring with an alarming frequency now. It cost me runs in two straight games. While I like that you can control the auto baserunners more, it just isn't working consistently. Until SDS fixes, I wish they would go back to '15 version.Last edited by knich; 04-26-2017, 09:56 PM.Comment

Yes hitting just felt a whole hell of a lot better pre patch. Lowering power and wind down to 3 fixed homerun issue.
The wind being the biggest factor as I noticed 10mph wind in game moving the ball as if it were 20-25mph winds. Lowering wind slider has greatly reduced homeruns and possibly homerun distances to a lesser extent.
They need to revert the ball velocity off the bat back to what it was before, fix bat sounds back as well. I've never seen a patch from SDS cause other major issues in game before so giving them the benefit of the doubt but cmon...those two things were fine pre patch and now they are a huge game flaw now.
This patch really is a step backwards IMO. The issues I've noticed so far:
- Definite frame rate drops compared to pre-patch on PS4 Pro (on all modes; 4k, some improvements, and high frame rate). 4K has always sucked with this year's game, but high frame rate is now stuttery too. I'm gaming in HDR too FWIW.
- Numerous RTTS presentation bugs which I didn't notice before: Division standings wrong during presentation, described as NL West but showed NL East standings, etc.
- Batted ball sound (obviously wrong now)
- Incorrect manager fielding requests.....SS told to cover 3B Drag, etc.
The big issue for me is the framerate. It is super annoying that now even the high frame rate option is stuttery. Just unacceptable, and it's noticeably different than before the patch.Comment

I just had Austin Jackson stop at 2nd base off a double by Lindor in the gap. Both runners standing on 2nd base smh..I was holding L1 even and he wouldn't move!

Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.04 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
Fully aware that power was a little off pre patch however, this is a video game. I know we all want it to be as realistic as possible to a certain extent but I also enjoy the fact that the skill level of the human user's input will allow players to do things(have incredible seasons hitting, 70 HRS/ 77 HRS) that they may never have in real life. If all we want are exact replicas of real life we might as well just watch a baseball game in real life(which I do plenty of) or let the CPU play every game and just watch. The greatness of a video game is that you can use your own skills in that game to produce outcomes we don't see in real life. Graphically things should be as accurate as possible but you have to allow for a user to achieve incredible things. If power is too much adjust sliders. With this patch power seems to have been turned too far down. Was in month 2 of my franchise and now numbers do not match as far as production from month to month. I know that's normal but there is a huge drop off now. Also the ball sounds very weird off the bat now. I play this game for hours everyday and it was the first thing I noticed after the patch, that is until I continuously squared up high fastballs only to hit soft liners to short or fly balls to straight away left, center and right. I know everyone has their own opinion and not stepping on anyone's opinion, I just was happy with the gameplay as it was. All of the visual updates were wanted and excellent, just wish the hitting part of gameplay was left alone. Hopefully they will tweak it to get it somewhat back to the way it was.Comment

Cool. I will give the Enhanced setting a try. It's kind of silly that the high frame rate option is now stuttery, but if Enhanced is better I suppose I can't complain having better visuals.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.04 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
Played three games tonight using QC in a franchise mode. Wasn't interested in the pitch count, wanted to test hitting on my own. Using default sliders. I am not a great hitter. Always just use the x button and hardly ever use the power button. In crucial at bats and with two strikes I will use the contact swing just to protect. Against great pitchers, I use Rookie hitting and always pitch with all star. Veteran hitting against their # 2 pitchers and down. The bat sound really does not bother me because many times I play at night while my wife sleeps and I keep the volume down.
I'm am certainty no expert but it didn't take very long to realize that hitting had been toned way down. In 3 games I rarely saw a line drive or blooper single for myself or for the CPU team. Most hits were high shallow fly balls that the OF had all day to get under. The grounders were weak and rarely got through the IF, Almost all singles were grounders past the pitcher up the middle. The doubles and the line drive singles just weren't there.
The ball coming off the bat just didn't have the same trajectory. It could be just a coincidence but Double plays were plenty full. When there was a HR, it barely cleared the wall.
I boosted Human and CPU power sliders two clicks. I boosted Human and CPU solid hits two clicks, Dropped the fielders speed two clicks. I played two more games with those settings and once again I had my line drive and blooper singles back, even a couple of doubles and a triple. HR were going around 400 to 450. One went into the upper deck but Beltran just crushed a FB I left up high on a 3 2 count.
So I do believe the Hitting issue can be adjusted to your liking using the sliders until they patch it. Again this is just based on a few games but I definitely seen the difference. I could live with this if they didn't patch it.
Now if I could just find a work around for the QC pitching issues. Then I really could enjoy the game, I just can't play full pitch, I do not have the patience. I would never draw a walk. I guess I could just sim or fast forward the first 4 or five innings and then jump in the game. Maybe I will try that, By simming the first few, I won't kill all my batters and there aver. When I do something right, No one ever remembers.
When I do something wrong, No one ever forgets.!Comment

Having some occurrences of this bug in DD - 3 times tonight (although being able to actually get through a game in DD since the patch is a plus - at least the whole thing doesn't freeze now)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6xTNoEBb6do" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
(poor guy on that first one....dude had absolutely no idea what was going on. and I wasn't about to try and move my 2B runner)
There was already a bug report on this issue and I replied to it including that video.Comment

Oh wow this is something I never checked or thought about. Personally once the cpu brings in the bullpen I switch teams and manage the cpu bullpen for them the rest of the game. Including mound visits which the cpu rarely uses.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.04 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
I have a weird idea about the QCs, and this might be totally out there in left field, but I thought about it with regards to charting pitches, and trying to get accurate counts.
If an at-bat starts with a 1-2 count, is it possible the game have figured in a couple foul balls prior to the actual at-bat taking place?
What's to say that when the CPU dice-rolls the algorithm for the count that is on the batter when the user gets into the action, that the two strike count could not have had a multitude of foul balls figured into the equation?
Especially guys who have the Foul Ball Frequency set up at 7-8, why wouldn't the CPU figure that into the mix?
Let's say in the course of the six innings, the CPU pitcher starts his at-bats against your guys with 50% two-strike counts. That is nine batters with a two strike count, and let's say out of those nine, the batter fouled off 2.2 pitches in the at-bat, before it went live. That is 19.8 extra pitches, now factor in a couple really good at bats, and with the Foul Frequency slider cranked up, let's say the CPU figures half of those batters with 4+ foul balls. That is another 12 pitches. Added to the previous 20 is 32 more possible pitches.
So, when the CPU takes out the pitcher with 60 pitches, he might potentially have 92
And thus, he gets pulled accordingly.
So, the behind-the-scenes pitch count might hold more than meets the eye, especially when guys have cranked up the Foul Frequency to try and make their QC at-bats more realistic.
Just a thought.

I wasn't sure where to put this but I just had 3 odd plays happen in my game, all by Jose Altuve, the baserunning one and the DP one aren't too bad but there still plays that shouldn't really happen
But the one where he just holds onto the ball and lets Smoak reach base is something I've never seen beforeLast edited by parky_17; 04-27-2017, 10:26 AM.Teams
