Re: Directional Hitting Guide
I'm pretty similar. Only time that I really try to influence is on a 3-1 or 3-0 count when I'm pretty confident I'll get a fastball down the chute, and I only do it with power hitters.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
It might not be for a while. I've been chatting about it in other threads, but I still haven't nailed down exactly what has changed.
I do know that contact affects more, but all of what it does affect now is still not clear.
I do know that the pull swing has been nerfed and the up swing has been buffed though. That I can confirm. Thev down or drive swing is just as powerful as ever though, maybe even more so.

So it safe to say down and or left right depending on your batter position is the way to go. Every year I have issues with hitting pitching no problems.Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Lately I’ve found a no-influence power swing getting better home run results than a pull-influence normal swing.
Last year power swings seemed useless to me. I think I hit a single home run with it (while sitting on a pitch location with zone hitting in my brief exploration of that style late in the year). This year I’ve hit quite a few.
I have been hitting occasional home runs with a pull influence (one yesterday with my No. 2 prospect rookie, who has about 50 power), but it seems much less predictable. In 18, I could reliably hit homers when the pitch and swing lined up right. This year less so.Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
WarmWind has explained it far more eloquently than I ever could but I wouldn’t lock myself into a prescriptive formula when there are so many variables. Including no influence you have 9 ways to influence a hit and I would use them all during each game. Some of the variables that I find most important and take into account are the SITUATION! My hitters attributes, tendency, animation, hot/cold zones and form. The pitchers REPERTOIRE, attributes, quirks and animation. Then for me parks and time of day make a difference as well. I tend to use practice mode a lot so you can try different approaches for each batter without the pressure of a game. Good Luck!Comment

I got u I hear u I just don’t know why hitting has always been my Achilles heal. Every baseball game hitting has been issue. Pitching I ace it. I might just switch to zone. I restarted franchise too many times now.

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Jeez I would be having the same trouble as you if I went to Zone! Could you stick with Directional, pick a good seeing camera like 15, nice slow pitch speed then start on Rookie or Veteran (I find Dynamic a bit weird) give Hum Contact, Timing and Solid Hits a big boost (and even nerf the CPU pictching) forget about influencing for a while and just get some hits. When you are more comfortable at the plate you can drop the sliders slowly and start experimenting with influencing by using some high contact guys and their tendency in good hitters counts. We are lucky there are so many ways to play the game.Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Hey guys so haven't played this game in almost 2 years and picked it up a few weeks ago and been playing in second season of rtts. I'm sure this was answered somewhere here or should bee a given but I always thought by selecting influence meant you cover that area only, such as of I push down in only covering the the lower aspect of plate. But here it sounds more of just effecting swing type? I rarely use this as always afraid by selecting a direction I'd miss more hits on balls. So is selecting a side or influence hurt badly say I select inside influence wanting to pull the ball, but the pitch is outside, do I have a decent chance at making contact still? Or will I completely miss? Guess I should say dies selecting a influence direct the batters vision to that area greatly? Feel kind of dumb asking. I never use it and I do okay. Currently just after all star break at age 19 in 83ovr hitting 249ish though as I'm still striking out with good sliders and change ups. But I just have to get my eyes adjusted again after years not playing my brain says push the butt in everytime the ball is out the hand.Comment

That varies from player to player.

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
I usually play on rookie with sliders turned down a bit but recently i've turned the sliders all the way up and i can't hit anything. every ball i hit feels like i am getting jammed and have no power? ever since the new update came out i can't even hit with a 97 power josh bell. the ball seems to get to me a lot faster too. i feel so late on everything. also having problems with my HoF pitching now too with the CPU obliterating everything i throw.Comment

Re: Directional Hitting Guide
Thank you so much for taking the time to detail all of this. Such a game changer. I’ve used no influence 99.9% of the time for years and just today started applying some of the strategies you explained in here. I especially appreciated the tip on how the swing types work with different archetypes. Having a lot of fun with this right now. Also wanted to share that I just chose a push influence with a whole field hitter (Aaron Hicks) with two outs and runners on the corners (trailing 4-0 in the 3rd and didn’t want to strand a runner in scoring position) and he connected on a FB up and slightly in and pulled it down the line for a 3-run shot. Didn’t expect that result but I’ll take it. I was just looking to poke one the other way. It is also reassuring to know that even by choosing different influences that you can still end up with a variety of outcomes. Thanks again!
